I'm a casual anime fan, I usually watch things seasonally but will pick up a completed anime every now and again :)) I began watching anime in 2016-17ish, my first being the iconic Vampire Knight!
When finding my favourite animes, the number one thing I tend to look for is how enjoyable the characters and their dynamics are. You may notice that all my favourite characters are from shows I've rated 8/10+! Another element I enjoy is comedy: if a show can make me laugh, it instantly earns a few more points on my MAL ^^
In terms of keeping track of the shows I've watched, I tend to only log only the main show/season and ignore the corresponding OVAs, special episodes, etc; even if I have watched them. For me personally I find it makes my list look a bit messy and I like for it to look nice and tidy :))
I began reading BL manhwas in 2025 and, with many items on my 'plan to read', I'm slowly trudging my way through :D
Strangely, when choosing my favourite manhwas, I tend to look at plot over characters. I love getting my teeth stuck into longer stories and I love watching tension grow over many chapters. However, similar to anime, comedy is also an element I find contributes to finding my favourites!
I'm open to all recommendations and willing to give anything a try!
Shoutout if you read all of this >///<

We used to play Werewolf in my old English class, it was so fun and pushed me to find Wolvesville. I even got one of my friends from that class hooked on it... I wonder if she still plays. I'd recommend this game if you like Werewolf then, though playing with real people has the drawbacks you'd expect it to.
How much I can troll is not something I actively think about when finding a game to play. I'm quite loyal to the games I play so everything I play often, I have played for years. I do play Wolvesville as intended but if someone gets angry, I will make it worse XD
Okay, joining the Discord server was pretty funny. Do you have any further updates regarding that?
Your tendency to add even more oil to the fire makes you a bit of a little devil. It makes sense though that you don't just play for the trolling part.
Do you spend your time focusing on yourself/your studies nowadays then? How long do you have left of university?
Yeah, I was a trooper xD But it's rather chill you're close to the students in age and oftentimes it felt more like being a senior student helping out some freshmen. My master thesis involves an apprenticeship in a research group which makes the thesis take two semesters instead of one. I probably need 2-3 more depending on how it goes. Tbh I'm in a bit of a slump again, it's difficut to stay motivated -.-
I mean I do like Rem but I think part of why she's so popular is her being basically a cute and loyal household slave (if you oversimply her a bit). So I do think she heavily caters to the male gaze as well. It's just that Re:Zero is good enough to not limit her to that role.
There are definitely some bad apples there but simply put these people are just very passionate about their interests (a fictional character) which is on its own not a problem. It's just that waifu/husbando culture does attract people who have no success in romance as a mean of escapism and cope (2D > 3D and such). And these people are usually the creeps xD
Heated cat pee sounds so disgusting xD
Thankfully the laundry was washed and not ironed already so it wasn't too much of an issue albeit still annoying.
Yes, I would say my dad and brother have this kind of attitude, though my dad has gotten better this last year. Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever personally asked them to do a chore so my opinion is formed from observing my mum asking them to do something. If I asked either of them to do something, I believe it would be met with a lot of resistance. Maybe I should try for a laugh.
I have no idea if I would want kids. Presently, I can acknowledge I'm neither emotionally mature or financially stable enough to have them but it's something I would be open to in the future. I would need a reliable partner though because I would struggle to not spoil them.
It sucks that they have this attitude, I bet it would take time to fix that.
Yeah, that basically sums up my attitude towards children too xD
I'm reading the manga of Ancient Magus' Bride, I like it but it's far from my favourites. I got recommended To Your Eternity as both, anime and manga xD
Other recs for anime are Id:Invaded and Gosick and for manga Land of the Lustrous. I even own volumes of both manga series I just didn't read them yet. Basically I didn't got anything I hadn't heared of before but nothing I wouldn't watch/read either.
A nice quiet night for you then! My family went bowling today (let's just say I didn't come first XD) and later I'm going to try my best to convince everyone to play Monopoly with me. I've been hinting at it the past couple days but I've been shot down everytime. I haven't given up hope yet!!
So you're always the one hosting, we never had someone over for Christmas at least as far as I remember. I think it would be too much work for me anyway. I don't think I ate that much more than usual but my grandma always tends to overfeed us. Her being born in 1940 really shows.
I'm above average at bowling because I'm able to land straight shots consistently which the average person seems to fail at.
Monopoly is always so long, I can kinda understand why they'd shoot you down. Did you manage to convince them?
It was just -1°C so it wasn't that cold for me and I just ran about 6km. And some gloves and a cao were sufficient. We went hiking the day afterwards. While I really like hiking I rarely find the time to do that so I'm not really used to it. It took some days for my legs to fully regenerate. I really noticed it while working out.
Not really, I'm not that into the New Year's Resolutions stuff since you should kinda do something immediately instead of waiting for the next year. Do you have any plans?
