I really agree with you about Re:Creators. It's so boring.

Happy New Years to you too and hopefully it’s a great year for anime :)

Yeah well Psycho Pass 2, without its blatant flaws, shitty plot twists, and dull characters, was mysteriously interesting enough and closed the story well enough to keep me engaged, so I gave it a 7. I think I’ll probably check out the movie too, because I remember there were rumors of Kogami coming back for the movie (Huzzah! Another favorite character to be possibly ruined!)

Same, unless the villains actually have redeeming qualities, I’m not a fan of recurring villains either. And the new villains from the latest chapters don’t really catch my interest all that much. Fighting “mirror” versions are probably one of the most cliché villain encounters in shounen manga and it always just ends with the original doing something a little better. Oh well, hopefully the upcoming fights are mostly fillers and the Arthur arc really blows me away.

Haha well this was the first year that I watched a full year of anime, so I would have to go through all the anime as well. But I remember I talked about it with another user and I remember saying Ping Pong the Animation. The story, the art style, the voice acting, and music were all on point for me and it’s a sports anime that breaks out of its stale stereotypes. Objectively, Ping Pong takes the cake for my AOTY. Subjectively, I would say Gin no Saji Season 2 or Mushishi. Both are just amazing in their own ways as well but fell short from Ping Pong the Animation just because neither Gin no Saji nor Mushishi are really “done” (Gin no Saji should have another season, since manga is still ongoing; Mushishi has a movie coming out next spring I think).

Notable mentions would be No Game No Life and Zankyou no Terror because they were just crazy entertaining for me, flaws aside.

How have you been feeling about the latest shows? I’m liking Junketsu no Maria and Ansatsu Kyoushitsu. I didn’t like the first episodes of Death Parade and Yuri Kuma, but I’ll keep watching them to see how they go.

Yeah shaking my head on Psycho Pass 2… I mean it’s exciting to watch at least. It’s not a complete trainwreck in terms of plot so I have no big problems with it besides the horrible characters. I’d say the script for Psycho Pass 2 is also an improvement from the writer’s previous works, so good on him. I’m not saying the scriptwriting is great though, since he’s tried to make it so complex it takes huge info dumps for the show to explain what Kamui’s been trying to do (for 10 episodes now?). But as complex as Kamui’s plans and ambitions are, the show still doesn’t feel as intelligent as the first season because of the unnecessary gore and violence… There’s a mismatch between the sophisticated story and the barbaric killings.

Yeah I would say “artificial/fake” are not the best choice of words, since all drama in anime are artificial and fake lol. But I think you were basically trying to say that there’s simply too much drama one after another in this show and that’s just not realistic for a show that’s trying hard to portray real life.

Haha that’s amazing! I’m glad you love it :) I was seriously expecting some kind of “over 9000” joke when Hawk started calculating people’s “powers,” but I guess not lol. I’m pretty excited about the next arc because it seems like it’ll focus on Camelot, hometown of KING ARTHUR. I really thought the manga would end after Hendricksen’s death(?), but I guess the manga decided to go on.

Yeah I’d give Shingeki no Bahamut an 8/10 as well because the excitement level has gone down a lot since the show started. I haven’t really liked the last couple of episodes because it was just fight after fight without much progress in the plot or character developments. All the fighting became a little bit dull for me and so I was relieved they finally kept things rolling this past episode. I’m interested, at least, to see what Favaro will do with that Bahamut tusk thing.

My anime of the season is definitely Mushishi Zoku Shou 2nd season. I just have to put this as my AOTS because it’s the last season of Mushishi and it’s been amazing but also bittersweet. It’s really just a personal bias, but Mushishi is definitely one of those anime that I wish would have kept on going no matter how much time passes. I’ll truly miss this show once it’s finished airing, and it’ll be awhile before I find another show that will bring me the same joy as Mushishi did.

Besides Mushishi, I’d say Shirobako just to spite you >:D haha just kidding. Looking at the season as a whole, I am probably most impressed by Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso because of its consistency in pacing, animation, plot, and character developments. I understand people’s complaints about it being too slow, most of the flashbacks feeling too much like fillers, or that the show is the typical melodramatic shounen that’s not very realistic. I also understand the musicians’ complaints about wanting to just hear the performance without all the dialogue in between (myself included), but all in all I just don’t see a better show at the moment. The season definitely started strong, but I just saw a lot of shows falling off as the season went on. I’d say Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso stayed consistent and is, at least in my opinion, a candidate for AOTS.

