If you don't mind beastiality (thankfully the sex part wasn't shown), its a beautiful film, still beastiality though.

I'm not sure how I feel about Yuki's change. I understand her wanting to feel like she fit in with her peers, but she could not have been the only girl in school who liked snakes or bugs. If there weren't any, she could have hung out with boys instead. I feel like that's a path a lot of young people go through, but I hoped that she went a different way.

Ame's story was interesting. I did not expect him to take the wolf path, but in the end, it kind of suited him. I wish he gave his mother a warning though.

All in all, I enjoyed the movie. It even made me a bit teary-eyed even though the movie wasn't even that sad.

Cried 20 minutes in tbh. Hana is kinda like a superhuman - I was so impressed by her persistence. Great characters but I do have to ask; Is Ookami's name just Ookami?

Anyway good plot, timing of stuff and nice ost too 9/10 :)

I can't remember the last time I cried so much... those last 20 minutes were so, so emotional. I could complain about some things but they would be "I dislike this because it upsets me" kind of complaint, which doesn't take much from the movie's worth, in my opinion. I'm truly very sad, now. A mother's love can be so amazing, but even then life's full of loneliness.
"Tell me why you're crying, tell me everything
Don't worry, I’m not going anywhere
No matter what happens, we'll be together"

Why woman, why would you have sex with him when he was still in his wolf form?

Other than that, yeah, pretty cosy

Ame is a lil bitch though

Okay, let's talk about wolf-man genetics, just for funsies. ("Dear diary, today I went on an anime fan forum and... um....")

If wolf-men did exist, I think they would most likely have both an entire human genome and an entire wolf genome together in every cell at all times. Transformation would involve the cells changing size and arrangement - this is crazy to imagine when it comes to bones, but still more believable than instantaneous creation of entirely new cells, which would require a huge amount of energy/food; the children's fast and effortless transformations disprove that. Even transformation without cell replacement, and/or a fast wolf metabolism, would account for the children's large appetites. Fast metabolism was probably the intent.

Point is, I think Ookami's factory only prints one currency, and it's wolf-man genes.

However, even if it depended on his form, bear in mind that it takes 74 days for a sperm cell to be produced, and after they are released (at a constant rate of about 2,000 per second) they can live another two months or more in the testes. So even if he were capable of delivering pure-human payloads, he would have to stay out of wolf form completely for half a year to be sure of it. On the other hand, since he was apparently in human form the vast majority of the time, the odds would be in Hana's favor not to have wolf children.

As for why Hana would make that choice, have you seen X-Men: First Class? Mystique was upset that Xavier was only attracted to her when she put on the appearance of human skin; he was repulsed by her scaly blue "true" appearance. (Whereas in real life thousands of nerds would love to get with a girl cosplaying as Mystique; but I digress.) I think this was comparable, from the other side: Hana wanted Ookami to believe that she completely accepted all of who and what he was. So she went to an extreme to achieve that, just as she later gave herself up completely for their children.

Or she was just into that. But nah, I prefer the more romantic option.

P.S. "I have more in common with a dog than I have with you." "I love dogs! I've always loved dogs!"

Just watched it and this among the best movies I've seen, even for non-anime. It had me tearing up several times and by the end of the movie I was crying. A simple but beautiful story that really had the characters spot on.

Only negative I have to say about the movie is that the first 20 minutes were kinda boring.

What did you see in the first twenty minutes of the movie? You tell me, I'll tell you more.

I've seen this movie three times now and it's seriously one of my favorite movies ever. My Mom fucking LOVED this one, probs because she can relate so much, moving to a new country with two kids and then we have to leave for college/work. This movie really is about parenthood, and growing into adulthood. The fact that the kids are wolves just acts as a proxy to show that Hana does not know exactly what to do and how to handle these kids, when in real life that's how a lot of parents feel about their perfectly normal kids. The story is really pretty simple, but just handled so elegantly. I really need to see more Mamoru Hosoda. Should be seeing The Boy and The Beast soon though =)

After hearing about how terrific and wonderful this movie was, I finally decided to purchase it and see what all the hype was about. To say the least, I was really excited as I enjoy Momoru Hosoda's work. But after the credits finished, I found myself feeling much less impressed than I thought I would be.

