Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai? Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen OVA

What do Shuchiin Academy's model students do outside of their student council duties? After a visit to the swimming pool, Kaguya Shinomiya and Chika Fujiwara take to the showers to wash themselves off. When Chika accidentally drops a bar of soap, the two find themselves in a rather slippery mishap.

Meanwhile, Miyuki Shirogane and Yuu Ishigami examine a discarded pornographic magazine—its content bearing an uncanny resemblance to the other student council members. Later on, an intense fried rice cook-off commences as Chika and Miko Iino seek to crown a master chef amongst the council.

These eccentric activities reveal a side of the student council that has never been seen before!

Absolutely sublime episode. I learned so much about fried rice and the various ways it can be cooked!

Very interesting conflict being set in motion by a battle of ideologies. Absolutely explosive results
Character interactions 10/10
Beautiful reactions and a great deal of empathy derived from the various recipes and how they relate to the characters' personalities and backgrounds.
Cinematography 10/10
Lots of well-chosen angles and smart use of lighting made the scenes very memorable.

Beautifully drawn food. Absolutely mouth watering.

Made me look for a pan as soon as I finished watching. Ishigami's recipe definitely strikes my fancy.
Conclusion: Please watch it! It's the best way to use 26 minutes. Even better than sex.

Mixed Feelings

This OVA for Kaguya-sama: Love is War consists of two different parts. First fanservice up to 11:30 and then a normal skit.

The fanservice part was quite extreme as far as fanservice goes and at some points it seemed indistinguishable from hentai. The way the fanservice was added was okay but there were narrational gaps and it really didn't add anything to the main anime.
The second part was a cooking match between Miyuki, Kaguya and Yuu and this seemed like a perfectly normal skit and was enjoyable to watch.

The characters are the same as the characters in the second season and if you ... want to watch this OVA I'd recommend watching the second season first.

The animation, voice acting and sound are all the same or comparable to the second season.

I don't recommend watching the hentai-like part since it doesn't add anything but the second part is nice. Therefore I only recommend watching the second part that starts at 11:30.

People that dislike fanservice must NOT watch it lmao.
I mean, in a way it's interesting because it's like a meta commentary by the authors, saying: we deliberately don't put fanservice in the normal story but this is to show you we're very well capable of it.
The thing is, this ain't fanservice, it's straight up hentai. Meaning not only excessive but even bad looking (the anime aesthetics and animation style are objectively not really fit for that kind of visuals in my opinion).
I was flabbergasted and I'm really thankful this is separate from the series I know and love, which does feature spicy innuendos ... but in a tasteful and funny way.
The only thing I personally enjoyed about this episode was Shirogane desperately trying to remain virtuous and not admit his lowly desires like Ishigami lol.
The second part with the "Masterchef challenge" was ok but I never really laughed, probably also bc I was still jaded about the previous part.
Altogether a small, weird treat for the fans, but not worth watching.
