I don't use MAL as much but pop-in a discussion every now & then on going series, or finished ones too that really left strong impression. I've seen my fair share of anime, thought not nearly enough manga, something which I plan to fix. My VN experience is pretty limited but have some favorites I think quite highly of, while LNs are generally just not my cup of tea besides on a very rare occasion.
I generally have an idea of what I'll like in any given season so there'll be a lot of decent-to-high scores in my list and not that many below 5 or 6 even. Surprises are not expected, but greatly appreciated and often end up becoming some of my favorites. I try to keep at least some level of objectivity in my ratings & discussions which is sometimes easy while others borderline impossible.
- White Album 2 stuff:
White Album 2 is one of my all-time favorite romance & I believe Ogiso Setsuna is one of the most complex characters within such a story, even though I like Kazusa a lot too and will fully acknowledge her & Haruki complete each other better.
Pain train coming through!
Setsuna songs by the amazing Madoka Yonezawa:
Check out my twitter analysis on her character & some stuff. Also major credit to a dude called mdz who did the best analysis on her & I inspired some of what I wrote there from one of his posts as well, including the "manipulator" thing, which shouldn't be taken in a negative light in that I hate Setsuna btw, I love this gal.
Macross F is both a solid mecha & romance anime which I'd say handles it's love triangle better than some dedicated romance anime. How some things work within this universe, a.k.a. the songs performed by some of the gals having actual powerful effects on the combatants & able to influence fights is a whacky yet fun concept if you accept it. Of course, the show makes sure to explain how it works in-universe.
And of course, Sheryl Nome's top-tier, a true diva & also a natural:
Some of her songs:
- NANA stuff:
NANA's a true classic that aged like fine wine, a classic which everyone who wants to a experience a great music themed mature romance should at least try. A lot of it's songs are just lit 🔥🔥🔥
- Domestic Girlfriend stuff:
So like, the TLDR is:
Now to go more in-depth, considering Natsuo's character, this is an actual winning girl in a love triangle:
^ This artwork should speak volumes if you've paid attention to the story. Check out my detailed reddit post here on Natsuo's writing & the parts Hina plays in it, which is at the heart of their connection:
And this is the rebound lover of the story, Rui Tachibana:
Don't forget what it took for her romance to blossom:
She might have cute pouts & can cook well but dear lord, that needy & overly jealous gf vibe ~ and a girl who dumps her man at his lowest when he couldn't write anymore. Rui's purpose in this story, besides growing both emotionally & career wise, is to get in the way of the destined pairing of Hina & Natsuo from getting together sooner:
^Rui haunted by Natsuo's past choices as he followed his heart towards Hina ^
I get that tastes are a thing but ngl, people have to be out minds to think Rui's better waifu material than her sister. Hina's sheer devotion, cheerful & understanding personality aside, she also looks like this:
I actually thought this arc was to prove the resilience of NatxRui's relationship, but damn, what a surprise. 100% agree though, the love between Natsuo and Hina was stronger than the bond of Natsuo and Rui, at least in my eyes.
I guess this was also a good way to let the fans know that the bond between NatxRui is just not that strong, given the fact that she broke things off twice for practically the same reason. A great day for Hina fans though, I thought we lost it when pregnancy struck, but hey, what do you know. I'm here having a blast laughing at the like/dislike ratio in the forum.
Not yet, but I succumbed to the spoilers, so I kinda know what happens. Rui fans are literally spazzing right now man. Just look at the dislike bar, and that tells the entire story. Besides that though, what the hell. Was completely not expecting a possible Hina ending, I thought the hopes died a while ago. Still though, idk how I feel about them calling off everything because Hina is now in a vegetative state, because it kind of defeats the purpose of Hina doing all that shit for this long. Nevertheless, I think there is still a possible Rui ending, where Hina wakes up and tells Natsuo that he should marry Rui or something.
It's an anime I considered a hidden gem for the year 2015 in my opinion.

Yeah, it's honestly quite scary. Seems like these guys legit are trying to imprison Hina. I've had to delete my comments sometimes because these dudes wouldn't stop coming after me, for saying that I like Hina better.
Yes, the thing is that this story had the potential to make a decent stand-alone series despite the uncompleted comics it came from, without even altering the couse of events that much. And if you consider the last episode, minus a few minutes , they were clearly trying this and to wrap a story(line).
I don't understand this idea to produce or watch something that has no intention to actually tell a story.
(Or maybe, I'm still not over letting the TV monitor command me. XD Well, I'll just have to go watch Summer of '42 once more, in order to cool down)
Hey, I saw that you played League and thought you might want to play sometime. Feel free to add me on here or in-game if you're interested, my league name is BigT.