First off, I'm really glad I'm not the only bothered at the fact that he was in his wolf form during sex. As a movie that seems to be about family values and whatnot, this was really off putting. But bestiality in general is really off putting. I ask, why? Why in the hell wasn't he in human form? I don't mind that he's a wolf at all, but what was the point of that? And why wa she ok with having sex with a wolf? Yes, that's the man she loves, which is great, but there was really no conceivable reason to have him be in wolf form other than showing they were from "two different worlds". This is something that unfortunately stuck with me throughout the film and I could never shake it off.

The real gem of this story was Hana. Plain and simple. She was so strong, tough, courageous, and fiercely independent. I found myself cheering for her almost immediately. She was charming and endearing. Her positive attitude was even contagious in a sense. She wasn't perfect, and had a lot to learn. But damn it, I have a new found respect for single mothers. One of the really strong themes that stayed with me throughout the movie. I just can't say enough about her character.

The plot itself was alright. It was a series of mini-arcs that showed their progression as the children aged. There was no real central antagonist or anything, more of just attempting to overcome the challenges that come with having children and keeping a secret to keep your family safe. Most problems however, seemed pretty silly and had fairly quick resolutions that made me shrug it off as the story moved along. It just wasn't as powerful as I thought the story would be for something so critically acclaimed. I found that the beginning of the movie was the most interesting part when they were infants and she was living in the big city trying to raise them on her own. Definitely the most emotional and tragic, to me at least.

I do understand the themes that came with it, like the importance of familial bonds, love, trust, understanding, and letting your children grow up and be who they want to be. All powerful themes indeed, and I do believe the film pulled them off well.

Back to the characters, the children were fairly interesting I think. How they changed as they got older was probably my favorite part about them. Yume loved being a wolf and going off exploring and playing, while Ame preferred to be human and was introverted and shy. But as they grew up, they switched roles. I thought that was a very nice dynamic. I wasn't too big on the fact that Ame just up and left and decided to just stay a wolf completely. And how quickly Hana came to accept it seemed a little off to me.

The art direction was easily the strongest aspect, as it usually is when it comes to Hosoda's work. Lovely visuals throughout the entire film. The city was alive and vibrant with many details, while the country side had a gorgeous palette filled with lush nature. The character designs were nothing special, but that's ok, because the animation really makes up for it I think. I love Hosoda's art and animation style ever since I saw the Digimon Movie as a kid.

Now the problems with the film, I've already listed off the necessary and off putting wolf sex and the quick resolutions, but another huge problem I thought was the abrupt and unexplained death of the father. It just seemed so forced and out of nowhere that it almost took me out of the film. "Why? Why did he die like that? Was he shot? Did he drown when he was trying to catch a pheasant? Why would he dumb enough to drown? He was an adult!" Questions like these lingered in my mind throughout the film which was another aspect that unfortunately stayed with me.

Another issue is, so whatever happened between Yume and that one kid? She revealed himself to him, so now what? I feel like we were supposed to see something but nothing ever came about. Yes, he said he wouldn't tell anyone but that was it? I hate loose ends.

The soundtrack was nothing too memorable. In fact, I barely remember it at all. I recall some nice orchestral scores and some peaceful violin solos, but it never really jumped out at me. But you know what they say, you know a soundtrack is doing its job when you don't even notice it.

I watched the English dub, and I can say Colleen Clinkenbeard has really solidified herself as one the most prominent and powerful actresses in the business. Jade Saxton, someone who I can say I'm usually not a fan of, impressed me as well. Her heartfelt exposition and narration really helped give the film heart.

