Tadakuni, Hidenori, and Yoshitake are students at the all-boys academy, Sanada North High School. This is a tale about just that—their daily lives as students. Winning the basketball tournament? Finding true love? You won't find any of that here. Whether it's sparking random arguments while hanging out with friends, meeting that one weird co-worker at a part-time job, or even letting imaginations run wild on a windy afternoon, we've all experienced the show's ordinary but true-to-life themes at one point or another.

— Hilarious jokes and situations, in both setup and execution
— Insightful and outrageous satire of common anime tropes
— Stellar voicing and relatable, varied cast of characters
— Segment-based structure keeps things moving before jokes grow old

— A few jokes you can see coming, a rarer few that miss the mark

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (from here on DKN) went far above and beyond my expectations. Playing off the all-too-common “schoolgirls and everyday life” genre, DKN is far more than the mere gender reversal it may first appear to be.

Having an all-male cast, ignoring the “moe” factor really works in the show's favor. There is likewise no unnecessary read more

Words cannot describe the ingenuity behind what seems to be very common and ordinary everyday practices that we sees them as 'jokes'. Every single skits have been re-watched more than my re-watch of Christopher Nolan's Batman films and the Star Trek series. The show has me grinning like a fool for hours to end, even after I've finished the show and wished for a season 2.

I also like how the simplicity of the art style adds up more volume to the humor, especially when it comes to characters expressions from time to time and does not rely on over-the-top moe characteristic for the audience read more

“I suppose if we couldn't laugh at the things that don't make sense, we couldn't react to a lot of life.” – Hobbes, from Calvin and Hobbes.

As a stressed out college student, I constantly find myself looking back at my high school years and remembering the fun old times. My all boys school meant that we could rein in free chaos without the worry of having to act proper around girls, so my class and I did all sorts of pranks and whatnot. From playing football in the hallway, to accidentally taking down a security camera, to taking down the school flag and wearing it read more

Daily lives of high school boys is A nice lighthearted comedy

There is no real central story, however time does progress as you get further into the anime.

The anime starts out simply hilarious but later on starts to become slightly more serious

I particularly liked how the anime was able to capture the simple yet funny aspects of everyday life.

As a guy I can confirm that at the very least 75% of this (or something similar) actually does happen.

my personal favorite bit is the "literary girl" segment I just love the complete awkwardness of it all.

In short this is a great anime to just read more

Anime: Gintama
Exactly the same kind of humour, but different setting.
reportRecommended by edwarx
Anime: Nichijou
Both are slice-of-life anime dealing with the everyday high school lives of boys/girls. Both can be rather hit or miss in the comedy department, though Nichijou tends to takes its jokes to whole new extremes.

Anime: Kimi to Boku.
Same kind of humor, about teenaged boys trying to figure out life.

Anime: Sakigake!! Cromartie Koukou
Surreally hilarious (and hilariously surreal) slice-of-life series about allegedy normal life at all-boys high schools.

Anime: Lucky☆Star
-Both contains School Life/ Slice of Life/Romance and is centered around comedy.
-Both animes are compiled of short stories, and are full 30 minute episodes.

Anime: Minami-ke
Same atmosphere and comedy but DKnN is with boys and Minami-ke is with girls. If you like one, you will like the other.
