The concept is funny, and the characters are entertaining. 8/10. » Watch an anime that focuses on non-romantic relationships - Sansha Sanyou (Three Leaves, Three Colors) - Complete (4/13-6/26) As with many slice-of-life series, the focus of this series is friendship. Three characters with very different personalities become friends. It is a lighthearted and enjoyable series but doesn't really stand out from the crowd. 7/10. » Watch an anime that focuses on a couple with a romantic relationship » Watch an anime with children as the main cast » Watch an anime with a non-human main character - Kuma Miko - Complete (4/13-6/22) A girl lives in a shrine with a talking bear. It is a lighthearted coming of age story set in the country; it deals with the contrast between the country and the city, and the girl's conflicted feelings. On the strength of the characters and the setting, it is more memorable than the typical slice-of-life. 8/10. » Watch an anime about food, music or art - Pan de Peace - Complete (4/4-6/26) (S) This is an entertainingly silly and stupid show with a cuteness overload. Its characters are obsessed with bread. This is an absurd, bizarre, and highly entertaining series, a fine successor to Inferno Cop. A strong 8/10. » Watch a Dementia, Horror, Demons or Vampire anime » Watch a Mystery, Thriller or Psychological anime - Kiznaiver - Complete (4/11-6/26) This is a bit of a stylistic departure for Trigger; it is relatively serious and not crazy and over-the-top like their other shows. That said, the concept is interesting, and it has enough depth that it might be worth watching a second time. 8/10. » Watch a Sports, Martial Arts, Cars or Games anime » Watch a Super Powers, Fantasy or Supernatural anime - Flying Witch - Complete (4/10-6/26) This show is a bit of a throwback to the earliest magical girl shows; it is an episodic slice-of-life. It is set in the country and has a relaxing atmosphere. The supernatural element is present, but not overwhelming, and it is simply treated like a normal part of life. Nothing highly memorable here, but it is a solid effort. 7/10. » Watch an anime with a target demographic that can apply to you (josei) » Watch an anime with a main character that is not Japanese Adaptations » Watch an anime three-cours (or more) in length - Sailor Moon R (second season) - In progress; started Apr. 26 Since this series is over three cours in length, one season will suffice for the challenge. I just finished the first season, which I started in 2015 and therefore didn't use for the challenge. This series is a particularly fine example of the magical girl genre, featuring all of the cuteness, comedy, action, and occasional seriousness that one would expect. If there is a flaw, it would be that the series probably has too many episodes and can get repetitive at times. The first season successfully told an interesting, albeit conventional, story, and the filler arc at the beginning of the second season was unusually successful for filler material. Preliminary score based on first season: 9/10. » Watch an anime that has been adapted to live action - Bartender - In progress; anime started 5/3 and live action started 5/28 I enjoy my liquor and visit bars regularly, so this series is right up my alley. This series is a low budget mess and is impressively stupid. The character designs are typical for the genre, and the backgrounds are quite colorful, although the animation is plagued by quality control problems. It is a fine children's show, and for an old fart like me, it is enjoyable escapist entertainment. Movie and Love Live!