All in all, this was a solid film with some bumps along the way. I found myself feeling somber when the credits finally rolled and it showed stills of the children. I almost felt like a part of the family. I saw these children grow since birth and now they've grown up and embraced who they are. I feel like I can understand just a little bit of what my own parents went through trying to raise a family. I think it opened my eyes a bit when it comes to parenthood.

Is this a film worth owning? I think so. But is it the masterpiece it's made out to be? Not really. I do believe it's a good film on its own and it's something everyone should see once. I may come back to it someday, but not any time soon. I wouldn't mind watching it with my mother though.

I give Wolf Children a 7/10.

I liked it overall, I think it is a mid to weak 8 in my book. I thought the Ame ending was a bit stupid. For one he lives in the forest close to his mom... I don't know why it had to be so final. I understand him being fully immersed but I still think it's stupid how final they made that moment. Like she had to let completely go of him her 10 year old boy. I don't care if he is a grown wolf, he isn't just a wolf, he is more than a wolf. I don't know why the movie made it seem like it had to be one or the other. Honestly he could do more good for the mountain as a conservationist than as whatever the fox taught him to be, definitely so if you combine both aspects. But ya know, he is 10... so he could have waited a bit longer.

This would have been a 9 if the kids were a bit older when the ending went down. They were so young so their drama felt weird to me.

Still a very entertaining movie. Good art/animation, music, story, chatacters, so on. Just a few complaints.

However the part where Ookami dies really puzzles me as they did not explained what he did and he even left his wallet in the shopping bag, as if he knew that he was going to die.

After he shopped for groceries, he left his wallet there as he was going to change into a wolf (i.e. no clothes/pockets) to hunt for more food. So it doesn't mean he expected his death.

My conjecture is that while out and probably in foresty areas, the heavy rain flooded him and he was washed downstream until that huge canal where the water level was much lower. So his death didn't take place in the canal but rather in a river upstream (similar to how Ame almost died later in the show).

The other possibility would be he fell into that canal but then as seen there were railings on the sides so I don't really think that's it.

----

Gotta agree it was kind of upsetting that Ame seemed a little ungrateful towards his family, I felt a bit frustrated when Hana wanted to follow Ame into the forest when Ame can take care of himself better than she can in the forest too. But yes, the ending was good and I totally agree with the post above me.

I know it isn't really the point of the movie but I was wishing for something between Sohei and Yuki... (okay fine, they are too young.) That scene they had by the curtain was really really touching though...

Still feel sad over Ookami's death. Because he died as a wolf they threw him into the rubbish truck. My heart totally broke at that scene. Hana was left with nothing but his driver's ID as remembrance.

But great movie overall. Both my friend and I were overwhelmed with so many feelings it took a while to calm and leave our seats after the movie ended.

I think he knew he was gonna die because wolves die at the age of 18 somewhat bit because he was human too...he dies at 24.

Another great movie by Mamoru Hosada. It's not as good as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (still my favourite by Hosada!) but it is better than Summer Wars. Amazing animation, lovely music and a touching story about a young mother struggling to look after her half wolf children. I didn't cry, but the end was bittersweet and nice. 9/10

I'm surprised to see low ratings for this movie though and so many agreeing. I can't see anything here that warrants a 5 or less, it doesn't deserve that at all. There are far, FAR worse anime out there. *cough*Earthsea*cough*

This anime was very well written story and was very well executed as an anime movie.

Music, animation and story were pretty good.

A women who fell in love with a mysterious guy who turned out to be half human and half wolf. They had children together but unfortunately the wolf died while hunting something healthy for her wife.

Then the women was all alone she started raising her children on her own and had to face a lot of hardships ended up in a country side place away from others so that she could let her children explore and decide what they wanted to be i.e a wolf or human. While that grooming they had to go through some events and her daughter (she had 1 daughter and a son who was younger than her daughter) decided that she wanted to go to school after which they grew up and went through some events.