This year's AWC dropped today so you could sign up if you're still interested. The lowest/highest difficulty requires watching 15/75 anime. Everything counts as long as you fully watch it between 1st January and 10th December so it's fine to sign up later too.
Do you plan on watching something this season? So far I only started Ikoku Nikki. I really liked the first episode but it has this melancholic vibe to it and I think you mentioned before not liking that too much. I'd like to start some more but I want to finish the stuff from last season first. So I'll really go into the season a bit later this time.
You being the youngest child checks out then. So I'm not into trolling because I'm the oldest? I don't know why people go out of their way to pm you after a game. It's basically an invitation to troll them more.
I had never heared of Wolvesville before but after looking it up I realized it was just the online version of Werewolf which I played a lot. Do you decide on a game based on how much you can troll the playerbase?
Oh trust me I know it's literal. I'm actually writing a totally real and very legitimate research paper so this timestamp will come in veryyyy handy :3
I'm glad I could be of help then lol
I think I'd skim through this research paper at least once xD
From my experience, the player base is mostly grown-ups in the 18-22 kind of range. They have another game (also called Animal Jam) which has an active child playerbase so sometimes you will get strays making their way over.
I didn't knew that about hummingbirds xD
It feels a bit sad that there's no active new playerbase considering how much effort the team put into the game. It doesn't seem like one of tthose sloppy produced but flashy looking cashgrabs kids play today (correct me if I'm wrong lol).
A tutor sounds interesting. How did that work? Were you employed by the university or was it something spread by word of mouth? How many hours a week did you tutor?
We have a problem with too many people attending universities and being overqualified too. But at least they are not shackled by a student debt.
I was employed by the university as a tutor. You see most lectures in my course consist of teaching hours by the professor and a tutorial run by a tutor. Students receive weekly homework assignments and tutors correct and grade them and discuss solutions during the tutorial which is usually 2-3 hours long. Grading homework takes up more time though so in total about 10-12 hours per week. It can depend a bit on the homework exercise. We help the professor grading the final exam as well.
I liked the job because I was able to fit it into my weekly schedule but I don't do that anymore because in the end it doesn't offer me any new experience since I was still working very much within the university.
I think it could be worse. It would concern me a bit if you'd dedicate your entire profile worshipping Rem. Overall I think you just show what you enjoy which happens to be Rem and that'S completely fine. While some people are a bit excessive I do think waifu culture has a bit of an undeserved bad reputation too.
That looks so funny Rem and Ram towering over Roy in their idol costumes xD
Women really get the short end of the stick here. Men who pursue women to such a degree undoubtedly see them as objects to throw away once they're finished with them. If a man ever told me he'd dated many many women in the past, my walls would be UP.
I'm the same as you and that's probably part of why I don't have much dating experience xD I wouldn't even call it conservative I think you're just being genuine in this aspect. Avoiding men who had many past relationships makes sense, there must be a reason why they had so many break ups.
Raising a kid sounds so tough, especially nowadays where it's standard for both parents to work so it's near-impossible to devote all your time to them without completely burning out. We recently had our reception children (4-5) do their nativity play and it was so so cute. Small moments like that would make all the hardship worth it imo.
I think you should make it very clear early on for you partner that you won't do the household work on your own. If they get used to someone else doing the work for them it becomes difficult to change that. At least I think that's the case for my brothers and my dad. I could get them to help once in a while but I have to actively ask them to do a certain thing every time, they do it very reluctantly and it feels a bit like they're doing me a favour which is absolutely not the case.
Does your dad and your brother have a similiar attitude?
I don't work with kids so I don't get to see such payoffs. Right now I don't see myself much as a father and having children has always been very optional for me especially since they require a partner which is already optional for me on its own.
My recipient's list was full of anime I've never even heard of and their 10/10s were either gruesome horrors or kids shows. I recommended All Saints Street because it looks like a kids show but is kinda Halloweeny? I was clutching at straws. They were also a 'no drop rule' person so I will be very surprised if they watch it but happy if they do.
Tomorrow is the reveal of the presents I think, tell me if your recipient started watcing xD I haven't heared of All Saints Street before which makes sense since it seems to be a donghua. I wonder what I'll end up getting. It would be very funny if it was something I started watching recently.
I've never heard of Tokyo Godfathers, the vibe seems really cool though; seems to be well-regarded too. It's a shame my family view anime as kiddy cartoons because this would be a good one to watch after dinner. I think we're watching a movie called Spirited this Christmas. It's a musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds: I wouldn't call it a masterpiece but it's a fun watch.
Good luck winning the Mario Kart :D
Seems like you can stay at home on Christmas. That's nice but kinda more work too I guess you and your mom had to prepare a lot.
