| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Lol, Tora is such a funny guy trying to turn on Ushio during their time working together. I felt bad for the girls because they got involved in the supernatural horror stuff. Good episode though. Liked the comedy and drama in this. Ushio's selfless nature is quite something and I think Tora really saw a bit of that in him.  |

| Very fun episode again. Really like the chemistry between the two MC's. I'm curious on how they pacing will go and how much they'll adapt from the manga. |

| I think what will make this series shine will be the dynamic between the characters and seeing their chemistry with one another grow Ushio and Tora continues to make me fall in love with their personalities and if this series continues to showcase their everyday exploits like this, this series will truly be something great The art and animation were great and I loved the fight scenes too....Also I knew that the dark haired girl liked Ushio xD |

| Very good episode, the chemistry between Ushio and Tora is great. I start to really love this show, I was always a huge fan of Youkai. I also love the character design, there is nothing better than the 80s and 90s drawing style. |

| Another really good episode. I feel like Ushio and Tora's relationship will be kind of like Shinichi and Migi from Parasyte, where they don't really get along at first, but then eventually care about each other. Anyway, can't wait for the next episode |

| Hahaha, I cannot stop comparing this to Bleach. Either Bleach was cliche or had some influence from this series. (Tatsuki & Orihime, club helper, etc.) Anyways, it was funny how everyone caught him on camera. Liking the main duo. XD And the ED is better the 2nd episode around. :D |

| My favorite anime of the season. Honestly, how both of them are becoming close and how they fight all the time kills me :D. I almost cried when he broke the TV and after that how they fought, and Ushio looked like he was doing exercises. I love it. Damn. I am glad there will be a second season. |

| It was an alright episode. It looks like Tora's character developed from the last episode, which is nice. Why didn't the policemen follow Ushio when he was clearly trespassing? Also, that spear acting on it's own was such an asspull. It looks like the show is going to follow the "monster of the week" formula, which I'm not particularly a fan of. Hopefully it will introduce a more linear plotline later on. Overall 3/5 |
| Haha this ep was excellent. The dynamic between Ushio and Tora is great and they're easily going to start working together more. Animation is cool, funny and serious is working well for the show. 7/10. |

| Although the comedy stills feel offbeat (to me at least), the action is solid. Beast Ushio was pretty badass! Does the spear have a will of its own, or did it move because its current owner was in a pinch? Tora is the best tsundere of this season. I like how he took Ushio's side almost instinctively. They make a great pair together. Decent episode. I assume this'll take an episodic route for the first couple of episodes before diving into the main plot. |

| I started reading the manga because of how the pilot impressed me. Not only has the manga entranced me, but it makes me really appreciate what Mappa is doing and how they're adapting it. It has all the positives of a 90's style shounen work without many of the pitfalls of the older artstyle. And honestly, while the voice acting is great as a whole, there's no doubt that Rikiya Koyama is fucking amazing here. Hearing him as Tora is extremely enjoyable. Unexpectedly, I'm really looking forward to this show more and more. |
| Okay, that was better than the first episode as well as the original OVA episode. Still don't like the humor, but the action was way more exciting to watch. Can't defend the monster-of-the-week format since I'm not a big fan of it myself (as well as in the director's other works), but Ushio and Tora go through enough development to make it watchable IMO. |

| Just as a quick thing about the format/pacing: from what I read, this 39 episode plan will adapt the whole manga, 333 chapters worth, which necessitates the doing away (mostly) of the MOTW format except when necessary for the main plot. We may have some here and there but I reckon it'll be more high octane as a whole. I also read that the mangaka also worked with Mappa to choose the chapters that will be adapted. |

The mangaka wants the ending to be shown, so he helped cut stuff and fuse other things in order to get the main plot in. So it won't adapt all 333 chapters, but it will cover the necessary ground. I feel that this should work, seeing as (based on where I am now) there's a lot of stuff that can be cut out. It's not nearly as episodic as Conan and the cut stuff won't make it seem as bad as Yamada-kun was (to me) but we'll see. I have enough faith in the author and Mappa that this will work out. |