In the end, the son decided to live in the mountains as a wolf and her daughter decided to be human.

This story was one of the best pieces in the genre of slice of life. Even though in the end their mom was all alone but she already had made tough choices and lived hard enough that she realized that her children were no longer children. They were old enough and she had done enough for them and what more important was she did this all alone. She worked hard and in this story we also had a glimpse of power of books that how books helped her to live.

According to me in this genre this story is 8/10.

This is the second Hosoda film where I've found myself severely underwhelmed with the story by the end of the film (more so with this one). The directing itself was wonderful and there were some truly beautiful shots and scenes and I liked Yuki's development over the course of the film, but that's about it from me as far as positives go.

Great movie!
His death was super sad, and seeing him being taken away in a garbage truck was awful.
Yuki seemed like the one who would choose to be a wolf when she was a kid, but Ame was the one after all, I hope that he visits her from time to time, not only howling.

Hmm this really could have needed a drama tag >.>

Really amazing work. Although it was kinda unexpected for me until a certain point. Never thought Ame would be the wolf and Yuki the human. Their childhood made it look very much the other way around. The first half was just awesome. It was obvious the old guy would be the one saving them :D Although I didn't expect he'd animate the entire village to help Hana.

The second half though. As much as I understand Hana's reaction with running after him - please just pick up your other child. He was running around in the forest for years already. He'll survive it. Instead she almost gets herself killed and doesn't even find him...

Also I see why Ame wanted to take over the fox' position. But at least visit your mother every once in a while. She worked her ass off to make your life as easy as possible D:

The last thing I have to say is how much Souhei's mother pissed me off. Seriously. Maybe she should have told her son not to be a dick. Sure, Yuki lost it and it was not appropriate but she definitely told him to stay away and he didn't listen. At least it turned out he isn't a total prick. Should have behaved that way before he almost got his ear ripped off. And his mother even has the nerve to put blame it on Hana... The end really did it for me though. That bitch even "forsakes" her son she was so defensive about as soon as she gets a new husband. Even if it wasn't intended as soon as the child thinks that way she has fucked up.

Anyway. I would have liked to see more of Yuki and Ame growing up or at least go further than age 12 :(

Still 10/10

I only just watched this movie today, and man I'm so glad to see people are still somewhat discussing it, as MAN, THE FEELS.

I hated the ending. Haaated it. I'm very close with my mom and have lots of siblings, and the thought of one of them just running off like that, after all she's done... augh.

I see people here defending him because "he's a wolf, not a human," but that doesn't cut it for me. Ame's father--and to a lesser extent, his sister--both showed it was more than possible for them to embrace both sides of themselves. Even if Ame wanted a more involved life in the wild than just nightly excursions, nothing in how his father and sister acted or anything the movie implied suggested he had to go so utterly rogue. Heck, even the not-seen relatives of Ame's dad apparently had ties with purely human relatives, so that's more proof that werewolves ditching out wasn't a set in stone thing. Especially when real wolves form solid family based packs. A lone wolf is usually a dead wolf.

I had no problem with the fact that he DID want to live as a wolf... I just think HOW he did it could've been shown so much better. Fighting and pretty badly hurting the sister who so long protected him? Leaving his injured mom in a parking lot and then running off without a single word? All to go play 'king of the forest' or whatever, although how exactly either Sensei or him did any good for the mountain wasn't shown at all. Not to mention that if any conservationist hears a supposedly extinct wolf howling it up out there he'll probably be captured for conservation purposes...

