| What an interesting anime to say the least. I did not know that the first episode was 48 minutes long. I mean if not for the guy who reviewed this. First of all, I'm majorly surprised by the fact that only 30,000 people have this in their list. I don't often favorite an anime after one episode( although this one practically has the length of two). They just put in so many great things this anime needs for a good kickstart. A gorgeous way of telling this story really, I mean I've never heard of Rakugo, it'll probably some part of Japanese culture. I never knew about it and if not for this anime I probably wouldn't be the slightest bit interested. But IT DELIVERS alright! Ima just continue and see for myself how this unfolds, till then this will surely stand as a doorway to the anime of 2016. |

Hell yes! But it sounds really good to this character! And actually all the voices in this anime seems like the perfect actor's choices! I'm not totally into it neither yet but it sounds pretty cool. I felt so bad when Yotarou felt asleep, ahh! |

| I'm not really familiar with Rakugo but I kinda fell in love with the first episode. I didn't expect it's 45-minute long but it's good. I love the insert songs and the animation as well. Can't wait to watch the next episodes. |

| Really epic development all in one extended episode! I really like when anime do this , without having an ending in the middle it can build up a lot more strength in both character and story development! Really interesting start in general I must say, the setting and characters and the overall concept sure is very suiting, relaxing and interesting! Let's see what happens this anime will have to offer! |

| That was really good, in so many ways! I'm already glad I started it even after winter season ended, I sure hope the show holds up. But what I heard about it so far makes me rest assured. |

| 48 min episode by Deen? Surprise, surprise. Pretty good for a 1st ep, especially the MC is rather entertaining to watch. I'm not familiar at all with this form for theater style, but it's looking good so far. |

| My goodness, it has been way too long since I've been so hooked on the first episode of a series. This one looks very promising. My only regret is not being able to marathon it (busy). edit: lol I ended up watching it all at once anyway |

| The show looks nice and i liked the setting, however i couldn't get into the show mainly because i'm not a fan of the storyline and its comedic approach, so i think i will pass this one even though taking out my bias it is good. I would say this show works better with the Japanese people or people who are familiar with Japan's culture. Great voice acting though. Drop |

| Episode 1 : Vol. 1, Ch. 1, Ch. 3 [beg], 4 I'm so glad to see that others are enjoying this series as well as I am. Ahhh. I love hearing the shamisen. I'm so excited to watch this episode. HAHA. Yotaru's voice is pretty much what I expected. HAHAHA. Yotaru, stop scaring poor Machida-san. OH, MAN. I can't wait until I see their rakugo. Ahhh... I just love it when the anime and the manga pretty much match up. Oh. We didn't meet that one person at the theatre house. So rakugo is pretty much---OH. There he is. Anyway, Rakugo is pretty much a one man show. Danggg.. I wanted to hear her Shinigam---Oh, there it is. HAHAHA. I really need to stop jumping the gun. HAHA. Whoa. I didn't realize that this episode was so long. This is where the episode differs. After, like, the thirteen mark, we get to meet Yotaru's "boss". He was a guy that took care of Yotaru and taught him his trades. Oh, his real name is Kyoji. I need to start learning these names. Man, he's just bashing on his interest. The two dads of Yotaru end up meeting and Yakumo is bringing the boss man to one of Yotaru's performances to prove that he's serious about rakugo. Yotaru seems to be doing great and the boss man is actually laughing. omg. I'm so proud. I feel like this performance relates back to his relatioinship with the boss man. Uh-oh, what if it hits close to home to him and he gets violent? iono. YOTA IS DOING SO WELL. dang. I want to go to a live performance. I could watch this all day. I wonder if these stories are made up or if they're actual lines from a performance. I'm so proud of the seiyuus that did these. I remember going through theatre. I had a tough time memorizing all of my one character's lines. They do all of the lines themselves. Everybody's laughing to Yota's performance. OMGGG. SO PROUD. Yakumo calls Konatsu out on her teaching to Yotaru because he obviously was channeling Sukeroku. OH--THIS IS CHAPTER THREE NOW. Konatsu asks about what happened to her parents. Man. Young Yakumo is really good looking. Konatsu catches Yato listening to Sukeroku's old vinyls. Mangetsu. That's the black-haired dude's name. We get to meet him now. We meet him in the second chapter but this instance is different. Oh, is Yakumo watching Yato's performance---Yes, he is. Surprised that he let Yato open for him. Man, I just love these performances, man.OH, NO, YATO. He's snoring. Omg. Yakumo is using it to his advantage. OH, NO. YATO JUST GOT EXPELLED. He's just leaving Yato in the snow. omggg. YAKUMO. YOU JUST LEFT YOUR BABY. Left him in the snow. omggg. My heart. I'm already so invested in this series. Still he's like a puppy and is still loyal to his master. He comes back and Yakumo listens to him and tells him to make his own rakugo. Second, he wants him to be able to fill the hole that's supposed to be Sukeroku in Yakumo's heart then the third is for Yato not to die before his master. Now, a story. Omg. I'm excited. I love this series, man. This is so beautiful. I'm so invested. The ending theme is so nice. |