Pyscho Pass 2 is okay… but I just don’t look forward to it anymore. It ruined Akane’s character, and so now she just speaks in monotone all the time and barely acts like a human with emotions… Not only Akane but the whole cast gets almost no love by the writers because both the new and the old characters don’t get any focus at all. Instead, most of the screen time is wasted on people dying for Kamui’s cause, and yet viewers get very little revealed about Kamui. They don’t need to kill off so many people just to convey the point that Sibyl has a lot of weaknesses… what Kamui is doing is downright genocidal and not thought-provoking in any way. I don’t know. The more I think about it, the shittier the show gets, so I’m really half and half on whether I should drop it or not. Mika is the least of the problem here lol (but she’s still a bitch)

Haha that’s surprising because I actually love Shirobako thus far. I actually thought all the drama that comes up in this show were very much based off of real life experiences of people in a real animation studio. Sure, the show was made so that each episode had some sort of drama going on, but all the drama seemed believable enough for me. Perspectives, I guess.

I do think the show takes itself way too seriously, however. I feel like the people who make this show are way more immersed into the show than the viewers are, and that’s bad mostly because the show becomes interesting only to those who make it. It’s like listening to an enthusiastic art exhibit guide who rambles on about the history behind the art, the life of the artist, the art movement at the time, etc. but doesn’t realize that most people couldn’t care less of all the details since they wouldn’t understand art as well as the art exhibit guide would.

I’m glad you’re enjoying Nanatsu no Taizai :) (Gowther, unfortunately, is male ^.^;;;) You basically summed up why this manga is so great. It’s just a whole lot of fighting with some decent character development. No need for useless fanservice or unnecessary dialogue spouting some “friendship power” bullshit. I loved the fights in Byzel, especially when King tried to fist fight Cain lol. The manga gets better so if you haven’t already, you should go ahead and catch up to the latest chapter.

Favaro may be an unlikely protagonist, but I like it that he makes all the right choices without changing his personality. Even in the last episode, he stayed true to his selfish and mischievous self. Shingeki no Bahamut is staying strong and is definitely one of my favorites this season.

Yeah I would have to reread the post-time skip chapters once more to get a better idea of how I would rate Naruto, but I know that I lost interest and credibility during the Great Ninja War, where it was basically an endless back-to-back between Madara and Naruto + friends. I wanted to stop reading especially after Sasuke decided to change sides after ALL he has done to try and take revenge on Konoha. The ending made it worse because the manga really made it look like Sasuke will NEVER give into Naruto no matter what… but there he goes saying “I accept you.” I don’t feel relieved, I feel betrayed lol.
Whatever. Regardless, Naruto is an essential part of my childhood and I'm definitely going to miss it.

Oh haha I haven’t tried Gugure! Kokkuri-san! because it didn’t seem that interesting, but I guess I’ll try a few episodes.

Hahahaha “Kakumeki Valvrape” so true :D But yeah I especially hated Hamatora because in my opinion it tried to be like Psycho Pass… and failed miserably. Oh man I thought the scriptwriter would be the guy who wrote for Mardock Scarmble, but I guess not =/ And I wouldn’t be comforted by the fact that he wrote for Zankyou no Terror and Jinrui because the episodes he wrote for were not that good either... O.o I have serious doubts now about the future of the show. So far the second season is looking good, but hopefully it’s not an incoming trainwreck…

Now that I think about it, the new villain in PP2 reminds me a lot of the main antagonist in Hamatora, who was trying to give “minimums” to everyone… oh jeez. And even that antagonist seemed to be modeled off of Makishima Shougo… my god it’s going to be like Hamatora all over, or just a recycled PP1 script with little tweaks here and there. Crossing my fingers to hope that it's not, though.

That’s what a good season does to you. I’m actually watching just as much as last season, because I’ve dropped quite a few this season after the first few episodes.

You’ll love it even more when the crew finds the third sin, Ban, because he’s a badass :P It does seem like with the last episode the animation has gotten a bit more awkward than the first two =/ Whatever, if anything you should read the manga then!

You and me both man, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is <3. I’m also really excited knowing that this anime adaptation will cover the ENTIRE manga, since the manga is ending real soon.

Aww that’s a shame… because I like Shingeki no Bahamut exactly for the reason you hate it. I like Favaro because he is not some knight in shining armor that cares about honor, pride, and justice. At the same time, he’s not completely disagreeable because he always ends up doing the right thing. He’s just not bound by good morality, which makes him interesting as the main character because we don’t have to rely on him to be the good guy all the time.

Yeah I scoffed when I saw the second season of Tokyo Ghoul upcoming in the winter… Definitely not watching that :P I’d rather read the manga.

All good things must come to end… Naruto’s ending too after all these years, although I’ll really only miss the manga pre-time skip and maybe the Pain arc post-time skip (especially with Jiraiya’s death). Nonetheless, I’ve been reading it since I was a kid so I’ll miss it a lot.

Lol I dropped Ookami/Kuro after sensing an upcoming romance between the two main characters. If it maintained its humor from episode 1, I would have continued watching, but I can already tell this is just going to be another typical shoujo romance anime.
pakoko Oct 12, 2014 5:31 PM
LOL good good. No need to waste time on average shows.