Bleh. I loved the early and middle parts of the movie, even though they were often sad (the dad dying, poor Hana all alone and struggling...), but I think the last part could've been handled so much better. Ame's struggle could've been shown more delicately than him simply becoming a cold and even aggressive monster. Yuki could've not completely abandoned the wolf side she once loved so much. Heck, even if they'd stuck to those paths, I could've stomached it if they'd had some credits montage showing both of them at least visiting their mother--Hana and Yuki going to see Ame's forest, Ame occasionally slipping in for a meal with them. But as it was it felt like poor Hana was abandoned and both kids got so polarized that they lost something. Ame more so, but Yuki to some extent as well. It was a lovely movie but the last part of it did nothing for me. >___<

Beautiful movie. Hana is a super great mom, even after her husband's death, she didn't break down and did everything she can to give her children a life where they could choose what they want to do. Was interesting how Yuki and Ame roles got swapped as their grew older.

What I would change about this : When Ookami died I wished he reverted to back to his human form so he could get an actual burial instead of going in the trash. But maybe I'm overthinking things as Hana would have to pay for the expenses involving the funeral and other stuff making her get into debt and maybe unable to care for Yuki and Ame. Unless she could somehow get all of that taken care of for free or at least at an affordable price.

WOW this movie was beautiful and touching T///T <3 loved the ending! The beautiful soundtracks are a plus.
Hana is best mom. I give her props for being a mother and father for Yuki and Ame when the dad passed away. Too bad he was a goner.
Lowkey cried at the scene where Yuki revealed herself to Souhei and he said he would keep her secret (that was so beautiful!), when I also thought Ame would be a goner (where he drowned for a sec), and of course the ending where Ame rescued his mother on the mountains and returned up there.
I like how Yuki chooses to be human like her mother and Ame a wolf just like his father. I enjoyed it a lot, I give it a 9/10!

I watched this movie today [in 2017] and i know no one gives a damn about my opinion but till i want to shout out my heart .

Why I love this movie ?
1 . It had no drama , NO so called perfect anime characters but still this movie touches your heart to the core .

2. Hana : She tried here best even against all the odds . She was s calm , gentle , hardworking and strong all at the same time.

3. Children behaved like children , rough and naughty :D. Unlike other show , where they start to talk about problems of this world , talk about philosophy , Tits etc.

4. This movie depicted life as a whole , which really touched me .

A word to critics :
1> You guys think that it was awkward that Ookami was wolf during copulation. But may be because director wanted to emphasis the fact that he was a wolf and how strong their love was . In the beginning , it was said that " there are many mysterious things in this world " . So if you can accept that , so you have to accept this as well .
2> . You hated choices made bu Hana ? But that's the beauty of the movie . She was not suppose to be perfect to begin with . She was trying her best to raise her children . She was Normal , perhaps better than what you would have been in her shoes .
3 > AME's ACTION : yes , it was kind of bad . He left his mother on road , but that was because director wanted "beautiful " good bye . Remember that sun rise , water fall , when he ran from road to forest it was like transition from human life to that of wolf . That's path he had chosen .

WHICH PART MADE ME CRY

1. When Ookami died , but she was not even able to say proper good bye . He was taken like garbage .
2. In the end , Hana's hard work was awarded with loneliness .She was living alone in the remote house . It's feels sad .
2. Other moments also made me feel heavy , but i guess that's OK .

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE IN MOVIE ?
Yes , nothing is perfect . In my OPINION , Ame could have stayed with his mother and worked as guardian of forest , both at the same time . It's not like ,she was forcing any human activities on him .

TL;DR
If you watched this movie to see some drama , fantasy romance , Perfect cool , anime characters .. you watched the wrong movie . So don't underrate this movie because of your wrong choice .

Just watched this for the first time today. I have to say, it was a very touching film, and I am glad that I saw it. That being said, there is one glaring thing that sticks out to me, and that is how Ame treats his family. Yes, I know this is a topic that other people have brought up, but I want to give my thoughts on it as well.

First of all, I want to say that I don't have a problem with Ame's decision to embrace his wolf side. He is half (quarter?) wolf based on his parentage, and it is his decision which side he feels a closer attachment to. However, he turns from a shy and sickly kid to a complete loner and emotionless shell in a quick period of time. On top of that, he has absolutely zero concern for others, such as when he knows he is stronger than his sister (since he trains as a wolf and she doesn't) yet he still beats her up and destroys the house that his mother painstakingly made into a home. This is borderline psychopathic behavior and should not be condoned or encouraged, yet we do not see Hana reprimand him for doing this.

