What I was interested is whether it really ‘service’ the audiences (in particular, audiences from western anime community), or it’s more or less just a meme today. 2. I do not agree panties in real life is a sexual content (if you don’t have special fetish, of course), otherwise stores like Victoria Secrete would have a big trouble with their advertisement. 3. As I stated, I don’t find it a problem if excited well, in particular, as comedic elements. It possibly existed as ‘fan service’ in old days when character nudity was more restricted, but I question it still effectively ‘service’ the audience as we see bikini, shower scene or even soft core sexual content more and more often in today’s anime.
