Engineering as well, maybe,
Are you enjoying it?

Nah, I thought about saving that for when I have more time. I've only really read it twice, and was quite distracted the second. Reading anything right now? Ordered Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa a few days ago and I'm waiting for it to come in. Already read it, but it was a library book at that time

Oh no, it's fine. Any entry into literature is as good as any other, same went for me. I don't really like contemporaries, but I added you for your interest in classics. But by classics I really mean the books written in the early to middle 1900s. Undisputedly one of the greatest eras to ever grace the world. I just finished 3 novels by H.G. Wells a few weeks ago actually, which is actually late 1800's sci-fi and honestly enjoyable af even though he took a lot of scientific liberties.

Yeah, for psychological scope, I especially love The Brothers Karamazov, Demons, and Notes From Underground by Dostoevsky. I'm sorry to say that I haven't read War and Peace by Tolstoy, but the Master and Margarita by Bulgakov is such a magnificent book about a talking cat and a devil who visit Moscow. These aren't the easiest to read of course, but they're not the hardest either.

But some non-Russian literature. LOTR is so good for fantasy, but it took me a while to read the actual trilogy which is a bit more difficult than the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion which is a league harder as well. Also, the Count of Monte Cristo and 1984 were probably my 2 favorite books during highschool, and now probably The Stranger and Dox Quixote, from France and Spain respectively. One book I've always wanted to read is Lolita by Nabokov. Most people are probably appalled when just hearing the title, but I hear the book is extremely compelling, sad, self-aware, well-written, and unlike how anime would treat the same subject matter. But I should probably take my time with these books, they do suck up a ton of time. And hardest book I've probably read is Paradise Lost by John Milton, written entirely in verse, but it's very Berserk-esque stuff you would like, like if Guts and Griffith were fused into one as Lucifer.

Few things I have to say about 1984. I'm not really a book reviewer by any means, but I've always thought 1984 does a lot better as an essay than as a story. Kinda like pretty much my favorite book The Stranger, but that's a different story. But don't be too put off, the story is still there, but it often seems a bit stilted, but then again, that may be because the society within the book itself is too stilted to tell a rational story too

But the ideas presented in it. Amazing. So thoughtful, so systematic, and most importantly, so logical. None of that wishy-washy system in the Hunger Games, it's clear that George Orwell has given a monumental amount of thought into an ultimate dystopian system of government. Not too much of a stretch to say as much thought as Karl Marx has put into the Communist Manifesto, especially concerning the housing systems and routine of work. Do read it, of course it'll be a bit slow in descriptions, but the book itself is not that long.

And yeah, I love sci-fi and fantasy in anime, but find myself preferring realistic fiction for literature. And it makes sense, the most acclaimed books are like that. Like Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. I admit I read it just because I was frustrated that the Vagabond manga was taking so long to finish, and I can admit I've turned into a better person because of it. But it's worth asking, favorite sci-fi and fantasy books? I honestly haven't read that much of them

Added just to see what kind of books you like to read. And I've been eyeing Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan manga for a while now. Can't say I'm the biggest fan of novels like Pride and Prejudice, or novels that are just about romance for that matter, but I may be more inclined if there's drawings involved.