That brings me to something which I really liked about the movie, which is Hana. She is such a kind, tender, and heartwarming character, and you can't help but wish for her well-being. I think her relationship with the villagers should have been explored more; there was a plot developing around how the grandpa and other farmers eventually grew to like her, but it all suddenly stops and we never hear about them again. In fact, Hana is shown to live all by herself at the end of the movie, with no kids and no friends... what is the moral of that supposed to be?

Anyways, back to Ame. It is clear that his mother loves him very much and only wishes the best for him, but not only does he not care about this, he acts as if she's trying to harm him. He doesn't talk to her about his feelings, he runs away to the mountain without telling her, and the end is the worst part. Hana goes into the mountain to look for him out of worry (after all, his father died while hunting in a similar storm), yet when he discovers her unconscious body in the forest, he drops her off in a parking lot as if to say "get out of my land" and leaves without a word. No thanks, no "I love you", nothing. Is this behavior something we should praise and encourage in the real world? Don't tell me he's justified because he's a wolf, because he's a human too. Those people he shunned loved and cared for him, and he shrugs them off like they're worthless to him.

Ultimately, I still liked the movie despite strongly disagreeing with the ending message. Hana and Yuki are the standout characters and I enjoyed watching them grow and develop. "Wolf Children" is a 7/10 for me, and that's pretty good.

Hmm what a strange ending.

I had been putting this movie off for months and finally got around to watch it, but i cant help but feel unsatisfied, the whole movie was building up for whatever happened in the end, and what DID happen was pretty unsatisfying, they portrayed Ame to be quite the douche, i liked his story until about 2/3 in when he started being way too edgy and not caring about anyone but himself, seemed the same way with yuki but to a lesser degree.

i know they were following the light novel etc but i could think of a hundred better ways this could have ended, and that was the most boring, simplest ending they couldve chosen, and it wasnt even that emotional of a movie, take away the ost and this movie is incredibly average, all i can really say is it was alot of build up for a pretty predictable ending, guess its all just to send a message, too many flaws to count and obviously made to be a family movie, still though ost was what saved it for me and the first 2/3 of the movie of ame, he was a beast, until he beat his sister up then never even said goodbye to her lol savg.

overall 7/10
2 edgy 5 me

It was such a cute and beautiful movie!

I loved the story! and funny the timid boy ended up being the one to live as a wolf and not the girl in the end.

About to watch Kimi no na wa however, i'm still convinced this will remain as one of the best movies i've seen.

2 hours is a generous length for a movie however no time was wasted for plot development. This is a story about life so i'm glad they paced everything accordingly.

Can't think of any faults, weaknesses - 10/10.

I rewatched this movie again with my family, & my mom, my little sister, and I bawled out our eyes during certain parts.
My mom said she cried throughout the movie into the following morning.

I loved this film & I loved how understanding, emotionally strong, committed, and loving Hana, the mother, is. Whoever dubbed her in English did an excellent job. I REALLY loved her voice <3

Such a beautiful& enjoyable movie. 10/10

I just watched the movie I didn't like the characters design but the story line was amazing the plot twist of timid and tearful Ame abandoning his humanity and become an animal was huge suprise.I wanted him to see his sisters graduation ceremony or at least visit his lonely mother but sadly I don't think he will return to his human form ever again.

If you don't mind beastiality (thankfully the sex part wasn't shown), its a beautiful film, still beastiality though.

