i love shows like this! first wave of shows like these were about manga production. now we finally getting more anime production shows. yess~! i just love these shows as they give me insight into how much work is put into an anime. it makes me appreciate shows like the new ubw. i cant even imagine how large of a team they need to acquire to pump out that fluid of an animation. one thing this show confirms is that studios outsource their work ALL the time. so sometimes a studio may come off inconsistent is not because they have bad artists or what not, but because they lack the budget to get more resources aka animators.

ufotable just happens to have a huge budget and i doubt the animation team would have any production problems when they already had finished animating the whole first cour even before episode 0 aired (im not sure if it's legit but you get the point)

I really enjoyed the episode and thought it was well done. I don't know if I will frequent the boards for it since people can't seem to let go of Glasslip, or even earlier works by PA Works, and it gets tiresome hearing people rip on shows for no reason what-so-ever. Really, people! It has nothing to do with this show. Why bring it up at all?

Just for kicks, I clicked through the entire list of cast and staff listed on MAL. Do you know how many of them worked on Glasslip? ONE. That is 1, a single person, Ai Kayano, who voiced a supporting role in both shows. And she is one of the most prolific seiyuu in the business today.

So can we all agree that, just because PA Works did the show and PA Works did Glasslip, it doesn't really mean that the two shows have anything to do with each other? Can we please make this the last episode discussion that Glasslip is talked about nearly as much as the show the forum is supposed to be about?

Let's see... I'm still trying to get the grasp of this anime. I wonder if it's just me because I can't feel any 'shock' from it or something... Welp, I guess it's just me since it's early in the morning and watching this is the first thing I did after waking up. I'll rewatch it later once I get into full charge.

Anywho- It's my first time watching an anime like this so I guess my perspective is kinda' new for it. Overall, it was great. I liked it. It was interesting because in the past, I used to read articles about how anime was done. Just by reading those already gave me the stress code and now by watching (anime)people actually make anime, it makes me feel a bit less worried than I used to.

CG used in the car race was also good. It was unexpected but okay, guess they added it there to give the viewers an initial thrill? ww They have it there so, um, okay. The doll talk did feel a bit weird but it's one component is stress-relieving situations so I guess it's a good thing for it to be present.

...That reminds me, I have my finals today and I can't help but feel stressed... Off to studying >> //fliesaway

It goes beyond mentioning that is nice that this is not another school life slice of life anime.

First ep was very interesting! I don't know much about anime production but I know its a tough industry. Even if the problems in the show are exaggerated for our viewing pleasure, I still find it intriguing to see more about the troubles faced to make the entertainment I almost take for granted.

Well this episode actually stressed me out...

And that's a good thing! I actually cared enough to get involved in the life of the anime they are trying to create.

I don't exactly know where it's going to go from here, but I'm very interested. If it becomes the Bakuman of the anime world, I will be all over it!

4/5

A bit like the anime Rail Wars, waiting for a similar series, I intend to speak anime; then I liked it a lot, but this is a personal account as well understood, and will be shared only if you appreciate the kind SOL and calmness in the narrative.
Drawings and animations are another excellent good job of PA Works.
The opening and ending are cute.
For now, my vote is veeery cautious, so I will give a nice 06/10! ^ _ ^

Characters introduced far too quickly there.

And I didn't like that car race thing.

Other than that, a good start, and I look forward to more.

What a rush, even I felt tired, lol. Car race seemed kinda irrelevant but I guess it was meant to be symbolic of the characters running against time.

I really enjoyed it. :)

Quite a number of stuff happened in this episode.

didn't expect a drag race - was awsome

so many characters introduced, but most of the focus in the episode was put on the events that happen in an animation studio during the beginning run of a series they produced

character design was within the realm of P.A Works; I moe-ed for a few characters, most notably Miyamori, whom we mostly saw this episode - her second last outfit in the episode was not appealing
red hair girl was moe
Segawa has some big ass titties, and a decent face

didn't find anything wrong with the animation or the art

***
to my chagrin I had to pause a lot watching this episode because some of the subtitles went by too fast for me to read and to read other text that appeared on the screen (names, signs, letters, etc.) so I think I didn't have the most optimal watching experience, but I despite that I (with some doubt/incohesiveness) gave this episode a 3 - it was ok on the poll of this thread :/

I love the theme, and I like the cast.

