Streaming content provider Netflix announced on Thursday that it will distribute an original anime series, Perfect Bones, by animation studio Production I.G. The 12-episode science fiction series will mark the series directorial debut of Kazuto Nakazawa, who has previously been an animation director (Samurai Champloo) and character designer (Zankyou no Terror).

Perfect Bones is set in a future where scientists have tried to create the "perfect human" in hopes of keeping peace in the universe. After nearly achieving their goal through several children, the scientists send their "new humans" for further training where they are kidnapped by an evil organization set on using their powers to implement their own concept of a new world order.

The Washington Post reported in November that Netflix was planning to produce original anime shows as part of an effort to expand internationally. Perfect Bones will be the first original anime series to be distributed simultaneously in 190 countries.

Boring-ass premise, sounds like a Hollywood movie. It's probably gonna end up being average at best,

Hope this is not just a one-time affair, the industry really need whatever income source they could get in this age of Internet.

I wonder if the English voice cast (assuming there is one) will be actual professionals and not the people they always get for dubs.

Very interesting. This could be the start of something (hopefully something good) and the synopsis of the Anime itself doesn't sound so bad.

This a multi million dollar company we're talking about

I think they've got more than enough money to hire actual cartoon VO actors and not just people like Monica Rial and Bryce Papenbrook

I'll probably check this out, doesn't sound too bad, and this could potentially be good for anime in general.

I'm interested in if this will be dubbed, I'm guessing most-likely and if so, hopefully it could be a good opportunity for more, new, talented VAs to get some work rather than the same selection. I still enjoy the occasional dub, but hearing the same voices every time does get boring.

Huh, should be interesting, Seven Deadly Sins was a lot of fun and Knights of Sidonia was alright I suppose (although I've only seen s1), so it'll definitely be interesting to check out at the very least.

A great animator. Bound to be an AD and/or KA on some episodes.

Production I.G. has some wonderful in-house screenwriters, so it could turn out quite well.

Synopsis doesn't interest me; I'll wait for the staff list.

So who are the original creator for this show? Who wrote the story line, character and setting? Netflix or Production IG?
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

Production IG is always a yes to PTW for me. Of course staff is the most important, so there's nothing much to say yet about this project. Well, except that I was surprised to see Netflix, but it should be interesting at least. And hopefully good.

He directed Kigeki and that Kill Bill anime sequence.
That synopsis sounds pretty boring but it'd be interesting to see what the director has to offer.

always down for Production I.G, and if it's being released on Netflix, I would like to assume that this would mean a batch release and not a weekly episodic kind of release. maybe that'll ease up a lot of the pressure that comes with having to stick to a strict schedule and budget. and maybe if this is part of a production plan, studios will have a better budget too, but that's assuming that Netflix will be working in tandem with anime studios to fund these projects.

I'm interested, especially in regards to the director. I've had my eye on Kazuto lately.

"Series directorial debut" is specified for a reason. Nakazawa has only directed shorts and OVAs.

KAZUTO NAKAZAWA IS THE MAN!

Been waiting for his directorial debut, he is a godly animator/character designer, and has a lot of experience in film, TV, etc.

I.G is a huge plus, but the fact that Netflix is making an original anime; I'll need some time to soak that in.

The synopsis and the title makes it sound like an anime Version of Wolverine.

I don't like either Netflix or Production I.G . But if they're working together , I hope they end up making something decent this time.
