Ah beautiful episode. I love the way they captured the moments of the rain. The blessing of the rain~

There were also some sorrowful moment in the beautiful moments of the rain though. Mushishi style, loved it. Poor Yasu though.

Although there was a lot of emotion in this episode, it felt like nothing was resolved. Teru will continue making rain as usual......
Ginko is well .....um just Ginko?

I do kind of agree, but there was progress in this episode.
Ginko did tell Teru that the rain and the lack of sweat/tears were a result of the Amefurashi.
Most importantly, Ginko told her to take it easier.
Because Teru was taking the blame for the loss of a few lives way too deep.

The amefurashi mushi is both a blessing and a curse. But I'm glad Ginko had that talk with Teru. After she moved forward and learned that the amefurashi will leaver her one day, she seemed to ended up happier, or more glad about able to bring rain to places that need it. Great episode, as we get to really understand Teru's feeling of loneliness.

Great episode that explored the fact that there are mushi that can coexist with humans. Most of the times we see mushi as sort of parasitic, but this is the one time when the mushi doesn't seem so much in that way.

Mushi Trivia

Feel a little bad for Teru for being a victim of Amefurashi; which ultimately cost her osananajimi's life and she couldn't even shed a tear..

Though liked how Ginko said it's nothing more than an unfortunate twist of fate and no one is at fault. Also saying, finding a way to coexist with a mushi isn't all that bad.
This guy can make living with a mushi sound like it's nothing serious. Ginko is too awesome!

Nice episode! Though cloudless, those rain scenes were marvelous, and so were the OSTs.

Seeing young Teru seeing her brother die. How she was unable to cry was sad. Of course how she has to be always on the move.
At least the rain did save the one that basically loves her.
Waiting desperately for the rain, and finally getting it. It won't be an experience that I would get.
It was nice seeing how the people were appreciating the rain!
Teru has to wait until the mushi to die out. It is kind of sad that she would wait until she can cry again.
Ginko did manage to give some hope to her. There are ways to coexist with certain mushi.

She must have been waiting all those years for someone to tell her a genuine "thank you".

I would have wanted to tell her that she's not at fault for taking so many lives away (her village), she must have saved many more lives by bringing rain to others village, saving both the nature and the humans. :)

Like the rain itself, this episode was both beautiful and melancholic. Nice surprise for me that this Mushi wasn't really harmful, and Ginko was able to get Teru to have a different outlook on life. She did seem happier at the end there.

Also, the rain taking longer and longer to come means that the Mushi is beginning to die according to Ginko.
I'd say she learned quite a lot and she also has her future to look forward to now considering she said she'd like to settle down at the end, or "take root." Before she was similar to the Mushi just aimlessly wandering, but not anymore it seems like and she accepts the Mushi.

This was worth waiting the extra week. To think that I almost forgot about it! Shame on me!

It was solid pretty much the whole way though but what really did it for me was her vow at the very end. It genuinely shows the way her whole outlook on life changed after speaking with Ginko.

I think Teru would have been able to cope with it better if there was someone who could have told her about the mushi that was with her. Ginko didn't cure her but at least he has alleviated her from the worries that it was her fault why people died and gave her the hope that someday she might be able to settle down.

Was I the only one who thought of teru teru bozu when her name was mentioned? Something that's supposed to prevent rain. Oh the irony.

Beautiful :*)

Such a sad story Teru had :( Glad Ginko gave her a push forward to just accept her fate and that it isn't all that bad so she doesn't need to despair over it.

Really, every time I listen to Ginko's neutral view on Mushi and humans I get amazed. How he just told her to live with the burden of all those lives. Love his straightforwardness ^^

But really when u think about it...having rain fall with no clouds is creepy as hell XD

This is one of those weird episodes where I was rather apathetic towards it until the ending, specifically the Ginko/Teru conversation. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why I wasn't feeling it until then nor why my tune suddenly changed with that scene but regardless, much like Teru I left this episode for the better.

Not my favorite (might even be my least favorite) but an enjoyable one nonetheless. & like most Mushishi episodes, it leaves us with a lesson we could learn as well, this time Ginko outright stated it too (albeit in a Mushishi context but the message of letting go of blame [whether it's on yourself or others] & focus on the present & future, is universal).

*Edit*

Well, it occurred to me my explanation of the message is a bit too broad. Specifically, it's about not wallowing in self-blame (or blame, as Teru's naturally reaction was to blame the Mushishi) when an unfortunate situation arises (caused by fate, if you will) & instead [continue-in this case] focus on dealing w/the situation until it can be resolved or resolves itself. Eliminating the blame allows one to see that the light at the end of the tunnel, yada, yada. That's what I got out of it anyway.