The cast is HUGE. Talk about huge.

Nice OP (I think the ED this episode is the actual OP)

Overall, very innovative but I am not sure if such a huge cast is going to help it gain many fans or high ratings. Hope it does it well. I am just glad that P.A. Works are back.

It was a pretty sluggish start, but I guess it was okay for the first episode of a new original anime. Honestly speaking, it didn't have too much originality to it, but it does have certain likeable aspects that brings out the flair of this anime.

Characters~
The characters in the beginning in the Animation Club were quite rushed as we knew nobody, but that was that until the timeskip. Intros seemed pretty rushed and it became hard to catch names, but the constant development of characters is appreciated, especially during that scuffle for the animation.

Plot~
Not as original and the pacing is quite slow. It follows what I believe to be a pretty regular day at the office of the main character, Segusawa. The staff seem pretty normal with no certain quirks and the days go by with some conflict arising, especially around Exodus. Pacing is slow with the talking, making me feel quite sleepy.

Music~
The OP and ED are okay. Nothing else.

4/5. Despite these flaws, I do like how the first episode turned out. Looking forward to episode 2.

Overall, a fun episode. I found it ridiculously funny at how they took a subtle jab at both Production I.G and J.C Staff by having Aoi beat the crap out of the "G.I Staff" guy in a drift race. Also, I love the hommage to Initial D.

The pacing was way too fast though, and there were so many character introductions. No way am I gonna be able to remember all those people right away.

This show has certainly got me hooked. It's interesting to see just how anime is made. I also hope they make more references to various anime like they did with Initial D. That would make this show fucking amazing.

Boring until the last part. This is way too story-focused for a pilot episode, and they barely introduced the characters. Make me feel like this is just a sneak peak into anime studio, and nothing more to it. I hope the next episode slows down a bit.

This episode was exhausting. Too talky and too many characters introduced all at once. But I like the concept. An anime that gives you a behind the scenes view of what goes into the production of anime series, makes for a much more interesting show than a yet another anime set in a generic Japanese high school.

Opening credits... wtf, this isn't Initial D.

I would much rather watch the anime they are producing in the anime instead of this anime (brightly colored magical lolis on a motorcycle, looks cool). The anime in the anime looks exactly like the anime itself, which makes it harder to tell what is anime in the anime and what is the anime.

1 and done (dropped). MAL lists it as comedy, but it's not the least bit funny. It was just horrible in general.

this is definitely not a comedy series. i wonder who the heck listed it as "comedy"
(probably the same guy who listed Aoi as "director" before it was corrected)
this series is about producing anime. nothing more, nothing less. which might explain why some think this is boring - there is no moe, no fan service, no melodrama. it's purely slice of life.

edit: and apparently you can't submit changes to the genre, so it's stuck as "comedy"

The process of an animation production getting told is interesting
A lot was told with introduction of many characters, a past and an "Initial D" race like against GI staff which is probably a pun on JC
I like the background at times, though I didn't quite recognise P.A. Works style here

Aoi has been watching too much Fast & Furious lol.

I've always been curious as to how the anime industry worked. Do anime studios have have half the episodes already in progress when ep 1 airs or do they work on one episode a week. Those have been questions that I ask myself.

Segawa was under a lot of pressure since the key frames had yet to be drawn. She probably pulled an all nighter.

MAL is right though, it has comedy elements but I completely understand if not everyone find it funny since the jokes are all subtle and are hard to pick up. You'd only get them unless you're an extreme follower of the anime industry.

The comedy part of the show is more of a parody / abridge and it would only make sense if you know something of the general topic beforehand.

I'd been meaning to get to this for a while now, the first episode seemed well enough but I can't say I'm as excited about it as I initially was when hearing about it. I've seen a few anime that cover the steps towards putting together a manga so it'll be intriguing to finally see one that deals with creating an anime. If this first episode is any indication, it's at least safe to assume that the best word to describe it is hectic.