We didn't end up watching Tokyo Godfathers we didn't had enough time and I was very tired in the evening. I think I'll just watch it on New Year's Eve alone. My brothers got invited to some parties and my parents have to work so my mom doesn't really have time to prepare anything. And right now I'm at the village my mom is from staying at her cousin's place until the 31th so my hands are tied as well.
To this day I didn't manage to find time to play on my Switch 2 -.- I have some time today since my mom's cousin has to work but I figured I could finally reply first.
I went jogging today too this time outside as there's no gym in close proximity. I'm not used to do sport when it's this cold besides cycling.
I have an early Christmas present for you:
Wendy looks so adorable in her outfit <3 Did you buy it as an early Christmas present? Does she like wearing it? The only thing my cats did was pissing in a laundry basket while we visited our grandma. My mom had to wash everything again -.-
Yes, I saw that announcement too. It just took them until the manga finished to come up with a second season xD I'm close to finishing the manga too. I read to the latest chapter in early december.
In case you don't find the time to reply I already wish you a happy New Year ^-^
Oh I do believe you. Personally I've never gotten really heated about some arguments online, guess I'm not the type of person for that. It's good that you're able to step away from the keyboard and calm down a bit. I agree, bringing up being on a kids game is pretty stupid seems like some sort of deflection when people run out of smart things to say.
Mhhh, so that's your time xD
I watched the scene and it is damn funny :D The way you described him as a 'fine ass man' seems to be quite literal given the shot of his behind I saw. It was around 0:49 I think if you need to look it up for reserach purpose.
Pretty cool how the game embedded some educational videos. The interactive element is really nice. They really put in some effort into this game. That explains how it could survive that long. Does the playerbase consists only of grown ups who used to play as a kid or are there stil children playing the game?
Great way to shackle a young generation to banks. They must make a lot of money from interests. That does make me wonder whether some courses are worth it given you have to pay back the loan inlcuding interest. Having a part time job makes sense too. I had some for some time too and want to look for one again. I used to work as a tutor at university for more than 3 years. But technically it's not mandatory for me to have one.
Please don't be sorry, I wasn't (that) uncomfortable. I liked the idea, I just didn't like the idea of hopping on a call and you being an absolute weirdo. No offence but you can never be too careful with men on the internet, the icing on the cake is us meeting on an anime forum. If you follow the general rule of thumb on the internet, I'm more likely to be the creepy old man as I'm presenting as a young woman XD
I see, so you don't really know why you feel like that too.
Oh god, thinking that way about it I'm a walking read flag lol It would be really funny if you turned out to be some old sweaty neckbeard xD
Oh and don't worry, I don't feel offended. You have a right to feel uncomfortable and your caution is justified. After all it's true that we don't know each other that well.
In my experience, women really do just be gossiping and talking shit LOL Wouldn't change it for the world.
Nowadays that friend probably flexes with her Tinder matches. They also have the upside of her not actually having to date them. I do think this sleazy air is not really found around women as men are still supposed to pursue as many women as possible while having many relationship results in women being slutshamed.
My old colleague had young kids and she worked full time (with flexible hours) during term time and part time during half-terms or holidays. Would you be surprised if I said she quit due to being overworked...
I'm technically a part-time worker with my 25 hours a week but I'm still a well-established member of the team so I wouldn't say it affects my career. I have the time but no way in hell would I have enough energy for a baby. Maybe it depends on the person. If I have kids, I wouldn't abandon my career but my children would ALWAYS take priority over work. I don't think what I said makes sense, I'm struggling to make a point let alone get it across LOL
Honestly it wouldn't suprise me if your colleague did most of the household chores and took care of the children as well. Working part time does not necessarily be a problem for your career but it depends a bit in the field you're working in. Raising children looks like a full time job on its own and I think at this point you're not living for yourself anymore but devote any time you have to your children. It's like having a pet but with 100 times more responsibilites. I think I do get what you're trying to say.
It sounds fun I should try some VR games too if I get the chance :D
Maybe the UK prices are off the rails for single volumes too. Code Geass and FMAB are probably just old enough to be a bit cheaper. I'd expect that recent anime like Frieren are still very expensive. I think I'll buy it once a sufficient amount of time has passed and there's a full box set with not just the first season.
I wouldn't underestimate DVDs they still look good :o I'll will watch them I just didn't had the time to do so yet. I'm still working myself through the fall season when I'm not getting sidetracked binge watching Chihayafuru xD
There's one downside though when buying english DVDs/Blu-rays. Sure I can watch them for myself but it's difficult to show them to someone else if they're not confident in their english. I'd like to watch FMA with my mom again but it's a bit difficult in english.
Not long until the new Frieren begins! I'm very excited. There are many Frieren figures out there, some are very tempting to buy. Watching FMAB was the best decision I (the wheel) made this year. Actually peak. Speaking of, I got a new Roy Mustang figure. When Imgur decides it wants to work again, I will show you because he's so handsome.
Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun Season 4 got announced for April 26 so that's the one I'm most excited for atm.
I'm actually thinking I spend waaay too much time watching anime this year. I'll definitely dial that down a bit from now own. ^^' I finished the manga reading challenge too but just on lowest difficulty. I was really inefficient about this challenge. I checked my list again and counted roughly how much I read this year and I ended up at ~280 volumes. And yet I still just completed 16 items for the challenge xD
Soo got any Mustang pictures for me or does imgur still not work?
I hope you were able to find something, that PtW list is crazy, I bet your recommendation will end up there too unwatched for years xD
I was able to find recs without much trouble but I was a bit limited on the manga recs because the recipient required the series to be 10 volumes long or shorter. And I've got many longer series on my list.
Do you have special plans for Christmas? I'm planning to rope my family into watching Tokyo Godfathers together. I haven't seen it before but I heared it's a Christmas movie. And I probably have to battle my brother in Mario Kart once he learns that I got a Switch 2 :D And we will visit our grandma over the holidays.
Oh it was mainly out of necessity. I skipped 9th grade so I'd have been behind otherwise. Plus our latin teacher was sick often so we were a bit behind anyway. This was the only subject which required me catching up to since there was some repetition going on in others and if there was something actually new I could catch uo during classes.
Tbh this is an absolute mess and I could be very funny indeed. At least I can't take it seriously based on your describtion.
1. One of my favourite things to do on there was troll. Hard. As you can imagine, most players are chronically online so arguments were always so brain-dead and downright silly. I got into a big argument the night before the ban. I said I didn't know much about history because I don't find it interesting. All hell broke loose. People interpreted it as me saying history wasn't important, etc, etc. and I ended up with about 10 different people flaming me and 1 person defending me. Me being me, I milked it and made them so angry to the point they contacted a literal member of the Animal Jam team to report me LOL I'd be lying if I said I wasn't proud of myself but my record of people angry at me at one time is a whopping 17.
2. Also the night before the ban, a friend and I were trying to bypass the filter and say the wildest things we could. I discovered you could type 'weed brownies' LOLOL. There's a biologist on there called Brady Barr. When I tell you this man was my childhood and is my adulthood crush, I mean it. My friend and I have NOTHING appropriate to say about that fine ass man. With this in mind, you can imagine the nature of our messages. XD
You can be really childish sometimes xD I wonder how so many people get so heated up online over some silly arguments. I had to look up both Animal Jam and Brady Barr, I thought he was some ingame character and didn't expect him to be a real person ^^'
Seems like you have a lot of fun with your friend though, did you got your account back or is the ban permanent?
I mean it's not like working prevents you from making new friends. Speaking of debt, is student debt a thing in the UK as well? I thought it was more prevalent in America. We don't really have that problem here, tuiton fees depend a bit on the university but it doen't cost me much more than 50 bucks a month. Sure for the average student rent and other living expenses come on top and it can be tough for some families to support them depending how well of they are. But it's not like most students graduate with a massive debt or having families putting aside a lot of money from birth.
It does make sense taking this into account but it also creates expectations as it could lead parents into pushing their boys more towards high- and their girls towards low-energy activites thus recreating these gender stereotypes. And you mentioned yourself being an outlier too.
I remember in my very very young years, I had a male friend group who I'd run around with and go crazy but I also had a female friend group who'd like to sit on a bench and sing. I guess I just chose whatever I wanted to do on that day and hung out with the corresponding friend group.
Nowadays, it matters very much to me whether I'm around men or women. I feel quite uncomfortable around men and often struggle to get my voice in. I have absolutely no problem chatting to female strangers though. No idea why.
What kind of masculine behaviours do you find stupid?
Makes sense having two friend groups. They catered to different interests.
I didn't knew you were uncomfortable around men. Do you think it is to a larger extend compared to other women since you probably got teached to be a bit careful around men? and I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable with my suggestion to watch anime together.
I never liked how behaivor among boys tends to escalate whenever no girls are around. They do stupid an risky things and they tend to get overly competitve. And I never liked the idea of being so try hard about women since it feels like some men tie their self worth to the success they have with women. It's just pathetic in my opinion.
Overall it just more chill for me being in a mixed gender rather than an all men group. But there are exceptions of course. And I don't know how a group of just women behaves since I get treated differently for being a man.
In germany parental leave is 14 months and a couple can decide how to divide the months among them. But the usual practise is to do a 2/12 split with mom and dad leaving at the same time taking care of the baby for 2 months and then the dad goes back to work. But to my knowledge they could divide that time evenly
The probelm is children affect the career more than a single year. Even if you give the to a daycare they usually can't keep them from morning to evening so someone would have to leave early and take care of the child. So usually the mother ends up working part time for a few years until she's able to leave the child alone for some time.
