Not a surprise that the vortex is on everyone's minds including Alice, the Empire, etc.

I was expecting more from the Fifth Division 004 but Nameless made short work of them. Oh well, I didn't like Noro or whatever her name is. Not sure how I feel about Lady Kissing but she seems like the borderline emotionless type with a lot of firepower. I also wonder if that was really Alice's full power but it's certainly not to be underestimated.

Iska directly jumped in the vortex to save the commander, that's great, but the best thing was Alice blushing while holding Iska's hand, too bad they got separated at the end xD

Nameless is also strong, when he fought Alice, he was equal to Alice, but he left ...

Alice seemed eager to continue her battle with Iska

Each of our mains this episode had to fight some challenging opponents. Iska going against that Kissing girl was nuts. She is super powerful, even more so than Alice in some ways. Kissing would surpass Alice if she wasn't so unruly in her fighting, a bit more control and she'd be a real problem. Iska had to use both his swords to beat her. I still want to learn more about what his swords powers are with the astral arts. We've seen glimpses and know some of what his master did but I want to know more. The opening alludes to when he was given the swords so hopefully we will. Iska did good in the fight itself, only knocking out Kissing shows again how good of a heart he has. He doesn't view the witches as enemies like the rest of the Imperials do. Just wants to end the war.

Alice with her own fight did well too. Holding off an opponent like this mysterious Nameless guy. Unleashing her full astral power to send him packing. She's definitely got a tune for her powers and how to use them in combat. It was kind of endearing how she wanted to fight Iska again. Running around trying to find him so they could battle. Sweet moment when she saved both him and Mismis in the vortex. I wonder if the astral power from that vortex will effect the three of them.

Fight choreography looks good in this episode and the use of the universe's own language in the vortex part was kind of interesting. Aside from that, this episode was just okay for me.

Noro turned out to be a witch and kidnaps the main group's captain, who would have seen that comin'? Ik, ME NEITHER.

Having a hard time getting past everything I've already seen before but this show still features things like it's doing anything new. It's a shame though, because I like the art style and the animation. But it seems like it's almost a rule for some LN adaptations to have soulless characters...

They finally met but only for a brief moment, it was sweet.

Kissing's op and one of her ability is similar to Iska's white sword, wonder why.

Just wondering how Mismis became a captain. She's so weak and useless.

We got to see what Nameless guy could do, no doubt in my mind that he can probably stand on par with Iska and Alice.

Well Alice got scammed and did not get to fight Iska. "mission failed we'll get em next time".

Ok episode :/

I'm still wondering about how Mismis able to be the team's captain? The rest of her team is suitable for this role than her.
She's like a captain that needs everyone from her team to protect her not the captain that can protect her team.

Lmao. So, Alice really missed Iska a lot after getting a premonition from that fortune teller previously. She was so yearning and desperated, even took a blame to the vortex astral spirit which was so dare to separate them again. Well, i don't even mind that cliche cockblock. But, that scenario, and Alice statement couldn't help me for not laughing xD.

The vortex mission seemed escalated too fast. Kissing battle against Iska unexpectedly underwhelming, together with Alice versus Nameless fight as Nameless decided to retreat. Well, never expected them to loss, so yeah its understandable. What i can't believe on that situations where the captain placement was just damn ridiculous. Her role, really became a plot device to made those all events happened. Lol, keep to be awesomely useless, my nice oppai captain!

Another really good episode. No way nameless is done though, he’s going to be back and causing more trouble for Alice I’m sure of it. Wonder who the masked guy is who kicked captain into the vortex, seems like a third party of some sorts.

We’ve got some really cool things starting to fall into place with this series and I’m enjoying it. Think it’s been the most underrated of the silver link shows this year for sure.

Hmm seems Alice's suspicions were indeed correct. Though surprising Shanorotte's units betrayal sure accomplished nothing thanks to nameless's entry. If anything Nameless's MO sure is rather direct and contradicts his role as an assassin. The parallel battles that pitted Iska and Alice against Kissing and Nameless though sure was fun as both their opponents were pretty strong. Alice's little routine before shifting to serious mode though sure was cute. Iska's anger at seeing Kissing's tactics though sure was curious. But man Alice dropping after Iska to interrogate him sure was one hell of an Alice moment. Overall an interesting ep that featured a good blend of combat with some interesting expansion of Alice and Iska's relationship. While she still has more a less a blank slate its nice that we got to see Kissing in action. Im curious though on what her family intends though.

See? Should have bought the tank in the last episode. You can't get kidnapped when you are riding a tank.

Obviously, Mismis is the captain simply so that Iska and the others don't have to bother with boring paperwork. Well worth the rescue.

Yeah, this anime is perfectly okay. It has elements I want to like a lot but feels so generic. Anyways, simply because I like action romance fantasy this anime is like a 7.5 for me. But I know it deserves the rank it currently has.

Yeah I was wondering that too unless they would have had to fall to the bottom to get it or do some sort of ritual to use it.

I have read the manga, but this anime really accentuates how useless is "Captain" Mismis. Is there a character development coming for her any soon?

