That's a hell of a fortress.

Seems that Liza woman has knowledge about itIt seems the show still carries a degree of despair with the amount of deaths and tragedy. It's not everyday you get to see a minotaur wrecking shit yet he is eventually defeated after facing off against werewolf Hank.

I want to know more about Liza in this show though. Schaal is so useless this episode.

So this time Hank had to deal with a minotaur. Can't believe he actually made that fortress with all those traps by himself.

And Hank is a werewolf.

More shirtless Hank! And he should be fully naked when transformed! Since he'll be full power at night (you know what I mean) next episode might be difficult for him as it's look like in the midday.

So the Minotaur built the fortress to protect himself from the fear of the battlefield. Hank transforming into a Warewolf for the first time was pretty impressive. I think Elaine is still alive based on the after credit scene.

Damn Lisa must have some crazy back issues because of those gozongas. In real life her spine would be real messed up. A lot of male-service this episode, thanks MAPPA.

I love Schaal's design, but damn she stupid. Asking why do they have to hunt the minotaur as this very thing is being explained to her smh. Also, how long were these bodies left out in the open? It would take about a year for them to become skeletons under these conditions.
Liza changing her mind and letting Schaal in was way too fast, it looks like everyone in this show changes their mind in an instant.

It was a fine episode, I like the heroine.

Wish they would touch upon whether Hank would be affected by his beastly instincts or not already, although perhaps the bullet shot at him keeps him under control.

It’s nice that Theo found solace and is no longer afraid when he was dying but it’s sad that the guy did all of this because he was afraid (PTSD) and his captain didn’t even attempt to talk to him. Even if it’s futile, I think they should always attempt to calm the incarnates. Tell Theo there’s no enemy at the very least, even if he’s doesn’t believe it.

Probably the best episode out of the three that have aired so far. It wasn't too rushed, the fight in itself was nice and the OST was cool. I think the only thing they altered was Liza's first meeting with Schaal. In the manga, she at first acts a bit antagonistic towards her due jealously for her being accompanying Hank, but it was fine, since she becomes an older sister figure for Schaal shortly after that, so it was a good scene to remove.
Hopefully the anime will keep going with this pace.

I noticed that, unlike in the manga, here Theo was partially transformed when Hank found him in the fortress instead of stay in full minotaur mode like in the manga. I don't dislike the change, it makes the audience feel that he was once a human who fought for the well-being of his country and went insane due a combination of PTSD and Incarnate insanity taking their toll on him instead of a full-blown malicious monster.

That post credits scene is also anime original, btw. Claude doesn't appears till much later, but the studio probably made it to present his character to the audience, since he will be important in the future.

Next week, Behemoth, probably one of the Incarnates that I want to see in motion the most.

Schaal's reactions are fine for me at least, she's confused and wants to learn the truth (Yeah they are literally telling her what the truth is already, but she's a teenager(?) she needs time to understand the situation more, she's on the naive side of things), at least she's being calm about all this, her interactions and relationship with Hank reminds me of Emilia and Satan from Hataraku maou-sama.
That being said Minotaur dude really worked his ass off with those traps all over the damn place, and we get an increase in characters from the post credit scene, and who tf was in the huge fish like tank? Elaine?
So Hank has 2 transformations? the white hair only form and the werewolf form? Im betting he has another one.
Good ep overall, love this daily new monster fight they'd been doing, and it seems we'll get more stories in-between the monster fights from the looks of it.

It's great that we are seeing various different types PTSD that soldiers go through after war. Theo died peacefully not succumbing to fear.

Already liking Claude.

The biggest question tho, is Hank going to die at the end too? (I don't want this answered, please manga readers don't reply)

If we follow Hank's logic, he would have to die at the end too. Probably get the girl to do it too.

I think it is kind of disappointing how the screen writers have no idea of warfare . It breaks the imersion and I really want to like that anime .

Having always a buttons arround that hits exactly where Hank was simply isn't realistic or efficient.
And Hank solves this problem by creatively just being to fast and to strong for everything .wow

You can see similar problems in episode 1 where a bunch of people just run towards a fortress with 0 cover whatsoever ( who would have thought that this isn't going to work )

But the incarnates walked there just fine even before transforming.
Also tbh in an age where you have firearms many of the incarnates wouldn't be able to just tank and dominate everything

I really want to like this anime but the story hasn't done to much so far and the fights are really 3/10

Now that is one impressive fortress. Ironic in that the creator was a Minotaur who was the squads famed siege specialist. Rather than protecting the town the fortress and its lost master only serves to make the people's lives that much harder. The fortress itself as expected of its master sure had some impressive traps. The fight against Hank and Theo was quite the spectacle when combined with the tension that came from the traps being unleashed as part of the battle. Overall a solid ep that while allowing Hank to bring peace to another of his former charges also served to expand upon both Hank and Schaal's characters.

Dropped. While episode 1 was super weak and episode 2 a lot better ... episode 3 was in between. I don't really care about the chars and I think with the episodic setup this won't get better for me. Even though I still think it feels 7-ish score-wise. But I want to do more gaming atm and focusing on the anime that seem like they could be 8+ at least (exception for samurai and "classic" fantasy that i't watch as 7 as well).

The guy at the end (the one that betrayed Hank) ... he looked a bit like Embryo-sama from Cross Ange just with a bit different hair color. But similar hair style and clothing style.

I fear they might put some heavy drama forward for that extermination squad leader. (Bad past. Parents killed by Incarnats. Him going in full hate mode.)

hairygirls said:
The plot sucks, hope it gets better or it will be a fairy gone 2.0.

