Wielder of the Beast Spear
Yo! Welcome, ladies, gentleman and Yokai to my page.
I'm a fan of old and obscure anime, I'm primarily a huge fan of Shounen, aslong as it contains solid writing and breaks the mold, but I also have a fascination for psychological seinen anime, I also have a soft spot for Magical Girls and 'Mon Anime. Eitherway I'm willing to give anything a chance aslong as the premise interests me.
I try to be as objective as possible when rating, I have enough standards to not give everything a 9 or 10 despite it's mediocrity but I also don't throw 4's or 3's to appear "smarter"
How I rate:
10 - Masterpiece: A true piece of art and mandatory watch, even for those who aren't fans the medium.
9 - Great: A fantastic work that may have a flaw or two, but feels special and stands out in every way.
8 - Very Good: It may be far from the best but it really exceeds on executing it's genre's tropes or executes it's premise satisfyingly.
7 - Good: It has glaring issues but it's worth a watch if you like the genre.
6 - Fine: It's OK, entertaining or cute but it's not something I'll come back to often, sometimes has the potential to be a better work but the flaws outweight the good.
5 - Average: Works that you're bound to forget as soon as they're done, they don't do anything to stand out nor do anything other works didn't do better, sometimes it's works that would be bad if it wasn't for one or two redeeming aspects.
4. Bad: It just sucks but at least there's some level of enjoyment to it.
3 or lower - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I was considering joining the Secret Santa in the forums, but since I just joined and haven't added all of the stuff I've already seen yet, I decided not to as I was worried I might end up getting gifted titled that I've already seen and just forgot about. But your recommendation of Karakuri Circus is exactly what I had hoped to discover if I had joined, so thanks so much! I'm going to start it once I knock a couple more series off of my currently watching list this weekend.
you pointed out the main problems of the show, and I could really prove it by seeing the manga raws, it has practically nothing to do with the show, it's almost like an original anime made by Pierrot Studio. Unfortunately, it seems that underground shonen jump 90's manga suffered a lot from these adaptations.
I also read your Kishin Douji Zenki's review, and I was quite disappointed to find out that it wasn't faithful to the manga either, it's a shame. =/
