The splash page of Bleach's upcoming chapter contains countdown text revealing the manga will soon end. It will be serialized in this year's 31st issue of Weekly Shounen Jump, to be released on July 4. The number of remaining chapters is unclear, as the final date is purposefully obscured by a black ink marking.

Bleach entered its final arc in September 2013, 12 years after it began serialization.

Update July 3
It was announced via volume 73 that volume 74, to be released this Fall, will be the final volume.

Oh my god, that tease. Is this an indirect message to HxH or something?

Bleach needed to end since the final battle against Aizen, but it's still sad know that it will end. It has been a long and entertaining ride, hope the series will end with dignity and that an anime sequel will be made now that the end is near.

Good, the series has been dragging far too long and the latest arc has been a chore to read. Now I do hope it ends on a good note in a way but the storytelling has not been impressive imo in the latest arc.

I assume it'll only be another 15-20 chapters. It frustrates me that they don't just give us the number.

I'm happy about this. I'd hate for this arc to be dragged out even more. It's a shame. The first 50 or so chapters of the final arc were great... then it went to crap. Honestly, the last 100 chapters have been the worst in Bleach's history imo.

I don't know if I'm ready for this to end. I doubt I am.

Bleach is not a perfect series, but a huge thanks to everyone for sticking with it.

(Also anyone else in dire need of a support group after this chapter?)

I dropped the manga around chapter 630, I'll just read some vol. summaries on wikia and read the last chapter to see how it ends.

It still amazes me that Bleach has been in its final arc for like 4 years now. That's one hell of a final arc. I've been watching the anime lately and I guess I picked a good time to watch it, once I finish that and go to the manga there hopefully shouldn't be too much left once I catch up. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Kubo won't say "there's actually still 100 chapters left" but I doubt that'll be the case.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

I am very glad if this is really the end of the tunnel. Still, because of this "final arc" promise a few years ago, I don't see yet the light.

@AllenVonStein After the Saint Seiya anime was cancelled and the WSJ serialization ended precociously (leaving only two tomes to the mangaka to end its story "properly") in 1991, everyone waited until 2002 for the final arc to be animated (in nicely mades OAVs at first then pretty poor ones several year laters). That was made possible only because Bandai needed a new anime in order to promote the new "deluxe" line of figurines they wished to launch.
Ultimately, the author even found a new publishing house to write his "only dreamed about" final arc in 2006

There;s like ~45% chance right now that we are getting a sequel. It would be verrry hard to end this completely right now.

Either way even if this is THE end, it will take a while, maybe even a year.

Time for me to pick it back up again. Only like a little over a year behind...although reading weekly back then was almost a pain to get through. I still like Kubo's art a lot though, so at least there's that even if I'll be rolling my eyes at every other chapter. Glad to hear it's finally ending.

It needed to end. I've been rereading it and it starts amazing but it's become complete and utter shit. It should have ended with Aizen 100%.

The reputation of the series has just been ruined.

Looking at it like this, it truly is an end of an era. Not to mention Naruto and Ansatsu (it's other two highest sellers from recent years) having ended as well. Jump probably will still stay at top, but they're gonna take a huge hit.

Gintama is also ending, maybe haiikyu too since sports manga don't usually last long.

Gintama too? Damn, can Jump recover from losing all of these manga so quickly? As far as Haikyuu goes, I'd say it's still got a good 4 years left. They haven't even started the Nationals and they could continue into the second and third years.

Both slam dunk and knb ended on ch 270 something, if the author really wanted I guess he can continue but most likely he'll end at the first year with a win at the nationals.

Though Opposite with Slam Dunk and Kuroko, the author is building up future players and even the International team, so almost certainly he will not end the series in the Nationals.
And even if he ended it in the Nationals, there is still a ton of stuff in the nationals, and they are right now in the training phase before the Nationals, and the story is already at chapter 212! So certainly it will not end in just 58 chapters from now.
Also you have Prince of Tennis that ended with 379 chapters and 42 volumes! Eyeshied 21 had 333 chapters and 37 volumes! So is not like Jump never had longer than SD and KB sport series.

Wow, looking at it like that, they're gonna take a huge hit. Meaning all the newer series will probably stay a while, even mononofu.

Someone got an early copy of the latest volume saying that the last volume will be out on 4/11 meaning 5-6 chapters left. I can't see how it could end in so little time, and for once I am sad that it will wrap up so fast. Is this Jump pushing it along I wonder?

Also someone mentioned it's ending on its 15th anniversary. 1,5 in Japanese is Ichi-Go... Don't want to give Kubo credit for that.
