You claim "Re:Zero" is a harem; thus, name three characters who are in love with Subaru. Only those who don't understand the series would make such misguided assumptions. For example, some say Echidna loves Subaru even though she tried to manipulate him and has a different concept of love.
Okeanix Apr 1, 9:45 AM
Re:Zero is not harem, are you mocking with yourself?

Also fix your anime list, it's very ugly to view like your existence.

Goodbye Anime. I'm bored of the medium. Nothing really appeals to me anymore except One Piece, Kaguya season 4 and Vinland Saga season 3

Hi

Nice taste

I rate your profile 4/10 just because it's clear you spend time in writing otherwise no redeeming quality about any of your reviews

I think u need to see NewWorldReview last yt video, aslo thanks for the entertainment u I wonder what we would do if u elitist werent here

Bladen25 Dec 23, 2023 5:35 PM
Thinking what this guy did is Elitism just shows you don't know what the word means. If I critique the Mona Lisa, list a bunch of things wrong with it, state no real reasons why, blatantly incorrect statements, and have almost no real knowledge or analysis of the Art or its artist, I'm not elitist, I'm a fool. You're probably calling him an Elitist over his absurd grading curve but this sort of "Elitism" loses credibility when your statements are empty and nonsensical.

Hunter x Hunter fans be acting like Elitists until they get exposed and bullied by actual Elitists LMAO

Mononoke requires a deeper understanding of Japanese cultural nuances than most anime ask for, so I doubt you'll like it later on if the beginning doesn't excite you. It's not the type of show to teach you along the way. It's worth trying out just because the 'unique' look it has. Didn't care for Carole and Tuesday.

I'm looking forward to some shows next season so I doubt I'll start 12 Kingdoms soon. It is on my watchlist though. I read recently Escaflowne was supposed to be 39 episodes but was cut to only 26. Do you feel that the show had a faster pace in the second half? I don't remember it so well.

The early movies benefitted from the characters being children so it was fun watching them discover things about their new school. The older the characters became, the more boring and serious everything became. There was too much focus on spectacle later on. My memories hazy on the movies but that's how I remember them. The third one had a distinct atmosphere to it that the other movies lacked and had an edgy aesthetic everyone liked at the time.

Random sparks of interest are great. It's just difficult to balance work and other personal life matters with sitting for hours at a time watching or playing something. That's what happened when I played God of War. On the first day I got calls about asking how to do something in the office. Next day was similar. Third day I ended up working from home. Such is life...

I'm getting bad at this online conversation stuff. Sorry for the late response.

I think I did increased speed on Youtube for a short while but I would rather skip through a video if I had to see something in it.

I haven't watched anything from this season yet. I was supposed to last week then something else came up and never got around to it. From memory, only Revenger looks interesting to me. Vinland Saga's first season didn't amaze me and I don't like where the manga goes afterwards. I can't even recommend the Chainsaw Man anime. It definitely doesn't have the charm the manga had and instead went for a pseudo-film "serious" approach which only clashes with the fun in all the craziness the series was known for. Plenty of people loved it regardless. I thought it was okay but it didn't reach the heights I was hoping for it.

Marvel-movie like is what all of Ragnarok felt to me. There was a moment when an NPC remarked Atreus picking something up and I actually had to pause the game and take a break. It has so many quips and uses quirky commentary with childish humour like incessant swears and funny accents.

I'd recommend Rogue Legacy if you want something you can invest some time into. It's a trial and error type game. Lots of building up your characters and learning the different traits and abilities.

"Papers Please" and "Disco Elysium" are two games I've heard a lot about. Papers Please especially I think is very popular.

I might try Hogwarts on sale as well. I have no interest in the HP franchise. I haven't tried reading the books in a long time but the last time I tried I couldn't finish the first one. The movies are good but get progressively worse after the fourth or fifth.

Have you been more into anime and manga lately cause you're free from work or it's just random interest was sparked?

Even after all these years, I cannot get into Clannad. It has its moments but there's so much I hate about it.

Most MAL users operate on the idea that 7 is average or that good = average. I think it's the same for any rating website that doesn't have elitist users. My ratings don't make a bell curve and I would say forcing one betrays the uniqueness of everyone's list. Some people rate everything they dislike as 1, others give 10 to most shows unless they personally offend them, etc.

When did you start watching shows with increased speed? For me that's a sign I'm disliking a show. Have you really liked anything you watched at higher speed and do you lower the speed when you get into it?

That example from NHK is one of my favourite moments as well. The entire episode is great. One of my favourite casts, even the side characters are awesome.

I did watch some of the Ragnarok ending. I don't care for the games much anymore. Maybe I'll force myself to finish it someday but I'm over it.

I watched some gameplay of Kingdom Come Deliverance but never played it. Is the second playthrough for a different ending or just for fun? I never got into indie games. I've played Undertale, Hollow Knight and Rogue Legacy, which are some big names that get recommended often. Have you played any of those three?

The most recent movie I watched was The Banshees of Inisherin. I enjoyed it but it's hard to recommend due to it's style of drama and humour. I'm surprised you watched Wednesday. All that advertising got to you, huh? It seems nice enough but not something I'd prioritize watching. I have the older version All Quiet on the Western Front on my watchlist so let me know if the new one is worth watching too.