Every episode will be a fight against a random "enemy" without development ?

Sorry what development? There are monsters, there are good guys, there is a mastermind. They hunt monsters, Schall hints romantic feelings towards Hank because this is a third rate series, they keep hunting monsters while the general kid start sympathizing with monster, they finally get to Cain ELAINE IN THE TANK.
de-development.
I mean, look what happened: Last episode Schall tried to murder Hank and told him she is going with him to see just why he had to slay her father. Right off the bat, the next episode she lost all her hatred for Hank and just gone typical good-something-shoes "Oh BuT wHy CaN'T wE jUsT tAlK tO 'Em MoNsTeRs?". Normally, in quality works, such jumps of attitude take several episodes. Not an ending and an opening. If this is the best they can do in terms of depicting development... Well no bile there is nothing to look forward to. Not for someone who has seen several titles with proper development arcs.

Hunting the paranoid minotaur still waging war after everything is over. Sad but had to be put down as well. Nice fight, Hank's true power revealed.

Nancy is pretty with her hair down. :)
I think this thing that happened gave her a clear idea why the incarnates who went crazy need to be hunted by Hank.

Not as good as the previous episode, but still excellent. This show has me hooked at this point. I'm not sure if it's going to continue in the direction of a low level weekly monster hunting show or if it will become more high plot focused. I'm honestly fine with either. This weeks "monster" is a fearful fortress building minotaur trying to keep all the enemies away, stealing material from the nearby cities. Interesting character and a pretty unique way of turning evil. We also get to see a bit more of Hank's power.

A very emotional episode, I think it accurately displays the themes that resonate throughout the series well, despite the pacing issues.

In a series this short, I think that some pacing issues are to be expected, so I'm not really worrying about them unless they get too noticeable.

The President was not an Abe Lincoln clone. I'm very disappointed.

This is the first time I've seen actual Civil War dress uniforms in anime since Turn A Gundam.

I feel this guy was more pathetic than anything, so I felt bad he got shot. I feel like this episode has established the monster of the week format (literally) going forward of Hank showing up, killing an empathetic monster, while Nancy pleads for an impossible humanitarian solution. But we'll see.

I guess the author felt like people would not be interested in a shallow story, so instead he or I would say she threw in an attention seeking thot. To make sure people come back for just some reason.

That is a terrible argument . If you include a fantasy aspect you should still consider how the world would work arround it . Just because they turn into monsters doesn't mean that everything about this anime should be illogical .

-Oh wow this aspect doesn't exist in our world . That means that logic doesn't exist in their world right ? -
Amazing

Slightly better episode. Again The MC kills someone innocent just because he is a beast. They try to turn our emotions but what he does is murder and is inexcusable. So if a veteran has PTSD why try to cure his mental issue? Let us kill him and get rid of the danger, right? Disgusting! The little girl is the only one that seems normal in the head but she does not try to shoot him or anything. He is just a spectator to the whole thing, powerless. I expected him to be a tiger or a wolf. Reminds me of Fenrir and Skol. About the Minotaur instead of treating him like crap maybe they could have used him to build defenses around cities so that they could defend themselves if an outsider attacks them or there is an internal war starting. He was completely sane despite the bitch saying he already lost his mind a long time ago. And what is interesting is that despite being heroes the new state did not reward them jack shit. With enough funds they could have lived a peaceful life, but why spend money for the heroes when one can simply kill them, right? This show makes me puke. If the next episode does not see an improvement I am dropping it.

So now the series' format is the "Incarnate of the week". How utterly boring, until Cain Madhouse decides to show himself, that Hank has to take down. And THAT has yet to be realized. For now, most of Hank's comrades (turned beasts) at least aren't just monsters but also humans on the inside, reminiscing their humanly-selves with the Captain. I know that it's for the feels and emotions behind every person, but eh, unless you try to connect with the characters, then I'd say, screw this series.

It's pretty funny thinking that the same beings (Incarnates) ARE the same beings thwarting the post-war movement, and Hank has to sole that responsibility (with Liza as support) to help defeat the Minotaur (and future Incarnates). And this part in the manga is displayed differently (Liza taking Hank's role from the entrance midway) in the fortress that Hank helped design.

As of now, Schaal is just TOO fixated on being Hank's helper, which her useless self doesn't even equate to Hank's situation.

And watching Hank's Incarnate self is bad-ass, a werewolf. Then again, the verge to kill his former comrades is a need to stop the atrocities beforehand.

Slight improvement on this episode.

for the first few Incarnates, it’s still pretty easy business, one episode one kill. and also in earlier episode, Schaal’s father probably turn himself in to Hank in fear of hurting his kids, his dead seems peaceful, it’s like he doesnt put up any fight.

is there any Incarnates that actually helpful post-war?, i mean damn i know they’re killing machine and they really need it to win the war, but everybody knows there’s no place for a big creature, especially big AND problematic.

and i love how Schaal postponing her revenge, especially when she doesnt know a thing about Incarnates whatsoever. if every Incarnates are destined to die, i think she will have her revenge no matter what, she just need closure

i just wish there will be an Incarnate that team up or something in next ep, that will be pretty exciting

Schaal is so cute , so is Liza and so was Elaine. If nthng else this show has hot girls. JK this is show is turning out to be much better than I expected. Hanks full beast form finally shown. The fight between him and the taurus was a decent one. Also Im pretty sure the legs shown at the end when they showed Cain belongs to Elaine. She is proly alive i thnk , cause this type of anime tends to do that often and her dead body wasnt found either.