YOU AND ME BOTH MAN. Mika’s attitude! A worse version of young Ginoza blechh! But yeah I feel the same. Psycho Pass S2 opener was basically the same thing as S1 opener, except Akane is basically Shinya now. I kind of expected them to change the focus of the show and spend more time exploring the new story, but I guess they wanted to show some sort of continuity from Season 1. Oh well it’s only been one episode. What really matters the next couple of episodes…

I see what you mean. I believe the mangakas of both Fairy Tail and Nanatsu no Taizai are supposed to be good friends and share ideas together so that’s probably why you get similar vibes. Unlike Fairy Tail though, Nanatsu no Taizai doesn’t emphasize the whole cheesy “power of friendship” thing and doesn’t resort to meaningless fanservice. Nanatsu no Taizai is just a raw, badass, fighting anime that reminds me a lot of Dragonball Z (the manga, not the anime adaptation).

The other two that I’m looking forward to these days are Shingeki no Bahamut and Shigatsu no Kimi no Uso. Shigatsu as a manga is already pretty amazing, and seeing the first episode adapt it so well made me really happy. Shingeki no Bahamut was exciting to watch and had one of the best opening episodes I’ve seen in awhile.

I think I’ll do that too… read the Tokyo Ghoul manga instead of watching the anime. No real meaning in watching a shitty adaptation, right? (Probably not going to watch season 2 coming this winter)

Haha sounds like the life of a busy gamer. Playing games with friends is really fun… I should really do it more often.

See you around!

Was hast du dir so vorgenommen?
pakoko Oct 8, 2014 12:04 AM
I admit that about three or four years ago, I used to watch Starcraft: Broodwar matches and they were just really fun to watch. I haven’t kept up with Starcraft 2 because of the new characters that I’m not used to seeing, but Starcraft in general is indeed a fun game to watch.

That’s good. I wasn’t going to watching 200 or so other gundam episodes just so I can watch Unicorn haha :P

It’s true O.o you do watch just about everything, based on your history. Anything you feel like dropping thus far? Or anything you really like? From your history, it seems like you’ve decided to give most of them a few more episodes.

Nanatsu no Taizai is surprisingly well adapted so I’m really happy. Although I’m still getting used to Meliodas’ voice -.-

Haha finally! Congratulations! I’ll get to Monster some day… some day… and I have yet to watch Ghost in the Shell. Oh boy I have a long list to go through…

Never heard of “burst angel,” but looked it up to find a pretty disappointing review of it. Don’t force yourself to finish it haha :D

No problem. Glad you liked them!
Lichtspiel Sep 30, 2014 10:32 AM

Also meine Top 5...

1. Zankyou no Terror (wegen der Atmosphäre, den Charakteren, der Musik (die gefällt mir so gut *-*) und natürlich wegen der Story, weil vieles erst später gelüftet wird)

pakoko Sep 21, 2014 2:09 PM
taka taka taka taka taka taka taka taka taka taka…

The sound <3

Yeah instead of focusing on MOBAs, why not just make the next big thing that will dominate E-sports? Sounds easier said than done but there are so many “spin-offs” of Dota, HoN, or LoL that it’s starting to get ridiculous.

But yeah the first week of world championship for League of Legends has just finished and it was INTENSE. Next week I’m looking forward to the European teams’ performance, since they have players I really like.

Wow you must watch from a pretty good streaming site. I usually watch the 480p ones because I’m too impatient to wait for the better quality ones. I even watch the 360p ones whenever my Internet connection is super slow.

I’ll definitely start with your recommendations if I ever get to them. Thank you for the recommendations on Miyazaki’s works.

Yeah I pressed to check out the “prequels” of Gundam unicorn… and there were so many spin offs/adaptations/prequels that I gave up trying to figure it all out. I see. I’m not a huge fan of Gundam since I haven’t watched them as a kid, but I’ll definitely check it out.

Haha Iunno if you’re looking forward to Nanatsu no Taizai, but Sawano is making music for thatshow too. I don’t mind it, but hearing Sawano’s music every season is starting to wear on me a little. He needs to take a break for once and experiment with different styles, like Yoko Kanno.

Nanatsu no Taizai is a shounen that I’ve sorta been waiting for to be adapted, I just hope A-1 doesn’t butcher it. The only thing that’s REALLY bothering me is the voice acting for the main character, Meliodas… ugh.

Why thank you. Even if I get on MAL a lot, I never do more than just check my profile. I’m taking a study break right now and decided to write back :)

Mach’s Gut~~

P.S. You seem to be a fan of Kill La Kill so I’ll leave you with a nice set of images (in case you haven't seen these already):