Why say beastality? humans are animal beings too and can love whoever different species/race of person they want as long as they are consenting adults. And what makes Roger Rabbit and Jessica, Eliza and Goliath, Regular Show with Eilen/Rigby (one a mole person and a raccoon person) with Margaret's parents one being a human man and a humanoid bird woman, Vastra/Jenny on Doctor Who, Star Wars/Star Trek, Hepzibah/Corsair on X-Men TAS/Marvel comics etc. no different than in this movie in terms of interspecies romance for there is nothing wrong with interspecies romance.

For 30 years since i was 5 years old when i saw Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures (the Ralph Bakshi and John K one)'s episode The Littlest Tramp where it had a sexy blonde mouse lady who married a human rich man as they even kissed after the wedding, Beauty and the Beast the TV show with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton (i had a thing for her back then) with Catherine/Vincent (a beast man who resembles a lion even with fur/claws and born that way), Splash with Tom Hanks/Daryl Hanna which has a human man and a mermaid in love, Star Trek The Next Generation then later Alien Nation and so much more showed me that love isn't just the same species/race you know.

Marvel has plenty of that as you have Howard The Duck (an interdimensional duck Being) and a human woman named Beverly Switzler, Lilandra and Xavier (mutant man and alien bird woman who's race evolved from some species of alien bird), Hepzibah and Corsair (Cyclop's human space pirate father and an alien furry skunk-cat woman), Gamora and any alien man or human etc. and that's what i love about Marvel is they don't judge odd romances as love is love you know.

Now take Regular Show for example with Eillen and Rigby are great examples as they love each other for who they are and not what they are, for appearance and species don't matter as one is a mole person and one is a raccoon person. I'm glad they finally got married at the end and have a family, same goes for Frank and Denise whom one is a humanoid bird woman and one a human man which i'm very proud the creator of this show had guts to do and did it nicely. Frank and Denise reminds me of a similar interspecies couple being Roger and Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Recent examples of interspecies love is Vastra and Jenny on Doctor Who which has an earth alien lizard woman who is lesbian married to a human woman, i'm proud of that they did too and shows love isn't just the same species/race of being.

Afterall i am a furry and do support inter-species/inter-being romances in comics, games, Science Fiction/Fantasy stories/books/movies/shows, fanfiction, art, animation etc. but ONLY if they are humanoid Being, sentient/sapient being, alien being, magical creature being (ala mermaid or gargoyle or elf or vampire etc.) or mutant being which is OK as they can consent and similar to us in some ways with body structure/parts/height/emotions/feelings etc. but NEVER to a 4 legged ordinary regular feral animal creature like say if a man does it with a regular everyday plain ordinary 4 legged Beagle, than that would be beastality as it's a thing that can't consent to Beings you know nor is a humanoid or a Being in general.

Now on Bojack Horseman in that universe humans and anthro humanoids co-exist plus it's legal for anthro humanoids to romance/marry different ones even with humans like Charolette and Kyle for example a deer humanoid woman and a human man married and have kids. The same thing applies to the Marvel lovers i mentioned.

Another example, Minerva Mink and a human man in a story series i'm reading, i mean both are sapient mammal beings who are consenting adults as she is a humanoid mink woman with parts/all like a human's even breasts underneath the fur/tail/ears with all that plus high intelligence/can think/similar DNA like a human's and all even for romantic with the man and can get married in their world and produce children even half-mink person half-human hybrids or if the children end up the same species/race as the mother.

I mean there is plenty of inter-species or inter-being romances like Cheetah/Batman on Justice League, Kit Mambo/Rene on Animalympics, Sonic and Sally, Nick/Judy on Zootopia, Star Trek/Wars alien species/races of Beings romancing other races/species of Alien beings even human beings, InuYasha and Kagome, Hellboy/Liz, Tankgirl/Booga, Aragon/Arwen (human and elf), Charlene and Vinnie on Biker Mice from Mars, Roger Rabbit and Jessica and more.