A nice bell curve is always good but I don't like it if it's not natural. I tend to overly hate rather than really love anime so I can't get the curve unless I force my ratings into one. Funny you mention Clannad, I was thinking of it recently and still hate it after revisiting some scenes. I don't think any show I dropped or disliked in the beginning became something I ended up liking. Probably why my dropped list stays big.

I'm on your side with that philosophy. I can tell within the first episode if it's something I'll like. I used to have that completionist attitude just because I hold that some shows or a certain amount of shows are essential to 'getting' the medium. When I watched random shows and there would be a cool animation sequence or poignant scene, it was never enough to make up all the time invested into the show. That's why I never listen to the advice of something getting better at 3 episodes or in the last half. I'd literally rather do nothing than watch anime I don't care about.

I haven't liked my list style in a long time but the default mode is boring. I'll have to find one I like.

One of the things I love about Welcome to the NHK as a whole is that each entry is different. The novel is more raw in its presentation. The drug use is explicit and Yamazaki even threatens to bomb a government building. There's hallucinations, drug experimenting, more rambling monologues and it is more direct in its flow. I read some of the manga way back and remember it being a lot more edgy. Misaki is outright psychotic in controlling Satou and he is made to be more pathetic.

I'm still just playing Genshin Impact. Most days it's like half an hour, doing daily quests, gathering some materials, events, etc. I was playing God of War Ragnarok but I dropped it about 30 - 40 hours into it. Had it pre-ordered and played on release day, too. I was so hyped because I love God of War. It's late right now so I don't want to get into but I had to stop playing after the game overwhelmed me with annoying dialogue, quests and mechanics. Any games you'd recommend?

I'm open to some movie recommendations as well. Seen anything really good recently?
devinder Feb 12, 2023 10:12 PM
Hey, I've been good. I'm doing the opposite, so I'm spending less time on here. I even haven't watched anything from this season yet. I'm going to rewatch some anime before getting into anything new. Just keeping busy with work and games and going out.

I need to give my list an overhaul as well. Are there any titles that got a big rating change when you went through your list?

How's life been since we last talked?

My apologies for such a delayed response to your comment on my profile back in March. I'll be honest I don't remember a lot of the details of the earlier conversation since it's been so long but I thought I'd point out just a few things.

>>Also just because music fails to create the emotion intended by the creator doesn’t mean it is bad. It doesn’t even mean it doesn’t fit the scene, because it can still create an emotion that is desirable by the viewer, just not intended by the creator.

I'd agree those emotions experienced by the viewer even if unintended by the creator are valid. However I also think that if you want to criticize a show, the only way to really 'objectively' analyze it would be based on an objective analysis of the subjective intentions of the author. And well, perhaps those intentions are meant to be obscure and left up to the audience to decide, perhaps they are not. That's why I think there is and always should be a lot of leeway in those kinds of things.

>>In the same vein I love that for examples in Beethoven's moonlight sonata he intentionally repeats using dissonances which are naturally unpleasant to the human ear and the whole piece is still considered to be one of the best piano sonatas ever written.

I'd just like to correct some misinformation here. While I personally agree that Beethoven was a good composer in the late classical / early romantic periods, and did innovate some in regards to western music theory, I disagree that his fame is due to the quality of his works. Beethoven's canonification in western music theory was the result of later music historians who also happened to be eugenicists who were trying to preserve Germanic supremacy... Not that I'm dissing beethoven cause he wasn't any part in that but it is no less true. For more information on the topic this video is fairly decent at explaining things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr3quGh7pJA I know this is completely not the point you were trying to make here... not sure why I brought up the topic but ah well.

>>In fact Mozarts Requiem is devided into many sections, one of which is called Lacrimosa. The whole Requiem (although being unfinished) is about an hour long and Lacrimosa is roughly 3 min of that. There are also other quite famous sections of Mozarts Requiem, like Confutatis, Dies irae and Rex tremendae. Maybe you have heard of them.

I believe my point I was trying to make at the time was that it is okay for a composer to have a classical reference in their soundtrack, and you see it everywhere. I mean you brought up the moonlight sonata, and that's found everywhere in media - commercials, movies, shows. I'm unsure why you thought it was a large problem. Legend of the Galactic Heroes for instance had almost its entire soundtrack created from 'classical music' and it fit well given what the show was trying to accomplish.

>>Is it though, or is that just what is written on its MAL page? Also, there is not just one way of making a horror show. Horror has a lot of sub genres and it doesn’t always have to be about making you scared or disgusted....

It's been quite a long time since I've seen shiki now, but my description of it as horror was based on my own watchthrough of it, not the MAL description. I agree there are lots of horror genres of course. And in regards to the music of it well, in a lot of horror you don't hear intense all the time of course. Things tend to dull if it's 100 percent allt he time. We feel more impact when there are bursts or curves of intensity. The music of course plays an integral part in maintaining that curve. Though I can't really speak about shiki itself anymore since it's been so long that I've seen it I really can't remember much about it.

I enjoyed talking with you as well about the topics!
