It got bits of intensity, fun, and comedy all at once as well some background storytelling in this episode. Ushio's role in this series is also becoming more serious. | Based MAPPA The episode was breath taking all the way through! We got to see more about Ushio's father doings, apparently he works for some secret organization led by five priests, which an old hag holds the main position. Well, I must say that I like the fact Ushio's father isn't a puppet towards them. He tried and succedded denying their orders, by not lending the Beast Spear to the monks. And, the main highlight was the animation. I fearlessly say it was FLAWLESS. The fight between Tora and Ushio's father was done so well, I thought I was watching a high-budget movie. It remains consistent all the way through the fight and that's the basic thing an anime should follow in action scenes. The fighting got better when the four monks arrived to retireve the Beast Spear. I pretty much think the animation alone makes this episdoe a 5/5, aside the excellent plot advancement and character development. I was pretty surprised Ushio was knocked out that easily, but he might have been tired or distracted to get hit by a monk, lol. Well nevertheless Tora and Shigure took care of the rest. Ushio and Tora finally set off their journey! |
| Learning more about Ushio's dad was pretty cool. Though, I guess I didn't really enjoy how there are always the few idiots that don't listen to the hierarchy, and would take things to their own pace. Hearing how there are people raised to be the candidates of the spear, hope they are an interesting bunch. Seeing Ushio go off on an adventure to find out more about his parents, I liked the "farewell party" that his dad organized. Looking forward to how these obstacles would affect Ushio. How would Asako and Inoue make their appearance, just more stuff to look forward to. A good episode, though things did take a quick turn. |

| This was already pretty good when it was episodic,but now that it going to be more centered around this plot involving his mom and Hakumen no Mono I'm excited to see what's to come. Edit: Forgot to mention the animation this episode looked fucking fantastic and it was interesting to hear that one monk guy call Tora a "lowly youkai." |

| Damn, things got really intense really fast =o This episode was amazing Ushio's dad is a fucking BEAST and HOLY SHIT his fight with Tora and that team up at the end was hypeeeeeeeee.....Man the action scenes in this episode! Really liked the bits of exposition as well as the setup for Ushio's journey to find his mom, these people that were trained to use the Beast Spear as well as this whole council and the revelation about the series' big bad I'm guessing Tora and Ushio are a great team and I can't wait to see where they go from here now |

I really wonder how highly ranked Tora is compared to the High level Youkai out there? From what I've seen he's around level 75-80 (100 being the strongest ofc) Ushio's mother thing seems quite complicated |

| Definitely excited since all the good parts are about to come now that the main story has kicked off. It's still going to be a while until the last of my favorite characters is going to be introduced, but the next few characters that Ushio's going to meet on his journey are also all pretty entertaining, so I've got nothing to complain about. But anyways... Please stop teasing manga readers like me with such stuff MAPPA, seriously! Even worse since 3/4 of their character designs are already available on the website... the wait is killing me. |

| the hakumen no mono HYPE XD Ushio's dad is right up there with the badass shounen old guys :) The fight was GOOD, they were both holding back thou. | Well holy fuck, now that the anime moved to it's plot it has become so fucking good. This episode was brutal, my heart was pounding throughout the entire episode. Before I knew it the episode was over 😭😭 Now I just wanna see more episodes but there's nothing left, fuckkkk. And his uncle, we haven't seen him before I think, what a shame :( may the surprise only be bigger though. It's also a shame that we won't be able to see those two friends of Ushio's anymore, well.... probably. Episode 8 'he is in the sky' what does that mean? :o |

| Just to reassure folks, this is not episodic. The Monster of the Week shows we started off with had characters who will reappear and play important parts in the main plot arc which we have begun. What we have been given thus far is a mere teaser of what that plot line holds. Also, don't make assumptions based on the first impressions we're given of a character--there often is a lot more to them. Up until this episode you might have thought that his father was simply some sketchy minor priest who abandoned his temple and left Ushio alone for no good reason--now we know a bit more of what he is capable of. Even a minor thing like the old comb that his father stuck in Ushio's shirt pocket may turn out to be pretty important later on, but they aren't likely to reveal anything before its time. |

But really, I think his graying wrinkly head is too advanced. late bearing perhaps... > hakumen no mono is the enemy. destined nemesis? > A woman is the leader. gender equality? > A possible rivals for the spear, connecting to politics within the org. since it seems it has factions as the leader's order was not followed. Rivals and Politics? > And most importantly, the beast spear used as weight for the noodles? pft. Hilarious? > Also, for a finishing touch, a start for an honest journey, to escape the org., find his mom, discover the truth: of his destiny, mission, family. Though it seems romance is going to be left behind. This is a new 90 degrees shift from past episodes. Journey? |

| I like how the story is progressing so far and this episode was amazingly good. Can't wait for the new arc to begin. |
| Whilst I'm not as impressed by the animation as others seem to be (c'mon, Mappa has animated better fight scenes than this), Ushio and Tora is the example I'm going to be using against all the other Summer anime regarding how to kick things up at the half-cour mark. Looking forward to how future episodes build off on this. |

| The animation of this series does not impress me, but I am interested in this series. The intro episodes were alright, but I was waiting for an episode like this to "kick-off" the main story arcs. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story unravels from here. |

| Kick-ass ep! The plot's really getting rolling now with what look's like a fairly long arc & exciting arc. And here I expected most events to happen in Ushio's hometown. The hype is real. Even so far though, I didn't feel as if any episode was wasted. The Monster of the Week episodes did a good job at building up the relationship between Ushio & Tora a bit, among other things. Mappa did the same with Garo and it worked out great, IMO. |

| Man, this episode was truly pure Gold, I mean this show is turning out to be so damn amazing it hurt's to wait every week. I really love the back and forth with Ushio and his dad, and really liked the battle scene with Tora and the old man, I mean this whole episode was so well done to the music to the epic mini battle's. The only that this week was missing was some little of the two girls but I'm that will come in the upcoming weeks.. CAN I SAY THIS HERE, I LOVE THIS SHOW REALLY SHOCKED ME AND NOW I'M HOOKED |