Another masterpiece. Some people have stated a different opinion, but I feel that this season has been very consistent in delivering high quality episodes. Almost each one of the 7 episodes have been masterpiece material.
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

only Mushishi to make an anime about rain, and make it fascinating =p
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.

This was definitely a great episode. I liked that there wasn't an instant cure to this mushi and that it was more about Teru accepting how to coexist and deal with it in time. The one thing that I was confused about was if the mushi was actually causing those people to get sick and die (like her brother)? There was no mention of it and the only thing that I can think of would be the constant rainfall eventually having some effect.

I think Ginko here understands Teru quite well, since he too can't stay in one place for too long and his curse has no cure. "Just an unfortunate twist of fate" - indeed. Reality won't change with regret, only with acceptance can you strive for a better tomorrow.

A peculiar episode to run into on a rainy day. What I find fascinating is how most people here treated the rain as an inconvenience where as it was a blessing to those villagers and their livelihoods.

If I'm not mistaken, Teru sounded like she was voiced by Hikasa Yoko. It was interesting to see someone else who carries the same burden of traveling like Ginko. I like how although Ginko didn't solve the problem for Teru, he gave her some peace of mind that'll let her cope with the mushi. His speech at the end was really heartfelt coming from him considering Teru can be free of it one day. For Ginko, he'll attract mushi for the rest of his life and will never be able to lay down his roots.

Not necessarily true at all. As others have stated, Ginko did far more than you think and I think as well it's very poigaint that not only Ginko was able to tell what was wrong and why--even though it wasn't instant 'cure' in the sense that Teru would have wanted, she at least understands that it won't last forever and that what she was doing by going from village to village and spreading rain where they needed was at least the best solution at the time that can work for her and the Amefurashi.

Also, I think it's very telling and beautiful how Ginko was able to quell Teru's heart and mind of the burden she unnecessarily put on her soul and made her understand that while she has to shoulder the deaths that she (and Amefurashi) caused--she shouldn't feel as though she meant to do it and just accept and let those old feelings in her heart & life go. Personally, I think the end truly exemplifies--in a beautiful and touching way--what Ginko was trying to tell her. That she didn't have to let it bring her down and depress her b/c for every bad situation that happened to her b/c of this she now truly realizes how much of positive difference she's been making.

And if you really think about, I'm sure that's no different than the words and advice Ginko has learned to live w/ within himself seeing as though he's not really in that much of different situation as her being a mushi-shi that can't settle in one place for too long. Definitely awesome and lovely episode in simplicity and story telling.

Well, I would surmise few things could have happen about this why people got sick during the rain & died:

1) Due to all of the rain-out, this caused a wash out in their crops & food (b/c it's not like you can work/plow during this)

2) Some could have caught various illnesses during the excess rain, yet could not leave the village to get medicines or get anyone to send for some sort of doctors

3) Going through rations and having nothing to eat, tends to make you weak; the weaker you get the more likely your immune system will not be at its best.

4) As an extension to point 3, excessive rain and water can bring in an influx of nasty little things like mosquitoes--which are known to carry such viral infections/diseases like Malaria. And in a small village this wouldn't take long to cause a serious epidemic

So in short, even in that sense it's still not necessarily the mushi's doing more so than a domino effect of countless other things from a natural situation as this (b/c as Ginko mention the Amefurashi mushi are more of the kind of 'nature' based mushi).

A lot of empty shots of nothing which sucks, but story-wise I liked this one best out of the more recent episodes.

I like that Mushishi shows the different outcomes of coming in contact with the mushi. Some become victims, others learn to coexist. Like Ginko and Tanyuu, Teru has to live with the burden of loneliness, but the silver lining is that they can offer others a gift that is incredibly precious.

Wonderful encounter of Ginko with the raingirl called Teru (great pun)
The Amefurashi looked nice as a mirage and took her as a host drifting
It was a nice backstory with Ginko telling her to live with it which she already did with ease

There are two sides to every coin. A curse can turn into a blessing just by flipping it upside down. Or in other words It's just a matter of perception. Like all things in life.

Another great episode, It was nice to see how she eventually came to accept the amefurashi and her curse/blessing.

Also a pleasant surprise to hear Hikasa Yoko voice Teru ^_^

In addition, bad weather makes people stay inside. In other words, it makes people stay in close proximity to one another. This makes it very easy to transmit disease, and is one of the reasons why cold/flu season is in the winter.