| Great first episode. The storyline is very intriguing, the pacing was very solid, and I like the interesting subject matter with Rakugo. Hopefully the series can keep the quality of the first episode up. 5/5 |

| I've been intrigued by this anime because of all the praises its been getting but I've been putting it off only because it takes place during the Showa period.... I'm really not a fan of anything that takes place or shows that era of Japan, fictional or otherwise. I simply dislike that era. (Totally a personal preference.) So I got turned off by this anime instantly even if I actually really liked the art when I saw the trailer. Glad I decided to give this a try anyway. This first episode was surprisingly... amazing. So much progress with one episode and its the first one to boot. I'm actually expecting it to get even better from here. |

| Yakumo is rather interesting, first he wants to teach Yotarou , then he won't because Yotarou fell asleep. I can understand being mad at that, but his reaction seemed a bit exaggerated. Yotarou begged for forgiveness wich he diden't accept, but then suddenly he accepted him as a student again for w/e reason. Perhaps he has mixed feelings because of his past. Anyway looking forward to watch the rest. |
| This show brings rakugo to life much in the way Chihayafuru brought karuta to life, huh? Out of the performances we got to see, Yotarou's story about the robber was the most entertaining/my favorite. He's very good for an amateur. Yakumo's skill was apparent in his performance, but it obviously wasn't as fast-paced/humorous as Yotarou's. I can already tell that Yakumo is going to find his own style of rakugo and successfully carry it on. (Honestly, I would've fallen asleep during Yakumo's performance as well if I was short on sleep. It was well-executed, but not exactly exciting.) I hope that Konatsu gets to do rakugo as well! And that we find out what exactly happened to her father... |

| I watched the directors cut and damn that was pretty damn good. I thought I wouldn't like the MC since he was a loud mouth but he turned out to be quite likeable. |

| Goddamn. That was a great first episode and it's almost an hour. Damn. I didn't know that such thing exists in Japan: rakugo. Seems interesting that someone is doing the storytelling and the dialogues alone. What a load of hardwork which is worth the witness. An ex-convict decided to do rakugo after seeing Yakumo-san performed for them in the prison. He basically changed his life and decided to not go back to his boss and become a delinquent again. Nice nice. I like Yotaro immediately. He's a very likable character. What I love the most is Studio Deen animating or showing the whole rakugo performance. I thought it will be poses or just voices like nooo, but they delivered. So fucking satiating. I love Konatsu, and her father and Yakumo-san were good friends since childhood and I wonder if it's true that Yakumo-san killed her father. Heck, I doubt it. I guess she was just seeing things or she misunderstood the accident that caused her father's death. So, Yakumo-san is more on serious stories, meanwhile Sukeroku-san was more into comedy story in doing rakugo. I s2g Yakumo-san is so scary most of the time. He sends shivers down my spine. Waaaaah. Gambare, Yotaro, for having your own version of rakugo. :) Great first episode. Loved it. 5/5. <3 |

| The first episode was as good as I remembered it to be, now with the extra and helpful addition of the directors cut for even more. I especially love the scene where Yotaro shows to his old partner how great Rakugo can be, convicing him that it's not just a person sitting there, not to mention that his interpretation made me laugh to me as well. |

| I was hoping to love this show based off the positive reviews.... sadly, I guess rakugo is not my cup of tea. Found it very boring and ended up skipping through it. |

| Note: I watched this in two parts (taking about a 24-hour break between the interlude) so my thoughts are separated. Thoughts on the first half: So, I wasn't expecting the first episode to be an hour and a half long. That was definitely a shocker after getting invested though. This show is great so far. The characters are all different and interesting. Yotarou's rakugo performance was actually pretty funny, and I enjoy the chemistry he has with Konatsu. I can't tell if Yakumo has a method to his madness or if he is just an asshole. Only time will tell, I guess. Looking forward to the second half of this show! Thoughts on the second half: Much more of an emotional rollercoaster than the first half. The characters suddenly got much more complex, which I loved to see. I still don't fully understand Yakumo's motivations, as he seemed like a huge asshole for 95% of the episode, only redeeming himself at the end. Still very enjoyable, and I am excited to see where this show goes. |

| Now I experienced first-hand where all the praise for this series is coming from. This episode was fantastic. It's not just that I have a soft spot for high-spirited guys like Yotarou. The whole package is simply more than pleasant to watch. In particular the pacing is really good, smooth and it takes it's time. Furthermore, the rakugo parts were genuinely amusing. Love it so far. |

| Really like what I saw so far, I actually laughed during some parts of Yotaro's story, which surprised me because I don't usually find anime to be funny. The ED was also really nice to listen too, I liked how the singer was sorta whisper-singing. |
