I thought Shinichi was going to let him live but looks like he changed his mind at the last second. I think it would be better if he let the 50-50 chance decide.
I don't think it would've been better at all. Shinichi's entire purpose of even meeting Gotou was to ensure no other humans died. If Gotou came back based on that 50/50 those hunters and even Shinichi could be dead.

Shinichi might act all noble and say; "What right do I have to kill Gotou" which I find respectable but if Gotou came back and killed Murano I wonder if Shinichi would still believe in letting the powers that be decide.
I think despite everything Shinichi said about how we have no right to take lives, deep down, he wished that Gotou would have just died. He was acting all noble and shit (influenced by people he has met over the course of the series), but then Migi sort of scared him a little bit by telling him that the first life force on Earth was born in a boiling hot pool of hydrogen sulfide, that's when he realized that there is a fairly high chance of Gotou resurrecting, and he might risk putting his families and friends into danger, that's why he went back. No matter how much we hate our own kind for being "cruel", we do it for survival. People who have complained about how they hate their own kind because they kill animals, torture them, bla bla bla, by the end, they still consume meat, consume vegetable, they kill in order to survive. We are just hypocrites. At the end, he also said that "I am just a small human, I do everything I can to survive, to protect those dear to me" and he apologized for having to kill him by his own hand, because he realize that all that noble talk is bullshit, he can't risk having Gotou come back. It's like "we are no saint, we have to accept who we are and move on" kind of thing. The parasites are no different from humans, hence why this series is so entertaining to watch as we follow the main character who gradually learns to understand more than he himself.

I didn't word it all that well but I hope I got my intention across.

This is such an intense and beautiful episode. Shinichi's sense of desperation and futility, his inner battle with the state of earth and what the "right thing" really is, it was all so good. Though the theme is a tad overblown, I love how Shinichi begins crying when he decides he has to kill Gotou. That was so damn beautiful. I really wish this episode ended the series; the next episode is a fine, but ending it here would've made for so much more impact. The way the episode ends with Shinichi heading home and the scene panning up to the sky... beautiful. Would've been a perfect conclusion.

DAT ARM FUSION!

Migi: I can't kill Gotou. You do it Shinichi.

Shinichi: Okay....but wait...I should let the powers that be handle it, which is 50-50. *walks away* Oh snap, I forgot I got family. *walks to Gotou* Sorry Gotou, can't take the chance. No hard feelings, right? *finishes Gotou*

Damn. Muhammad Ali just died a few minutes ago, and I'm about to watch the final episode of Kiseijuu. Sad night right now.

Great final battle there.
I really thought that Shinichi would be able to put together the cells in his own body to bring Migi back to life. Turns out Migi was hiding inside Gotou all along.

Like the way Shinichi decided to kill Gotou in the end, thinking of his loved ones.
So, now that pretty much all parasytes are gone, I wonder whats gonna happen next...

Migi's return was not entirely unexpected. I was glad, though.

All the talk about humanity being the poison and the parasites being the cure... Well, this series is one of the most boring examples of the execution of such a message that I've seen, at least in my opinion.

Shinichi getting emotional for Gotou was pretty funny.

This was painful to watch. Migi is a mess. First he talks about his own morality as a parasite and that what he was about to do to Gotou would amount to murder in human perspective which he applied on his own and managed to provoke Shinichi into thinking about the nobility of survival among different species then when Shinichi decides to let nature have his way, he then dropped a bomb shell about the odds of the creation of the very first life form in Earth which then again reminded Shinichi that Gotou was a dangerous entity and an obvious threat to humanity. Just what the fuck is Migi up to? Also isn't it a tad too late to be morally upright about killing your own kind when you have been doing that all the time? I get that he developed some human emotions in him but the sudden change of heart was too unbelievable.

Tamura Reiko should have been the final villain. Gotou's too boring and his motivations are uncompelling but I guess Tamura became too human for a parasite to be a villain anymore.

This "human are the true parasites to Earth" that they tried to shoehorn in the past few episodes has got to be terribly executed. They spend their time working on some themes about existence and purpose and then all of a sudden it was about Mother Nature all along. There were some foreshadowing of this when Hirokawa answered Tamura's question about their purpose that humans have become too toxic to Earth but I did not expect them to actually pursue that path. If they intended to go that route from the start then they should have made a proper build-up to it not spout some philosophical bullshit about existentialism for the past 19 or so episodes then suddenly take a turning point and made it a story about humans polluting the Earth.

How did Migi even survive? Yes, he resided inside Gotou but don't tell me the latter never sensed Migi inside of him?

So the weakness in Gotou was his strenght, that he had to rely on multiple parasytes inside him, thus he lost control of them when Shinichi unawarely poisoned him like that...
I think it was missed oportunity they didnt explore Gotou origins more, and just left it as, Reiko created him.

