'Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai' Gets Third Anime Season, OVA in 2021
The Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai on Stage: Shuchiin Ongakutan special event announced a third anime season and original video anime for Aka Akasaka's romantic comedy manga on Sunday. The original video anime is scheduled for a 2021 release. The event also unveiled an announcement promo.
Akasaka began the manga in Miracle Jump in May 2015 and switched it to Young Jump the following March. Shueisha published the 19th volume on July 17, with the 20th volume scheduled for a November 19 release. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai has a cumulative 13 million copies of its compiled volumes in circulation.
The first season aired in Winter 2019, roughly covering the first five volumes. Aniplex of America licensed the anime and simulcast it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu. The company also released the show on home video on February 18. The second season premiered on April 11 and ended on June 27, adapting up to volume ten. Funimation exclusively simulcast the second season and subsequently began streaming an English dub.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English under its Shonen Jump imprint in February 2018 and published the 16th volume on September 1. The 17th volume is scheduled to go on sale on November 3.
Shinta Sakayama (Hitsugi no Chaika) began drawing the Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban spin-off in Tonari no Young Jump in June 2018 and ended it on June 25. G3 Ida launched a second spin-off, Kaguya-sama wo Kataritai, in Young Jump in July 2018. Shueisha shipped the fourth and final volume of Doujin-ban and the second volume of the second spin-off on March 19.
A live-action film adaptation opened in Japan last September, grossing over 2.24 billion yen (approximately US$21.4 million). Shou Hirano (Ninjani Sanjo! Mirai e no Tatakai) and Kanna Hashimoto (Gintama) starred in the film as Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, respectively.
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai placed first in the Comics division at the 3rd Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho in August 2017—a joint award by Kadokawa's Da Vinci literature magazine and streaming platform Niconico. The manga also won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category alongside Ao Ashi.

lol yesss Ishigami is best girl we need more; also u right Kaguya-sama is one of the first animes I've seen in a while that consistently pokes fun at other popular anime and does such a good job; not to offend the of the fans of the anime they are joking about but Shirogane's volleyball moments *cough* Hinata *cough* and Iino's admiration for piano prodigy: Fujiwara *cough* Arima Kousei *cough* LOL those are some of the ones that come to mind (I like both Haikyuu and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso but seeing any comedic reference is positive in my book) but glad to see we both see/want the same stuff!!
Its sad that i cant catch those references...

this is just an inference based on the chapters adapted so far in S1 and S2 (approximately Vol 1-Vol 5 & Vol 6-Vol 10 although some chapters were skipped and a lot were out of order), but I believe volumes 11-15 will be adapted if S3 is our typical 12-episode season
Wow I really need to catch up with the manga haha.. btw thanks for replying! Also hoping here that this won't be the last season
THE MANGA IS SO SPICY RN def read when you have time!! And yeah honestly I hope it's not the last season either, but it's honestly such a big deal a rom-com gets an S3 within 2-3 years of the pilot season!! Like for shounen and other big series it's not as surprising but the support for Kaguya was enough to keep A-1 Pictures studio going for it!!

A lot of speculation on Reddit is that Kaguya-sama S3 may be the last season just cause most rom-coms don't last that long but we all hoping this anime is the exceptionnnn; I want the full manga to be adapted which will likely be 4-5 seasons(? Don't quote me on that it's a guess) but S3 is a lot bigger of a deal than you would expect since we ain't a shounen series!!