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined xD
Jokes aside, it makes sense the photos would be blurry. You mentioned Wendy being a bundle of energy before.
Oh, how is it to play a VR game? I've never played one before.
Personally I'm not really into shooter and prefer RPGs or strategy games. Your friend makes for a strong ally :D
I don't know much about FNAF but recognise some of the pictures. I don't think I can handle horror games, especially not with jump scares. I'd get nightmares xD
I was barely able to stomach Saya no Uta last year ^^'
Speaking of games my ESO guild was finally able to beat a raid on hardmode. We moved to the next one but are currently stuck on the second boss but we're slowly making progress. And this week I got back into Arknights again. I'll get a Switch 2 as a Christmas present although I'll be paying half of it. But I don't think I'll end up playing much my youngest brother is probably the one using it the most.and I'm basically just getting it ahead of time before the new Fire Emblem is releasesd xD
Recently I realised you have so much cheaper prices for anime in the UK. I'm able to order some UK imports via amazon and bought an FMA:B DVD box set for less than 40 bucks (the german version costs ~150 ;_;). The Code Geass Blu-ray looks mighty fine too but buying it would be a bit decadent since I already own a german DVD set xD
Last week I was finally able to finish the AWC. I'll never do a full challenge again xD
Finally I got some time to catch up with seasonals. And I want to rewatch Frieren before the new season starts. Watching FMA made me want to rewatch Brotherhood as well so I still have a lot on my plate for now ^^'
We should be getting our Secret Santa match soon. I hope I'll be able to recommend something fitting :D
Yeah, that does sound more fun than actual classes. I guess learning on your own can be quite boring. When I was 14 I went through a year worth of latin classes on my own during summer holidays and the last few weeks of school before that. Looking back on it I must have been quite motivated, I don't think I'd do this again xD
Ehh, that sounds like a very contrived plot xD Not sure whether I'll regret hearing the answer later but how do you fake date a guy??? It sounds like you're having fun though.
So if she fake dates a guy and then cheats on him with another man is she fake cheating? xD
I see, so as a bisexual man you could see him kissing a guy but he stays obtainable to you theoretically xD
But is he more open-minded than George from Paradise Kiss?
That's a one-way trip to getting fired for sure! But desperate times call for desperate measures... XD
Spending some more time offline is healthy indeed. But which online game did you used to play and how exactly did you get yourself perma banned? I want every dirty little detail :D
If you get in trouble with your boss just say 'Hear me out...' and then proceed to show them the scene in the gym storage room. Now your boss will thank you for awakening a new kink in them, being pinned down by a hot wolf guy xD
Haha, figured this could be a bit intimidating ^^' Just take your time and think about it a bit. It's actually more intimidating for me since I got to talk in english the whole time xD
It's cool you got to hear something nice, but I don't think you're missing out necessarily. You're already working and somewhat independent whereas your friends are stiill hitting the books. I think that's valueable too.
Mhh I don't like the taste of lamb not that much actually. Whenever I eat kebab and are faced with the choice between lamb and chicken I always choose chicken. Glad you had a nice evening :)
I do get your point there, but I don't see how these biological differences require to be considered in one's upbringing. Though I guess they would teach at a young age that women should have their guard up around men they don't know more which is common practise for them.
I really didn't think much about the relationship among women/men. It does make sense, if we were to raise boys and girls the same way, given that's possible, they'd lose this form of identification.
When I was a young boy I preferred playing with boys too, girls where just to different for me. They'd often have different interests. This changed a bit as I grew older especially since I found many attributes or behaivoral patterns which are considered masculine pretty stupid. Nowadays this doesn't really matter much to me whether I'm around men or women.
It's a consequence of power imbalance between men and women. The people calling the shots are usually male and older and therefore more conservative opinions. So even if younger people are aware of this problem it takes time to change the status qou.
Also since women often end up halting their careers for some time in favour of childraising they can't climb the career ladder high enough to be in a position to actually influence something.
Haha, care to share a pic of Wendy in her outfit? I bet it looks very adorable ^-^
Totally fine, but don't start drolling when I tell you about the spicy stuff Tsunagu does to Mari xD
Which games are you playing right now? I'd ask about k dramas too but I really don't know anything about them.
Schools, universities and workplaces are usually just used as a way to gather up more characters and let them meet up and interact in a 'natural way'. They need some sort of superficial reason to be together. And they don't really depict the real thing anyway. Anime with a school setting barely show the biggest part of school - classes (cause boring) and focus on lunch breaks and club activites instead.
School just ends up being background noise. This is also the reason I don't get people advocating for more workplace or university settings since it's usually just a different flavour of background noise.