Pretty predictable aside, some cool battle animation. Kissing vs Iska and Nameless vs Alice were lowkey spectacular. The ending was adorbs. Guess I'll keep watching this just to pass time.

Nameless has moves, quite funny how he was dodging and blocking all those ice blades!

So once again, their fateful meeting gets ruined by another astral spirit or something, sucks to be them. But atleast the battle that may destroy every bit of it's surroundings will luckily be delayed XD

Alice blushing when holding Iska was adorable!

Also they said the vortex can boost people? So did Iska and Alice just accidentally power up at the end?

Getting uninterested with this pretty quickly, unfortunately. Characters aren’t interesting (especially the flat main pair — Mismis, Jhin, and Rin have some personality (albeit cliches) but everyone else I’m completely uninspired by so far), fights are pretty dull (Iska negates everything with sword, Alice freezes everything, they both just win), and the whole world-building/plot/war aspects of the show just don’t mesh well with the lighter/happier/goofier moments. Feels like it takes itself too seriously which becomes dull pretty quickly — especially when the draws are things like an absurd romance and an incompetent captain and not anything actually serious.

At least the flashing colours are pretty, but I think this is going to end up an incredibly bland and completely forgettable anime at best.

Pretty decent episode on the whole, the action sequences were pretty cool to watch.

Alice blushing when she mentioned the fortune teller was definitely the best part of the episode, she's too cute.

+1 to this, I feel like the way they make "Mismis" seem useless is too contrived in order to use her as a plot device to move it forward.

And I was hoping that blue haired "Captain" will stuck or die in this vortex. :'(

But now maybe she'll get some magic and her comrades will have to hide it/her from empire? Which will have at least some influence on the plot.

but i could not stop laughing at nameless dude looks cool though his moves of dodging made him look like he was a ballet dancer

action did look better this week too, was thinking "captain" would gain some powers after she got hit into the vortex or else these useless memes will continue

NGL, this episode just screams cliche from start to finish. Even with the Romeo X Juliet "branding" of sorts, this would've been passed off for better shows.

In every camp, there's a trump card of sorts, and Alice's comes in the form of her relative Kissing and the Vortex, whereas Iska is the only one formidable on his own.

But Captain 'Useless" Mismis really got herself in trouble by the opposing faction's Noro, and lucky(?) that Nameless's words and promise are kept as-is, because that's the mission prioirity.

The lifeless Kissing vs. Iska and ballerina Nameless vs. Alice, those are wicked powers. But for Iska and Alice's pact to take precedence in the vortex (with some blush), I'd hope that things take a different turn from here.

Still doing nothing to change my mind at how generic this is...Silver Link, you've really dropped the ball SO HARD.

Man I can already tell they are going to stretch this out so much. All of the events and build-up for Alice and Iska’s final fight were super cliche. I mean I see how this kind of stuff would appeal to other people, but to me it just comes off as a little boring.

Captan Mismis is captured by an imposter. I don’t wanna say she was being useless again because there was nothing she could really do about that. I mean you could argue she could stop being such an airhead, but that’s just her character. They just use her to advance the plot and create conflicts so Iska can save the day again.

Alice is a pretty cute, but an annoying character at the same time. It’s seeing her getting obsessed with Iska wanting to see him all the time, but at the same time that part of her annoys me a little. Haha I know I’m contradicting myself, but that’s kinda how I feel about her character as a whole.

Yes, Alice wants "fight". She just wants to see Iska.

Pretty good episode though, the fight with Kissing was great. Her abilities seems pretty OP but of course, not as OP as our boy Iska. Nameless chickened out though lmao.

Dang it vortex give Alice her Iska.

So Mismis fell into a vortex in this episode, does that means she going to become a witch in the future episode? I was surprised that Mismis played a huge part in this series. I thought she was just an ordinary side character. I really cant wait to see what happened to her in the next episode. Maybe she and Iska will travel to Alice's nation if she really becomes a witch in the next episode.

They just speed ran through volume 2 in 2 episodes. I had hopes of this adaptation being a 3 volume adaptation but looks like they might even try to squeeze in a 5th volume

Can't blame people for criticizing this now because Silver Link just kept all the fights in of this volume and threw away all of the world-building and explaining

That was interesting..

Also, LOL, both side got OP characters, but they're no match for Iska and Alice (which was to be expected, since that's the entire reason why the empire had to release Iska, cause they can't beat the OP mages. And the Astrals can't beat the Empire either cause the Empire also had Saints. (so they were pretty much at a stalemate)

Iska is meant to be the tie breaker, but the empire already knew he was some what aiming for peace instead of eliminate. Thus the whole reason they're making him do only a single targeted mission, which was to beat Alice. Except they also didn't expect Iska and Alice to actually get along and is soulmates, LOL.

I really like both lead characters, the story, the setting and even the supporting cast, except for the Captain. I have utterly no idea how she could possibly be a Captain- she does not lead, she can't fight, and now she has devolved from being Useless Decoration to being Helpless Female Who Must Be Rescued.
