I do think that what you like and why you like it reflects who you are. For example, I liked Parasyte mostly because of the action and MC, showing how the MC went from being an emasculated boy to a masculine young man. HBU? Guess it depends on your definition of "Obscure". I own some volumes of Girl Got Game (AKA Power) and a decent amount of the old Trigun volumes. I also own most of Chrono Crusade. I own some newer stuff that could be considered obscure, but many of those could very well become popular down the line (such as Sakamoto Days, which I bought into day one). I might actually go to a bookstore in the next week or so in search of some more stuff.

I've honestly thought about buying some Japanese manga that I enjoy, even though I know very little Japanese. Partially to own manga that I do consider to be great and partially to support the more obscure authors whose works I enjoy. Maybe I'll try to learn Japanese and read them, I dunno.

A pretty small one, but yeah. It's mostly just stuff I really like/obscure stuff I find interesting. I'd like to own more manga someday but I don't have much space or money at the moment so I'm being selective in what I own.

Sometimes the strangest stuff gets translated. I can't believe 'Ashita no Joe' is only now getting a translation. I assume length is a factor though, as Kaiji is very long and the rights owners may not see it as a worthy investment.

I'm still pissed 'Eden: It's an Endless World' almost got a full release before being cancelled. I hope someone at least finishes the last few volumes.