Using the school setting in Mechanical Mari feels kinda lazy. It was probably chosen to let the protagonist interact with peers who don't treat him differently. You could technically let the anime take place at his mansion but then character interactions would be likely limited to staff members who treat him like their master. But I'm talking out of my ass again since I haven't watched it yet.
his is just an assumption but is this more common in k dramas? I'd expect such a thing at most in a seinen or josei but even there anime tends to idealise romance (not that I mind).
I'm suspecting the actual problem was Reki cheating with a girl instead of a boy. You wanted a yaoi and got betrayed ;_;
If it was a guy you could have at least hoped a bit for an eventual threesome xD
Oh, no that sucks >.<
But it explains why you haven't been online that much. Do you get it back soon?
I guess there's no choice now but to watch Kimikoe fullscreen on your computer at work :D Maybe your colleagues will like it too xD
How on Earth do people get 1000+ days, I haven't even cracked 100 and feel like I've watched a good few. I remember stalking a veteran's list and they logged literal adverts they watched XD
Did you got the pm with the confirmation form? They really must have made some bad experiences in the past and really make sure that no one, regardless how stupid they are, misunderstands them ^^'
Yeah they kinda have everything animated here, even ads. They even have the animated event trailers for Arknights in the database. If Uma Musume as such trailers for their events too you could probably find them here as well.
How some people get to such high numbers is beyond me. Even though I'm watching a lot more due to the challenge than usual, which is starting to become a bit too much for me, it would still take multiple decades for me to reach such a number. And I seriously doubt they can remember a lot about the shows they watched.
I hope you had a nice dinner :) What did you end up choosing?
I heared about similiar things like grown ups being genuine fans of shows like Bluey. I think it does make some sense though, some of these shows aimed at children try to convey virtues like how to become a good person. I think that's pretty universial so there's even something in for adults. And a truly well written show can be enjoyed by any demographic.
It sucks that this Scoot guy trashed the episode you liked so much though. I had a somewhat similiar situation recently when Terror in Resonance got called out for being the worst work by Shinichiro Watanabe (besides Lazarus of course) which happens to be my favourite. Granted I didn't watch that many shows directed by him yet.
(Just in case you didn't knew that's the guy who's responsible for shows like Cowboy Bebop Samurai Champloo or Space Dandy)
It would be just us if you're fine with that. I don't know too many people on MAL who'd come in question anyway and I don't feel like watching something with people both of us don't know at all. But do you happen to have someone in mind?
Hope you have a great day :DD
Thank you <3
Edit: I somehow overlooked this part ^^'
This checks out with you doing martial arts and kicking ass :D
It appears you tried being not too feminine when you were young. It makes sense if you avoided some of that back then if adults gave you the feeling of putting you into a box which you tried to resist.
I'm just a layman but are there significant differences between boys and girls which are not a result of gender stereotypes in the first place? I don't see the point in raising children with gender roles since I consider them purely social constructs. There are however practical issues in trying to raise children gender neutral as their environment which influences them is not limited to their parents and therefore a gender neutral environment is probably not possible. It even begins with whether mom or dad stays home and takes care of children once they're born. Due to the gender-pay-gap it's more likely for the husband to have a bigger income which in turn makes sense for the wife to take a break from work and raises them from a purely economical point of view.
If think it' more important to raise children and teaching them about gender roles, that they exist and how they passively influence all of us so that they are aware of it themself. And we should really stop putting them in gender-coded coloured clothes. That doesn't make any fucking sense xD
By the way Rem is my favourite character 💝❤️
It's not on my list because I dropped it about 9 episodes in XD, I thought about just bulldozing through the last few episodes but couldn't stomach it.
Really? Don't you just love the part I emphasised in bold letters? :D
Though if you start to lean away from high scholl romances you probably won't find much more in anime as these are more or less the only romance stories receiving an adaption nowadays.
Dropping this show was the smarter move xD I finished it but I think I had a lot of time in between episodes.
The one classmate I managed to befriend outside of class was so locked in. We'd usually leave class together, walk to the library, sit next to each other and do our own stuff. On Fridays we had the same schedule so we'd technically spend the whole day together but only have one or two conversations LOL. She was lovely, I haven't spoken to her in a while but I hope she's doing well.
I totally get what you mean about school being too easy. I never revised a day in my life at secondary school and got good grades so when I started college and it was difficult, I had to build all my studying skills from scratch. I don't miss it.
That sounds like a good study pal :D I did something like that too with a university friend when we studied together for oral exams. We met in the morning in the library and stayed the whole day until late afternoon to learn. That reminds me we had an oral exam during covid. We met in my room, installed a webcam on my TV and moved my blackboard (yes I have a blackboard xD) in front of it and we took turns answering the professor's questions on the board.