I believe in comics/games/animation/Science Fiction & fantasy stories & books & movies and shows/fanfiction etc. that people should have the right to love whoever person they want to love and the word "people" doesn't mean just human but just Being in general and as long as they are consenting adults. I am a very open minded person and when i read a book/graphic novel/fanfiction story or watch a movie/TV show or play a game i go into the world into escapism to be drawn into the stories.

As Prince Lir in Peter S Beagle's The Last Unicorn (ever read that Book and seen that movie folks?) once said when he found out by the magician Schmendrick about the loveliest girl Lir ever laid eyes on and romanced known as Lady Amalthea is a humanized unicorn that is her secret "Unicorn, mermaid, sorceress, lamia, gorgon, vampire, werewolf, gargoyle, elf, genie...no name you could give her would surprise OR frighten me...i love whom i love" which is one of my favorite quotes, and do you know what Lir meant by it?

First of all, I regret holding off on having watched this because of my silly aversion to anthropomorphic anime. I should have listened to my wife, who saw this film last year and loved it. Well I finally watched it, and, while some aspects were "odd" for me, the work is a masterpiece of the beauty of nature and the spirit of rural Japan, a part of the world that beckons me, as if to say "home".

At times, the animation was groundbreaking. The rain streaming off the roof, the clouds, the run through the snow. I wondered how they did it so fluidly, yet not having it look CG.

From what I can tell, this film is set in Toyama Prefecture. It's north of Gifu, and borders the western coast of the main island, Honshu. The west coast gets heavy snow in winter, because of the moisture from the sea. It's a gorgeous area. And, as portrayed in the film, the people are rugged, but caring.

A brother and sister choose separate paths. In a way, it was sad that Ame chose to live as a wolf, but in another way, if that is the destiny that he is most comfortable with, then so be it. Yuki chose the human way. And I think we know who she will marry later on. They are two peas in a pod, the same in spirit, yet complimentary in personalities.

A lovely story, with a lot of the best human elements in it. Every time I see a film like this, it reaffirms that humans have the capacity to be wonderful creatures.

That was the most heart warming story i enjoyed because i was raised by a single parents too. We were like those little wolves comparing our behavior. I loved this movie but Ame disappointed me when he went to the wild and decided to be an animal. I guess Yuki really wanted to be human and even going to Middle school to embrace her form. Hana was the star of the show really.

A fantastic, wondrous and awe-inspiring journey, to sum it all up. Seriously, it was just this good. Had their been a better display of animation and art especially towards the beginning and a more impactful and memorable ost, I'm sure this show would have been present in the top 5 anime movie rankings through the MAL rating system. Well, it's not like that's what hinders this movie at all even in the slightest, trust me. Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki brings to us a flawless and pure story of the importance of family. Hana, the mother, would do anything and I mean anything to support her children and make sure to find an environment to their liking. She travelled to the countryside abondoning her bright future in the cities with scholarships and etc to a countryside where the hardships of life simply keeps tumbling upon her. Yet she perseveres and strives to live even in the harshest of days for the sake of her beloved half human, half wolf like children. It's actually hard to put it in words since the beauty of the story can only be expressed through the movie honestly. While it is sort of true many say that the ending was incomplete and too open, it still does well enough to conclude things firmly I reckon. It truly was a big shock to see Ame take the initiative to be wolf-like instead of Yuki for various reasons, however it portrayed this wonderfully. Even I was sobbing when that eventful morning scene came in, but I think that last moment among mother and son was perfect as it was. Now that Ame already left in order to lead the forests or however you'd like to put it, it would be very odd and unreasonable had he come back again to human form or at least that's what I personally got from the movie. On the other hand, Yuki seemed to have been carrying on with her human-like life graduating and moving on which is great to see. Personally, if Yuki were to be leading the forests, I imagine it'd be a very hard time for her prey to survive in(Lol, that's what I first thought as the movie ended). All that said, I was kind of disappointed that Ame and Yuki never got to sort things among them and I don't think they will ever even meet again so that really is depressing and therefore slightly disappointing.
Overall, it's amazing!