Only because he' a useless human? It seems like that Migi and Shin have changed theyr personaliity in the end... I really dont'like it :/

Holy crap this episode was awesome!!! Also, I gotta say the music in this show is freaking awesome. The battle music (and dubstep XD) gets me super pumped haha. Awesome fight with Shinichi accepting death, then Migi (in his body) managing to pull together enough to block the attack, which I think allowed Migi in Gotou to be close enough to fuse back together with Shinichi. At least, that's how I understood it. I definitely thought that Shinichi was going to try and set the trash pile on fire to take out Gotou, but this was pretty good too. I kinda liked how after all that, they discussed whether it was right to kill Gotou or not - the philosophy is not lost on this one. Well, in the end, Shinichi ends it ... and heads home. A bit surprised they finished everything here, but I guess the last episode will be used to resolve everything else at home :P

I think that was the point of Shinichi killing Gotou anyways. Who are we to decide which life form deserves to live? But in reality we decide anyways. And thats the fact to this twist that matters. Making him a hypocrite made sense to me with that perspective.

Shinichi was definitely optimistic being able kill Gotou with that little chopper lol. For me it was suspicious to see Gotou sleeping. Could have been a trap, but even that Shinichi landed a good hit it didn't matter. I mean Gotou looked even crazier than before. This is what you can call monster.

Shinichi could have died so often in this episode. Just imagine Gotou didn't hit him normally but rather slashed or sliced him. For Gotou it was just kids play to the point where Shinichi accidentily rammed that poisoned rod into his body. The moment where Migi blocked that attack, came back into Shinichis arm and just casually said "Hey", was the best. I loved it and I'm so happy he's back.

There was definitely a chance he could have survived, but so many characters who died so far you can't be sure. I can't believe how much damage that poison did to Gotou. He freaked out completely and had almost no more control over the other parasites in his body. In this state it was easy for Migi to finish him off.

I can understand Shinichis conflict with killing or not killing Gotou to a certain point but tbh I also would have killed him. A 50/50 is to risky and to many people would die if he's able to regenerate. So from my point he made the right decission. I can't believe theres only 1 episode left :(

This mofo really tried to spare the life of a monster that's a potential threat to humanity. Talk about BS.

Since the death of Reiko everything went downfall so hard that's a complete nuance to watch the next episode. I'm mad and sad at the same time.
The anti-humanity narrative is nonsensical to begin with (and unscientific too, btw), I'd have rather stayed with the existential threat.
Oh, well.

And remember kids, Malthus was wrong, is wrong and will forever be wrong. The only criteria to determine overpopulation is thermodynamics. Everything else, we can solve with science and technology.

Monster dude just lets one-armed Shinichi stab him in his only vulnerable location?

Shinichi doesn't kill monster dude because...fate, the earth, some other stupid ass mumbo jumbo?

Remnant right arm parasite cells magically save Shinichi when all looked lost?

This show has gone to shit again. It's been all downhill since that police/military raid.

The fight with Goto and the Migi return felt slightly corny, but overall, still showcased a lot of progression of Shinichi and Migi's characters and overall, was a solid episode even if not close to its best. One more episode to wrap up the rewatch. It's been a pleasant ride.

Great to have best boy migi back so soon but idk about the reveal that he for some reason merged with goto when the clearly showed him shrivelling up and dying…

While I’m glad that it’s not a story simply telling us that “oh HUMANS are the REAL parasites!!!”, which isn’t really that original of a theme, this sure got close to becoming an environmental message with everything regarding the poison from the trash heap. I was like, all of that build up, for a lesson saying to not litter??

Then there’s another problem that I have personally, it doesn’t seem to have any central message it’s trying to give us. Something was real with the woman reiko tamaya whatever her name was, but all we got out of that really was revealing that a parasite was capable of some form of human emotion. Now with these final episodes, it’s just “how to defeat the REALLY strong parasite!” Maybe we got something out of shinchi deciding to spare goto and let fate decide and then turning back on that and deciding to finish the job because he does indeed value his fellow human lives. I guess it’s just trying to show that his human side indeed is still very much alive.

But other than that, it’s not as deep as I probably would’ve liked considering all the praise this has been getting. Probably shouldn’t have been looking for what was never here. Anyhow, there’s one more episode left, maybe it can surprise me with something to give me an existential crisis or what not. Fingers crossed I guess

They shove us the message of the show down our throats and yet the delivery of it is so bad..... they keep contradicting it all the time, too.
Anyway, not Migi suddenly gaining empathy for Gotou saying he'd feel guilty if he were to kill him as if he hadn't been murdering his own kind for the whole show without any contemplations LMAO he just had to feel empathy at the last minute and what's worse, it just HAD to be for the most dangerous, ruthless enemy of all. They did kind of the same thing with Tamura, we were expected to believe she truly loved her baby as if she hadn't been treating him like shit for the whole show with the exception of a breast feeding shot (but at least we had that). I wish we could have seen some nice development of those emotions but we got them all at last minute just right before dying.
And idk how they expect me to feel sad for parasytes (Gotou especially) when most of them were moustache twirling villains. If they only wanted to coexist on Earth just like any other being then ok I'd buy it, but they were shown to have fun fighting and killing people lol. Animals kill for food and survival instincts, they don't have any malicious motives but I can't say the same for that whole parasyte commitee... like they were shown in countless scenes to genuinely enjoy seeing people suffer, so that's why the whole "omg poor parasytes don't bully them </3" didn't work for me. Like I said, If they wanted that whole "parasytes deserve to live just as much as any other being" then they shouldn't have made them so sadistic lmao.
Shinichi wearing a "philosophy" hoodie is hilarious too, can't get more on the nose than that.