I think a cheating plotline would be very uncommon for a shoujo nowadays, they usually are wholesome. Then again, this anime isn't what I'd call wholesome either xD
I was sceptical at first when I read this idea first but given it some thought it would make sense since Tsunagu can't help himself when he's around Mari.
I definitely can imagine BL mangaka pulling this stunt. And to be fair that could work out in romance drama about exploring one's sexual orientation paired with social stigmata about homosexual people. But like in KimiKoe this would require establishing the proper conflict first.
I found episode 7 to be an improvement over the last two and I found the catgirl to be really attractive and I really like her style. I'm stilly waiting for more spice; Mari's finally in the beastfolk settlement but so far nothing happened. And Ican't believe there wasn't anything going to happen xD
Honestly don't recall being taught or wanting to be taught how to do my hair. I was more of a roll-around in the mud and go crazy kind of kid so I was never interested in girly hair rubbish. My mum used to do my own hair for me until around my second year of secondary school and after she stopped, that's when the hair-down-epidemic began. I do recall, however, getting ready for PE and struggling to tie my hair up on multiple occasions LOL.
Haha crying over a haircut is such a teenage thing xD
It's funny how you had so much trouble with your hair when it was short. I always had more trouble when my hair was longer since I had to spend time in the morning fixing my bed hair instead of sleeping longer.
I guess you had more of the tomboyish interests then ^^
You're welcome, I hoipe you'll get something good. :3
You will be paired with a person who watched a similiar amount so you won't have trouble running into some veteran with 1000+ days or something like that.
That's nice, I wish you a nice evening then :)
What are you going to eat?
I cant help it xD I wanted to see this cutie again ^.^ (it took over 100 episodes xD)
Back when I was actively collecting cards I really liked the crystal beast cards and I tried to copy this deck from the anime. I think I'll watch the over seasons too once I'm done with this one. I've never watched My Little Pony before but I heared some good things about it too. I think I should give this one a try too.
I just had this idea a few days ago. Are you interested in watching some seasonals together starting with the next season? Each of us would get to pick one or two shows and we would watch them together on one evening per week or something like that.
I hated the ending but I loved it at the same time. It's not good but it's fun.
I think I know that you mean, they decided to use a very cliche and boring otome game for the mc to be reincarnated into which usually makes the possible plot also very cliche. I think they used the reincarnation as a shortcut to get the male audience (it's a seinen) relate to the villainess theme more. The author even decided to make him an otaku and had some very otaku referential humour. In addition they really went out of their way to emphasise the mc's older age which made it in turn less believable for me him being that old. It was like 'LOOK, he's OLD we're DIFFERENT from other shows'.
Another aspect of the usual otome isekai is that it usually takes place in a european unspired fantasy world at a school for nobles (optinal with a basic ass magic system). It uses the most overused settings and mashes them together. Since I'm fan of fantasy I very much despise low-effort copy-paste fantasy worlds.
Btw I noticed it's not on your list yet. So you could increase your number a bit if you ever need to proof yourself to the guy from the camping trip again :D
I can't comment on the attractiveness of the men (I guess I played other VNs) but I looked up some opinions and the happened to be unfavourable about the UI of the VN's they have. Never heared of inbento before though.
Do you enjoy studying and doing university work? I only enjoyed studying for the one subject I liked.
Usually studying is fine while I'm doing it, it's often the motivation to start which I'm lacking a bit. It also doesn't really help that I hardly know anyone there anymore and I'm not the quickest to socialise so I end up working on my own a lot. School didn't help me at it was too easy in the sense that I barely had to study beyond participating in class and was never really faced with challenges.
The episodes have been so repetitive, the only interesting thing that happened this episode was the concept of Mari actually crossing the border and even then: I do not care that much. I love the cat girl and I will be so upset if she is villainised for being close to or possibly having feelings for Tsunagu.
This episode has frustrated me greatly, if the next episode is like this, I'm dropping it.
Oh, I didn't expect you to dislike it that much. so the gist is that it's too trashy while it's not trashy enough for you? :D
I think the authors hands are somewhat tied regarding Yuki as he was initially written as a good guy and Tsunagu's friend so more aggressive advances towards Mari would kinda turn him into an asshole a bit and assassinate his characterisation so far. At this point I think he should have gone for her by episode one. At this point it feels like he's desperately shouting from the port while the Tsunagu Mari ship left set sails ages ago.
If you want it more messy I think it would be good for Ochi to take an interest in Mari too. Since he dosen't like Tsunagu that much in the first place he could pursue Mari without any regard for him.
The catgirl 100% has feelings for him and the episode even ended on a cliffhanger where she threw herself on Tsunagu right before Mari's eyes. So I expect the story to play into the jealousy part a bit. But I'm positive Mari and Tsunagu talking things over quickly. They do have some good communication after all.
Do you want it to be trashy because you don't like the usual shoujo romance that much or do you want it to be more trashy since it's not good at being a shoujo romance in your opinion?
I'll probably stick with it no matter how it develops. If it ends up being bad I can at least meme the shit out of it :D
I entered for both manga and anime, hope I won't have a hard time finding fitting recs.
https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2241493 - this is the link for the anime sign up thread, you'd have to fill out a form which is linked in the first post and copy the text into a post if you decided to enter.
I hope you get better soon :) I saw you updated your manga list more frequently so I fugred you were reading a bit more. It sucks when they move shows into the streaming jail - time to set sails on the Grand Line xD
Meanwhile you got me who wears his hair short just to avoid spending time fixing my after waking up. I even had look up what a dutch braid is xD
MY younger brother (the one with the figures) has very long hair though; and a beard, so people sometimes call him Jesus :D
But did your mom never teach you how to do your hair? I figured moms would teach that - at least that's what I, a very clueless guy, thinks ^^'
There's actually this weird phenomenon going on in my family where some of the first-born child of the cousins of my mom happen to shares their birthday. Including me that's three people so far.
I'm not much of a birthday guy though, I think the last time I had a celebration was when I was 10 years old xD But my mom and I went last weekend to buy new running shoes for me as a birthday gift. My old ones are in pretty bad shape ^^'
Besides that, there didn't happen that much. I just kinda fell into the Yu-Gi-OH! rabbit hole a bit because I'm rewatching one of the seasons right now while having a blast and even rummaged out my old cards and played a bit. One day when my mom came back from work and found me ironing the laundry while watching Yu-Gi-OH! on the TV again she just shaked her head saying something along to 'Not this again' :D This has been somewhat of a bane for her since my time in kindergarten as I started watching it back then for the first time.
Crunchyroll has quite a bit of manga- even some BL! It's not available in the UK yet and I can't access them even with a VPN. A manga subscription service sounds like a good idea, I wonder why there aren't many mainstream ones.
I watch almost everything on my PC, occasionally I watch on my phone too (like in the gym). I guess that makes it easy for me to just pirate something. I've watched From Bureaucrat to Villainess too and hated it. The jokes were unfunny and they always had the same punchline. Did you not like it because it was a seinen and you expected something else from a villainess anime?
I didn't knew Crunchyroll had a manga section. I need a vpn too I guess. I just know that they have some games including visual novels. But I've never tried to play one of them. I don't know whether it interferes with the UI if you play a game through Crunchyroll's game vault.
There are some subscribtion services for manga but it seems like some of them are not available to me as well without vpn.
It's the infamous Rem figure tax :D
My brother has figures of Homura, Tsuna and Natsume with Nyanko-sensei. I think I'll add pictures next time.
Aw I'm sorry to hear the Winter-blues are getting you down. The faster you get back into the swing of things, the easier it will become. It's scary how much a few days off can affect your mental health and make it harder to bounce back! When I lack motivation to do my stretches, I usually just do the ones I like and am good at. I follow the 'something's better than nothing' mindset so, although it means I haven't pushed myself, I've still achieved something small.
Don't worry, I'm not :) It's just that sometimes I don't have much motivation although I know deep down I want to do it and once I'm actually working on a reply I have fun again. I just hope I'll get back into my game soon. It's also not good because I'm neglecting my university work a bit. It will come to bite me later >.<
I think they are still together since in the backflash it was revealed that Tsunagu's mother is the human and he was greeted by a female voice when he got back home. So I'm asuming his mother lives with him within the walls and I'm assuming his father lives there too. Though I'm not entirely sure since Tsunagu uses his mom's family name. This is based on the assumption that Hana and the Beast Man is the prequel to this. The setting is the same and the female lead's name is Hidaka so I think it's safe to say she is Tsunagu's mom - With this I've provided you with a convenient excuse to read an erotic manga about a wolf man eating up an innocent girl :D
To me the prejudice against beastfolk replaces the typical awkward depictions of high school bullying common in shoujo romance. I don't think it's supposed to make the audience uncomfortable. And the prejudice seems to be used as a device to stall Mari's and Tsunagu's relationship since they are in this weird undefined state of having being aware of the feelings towards each other but without actually dating.
I don't think she necessarily has feelings for him. But Yuki is decribed as an attractive, sensitive sporty guy so I guess it's not that uncommon for a girl having her heart skip a beat if a guy like that wraps his arms around her for a bit.
For me both, episode 5 and 6 (which I've watched just now) develop in a direction I don't like that much. On one hand we have Mari and Tsunagu working on their relationship on the other hand it's not official so Yuki continues with his advances which become more and more explicit in episode 6. I get the appeal of having two hotties swooning over the same girl but I think instead of just writing a good story the author seems to cater towards a female fantasy too much. Tbh this development was somewhat obvious if you take her previous works into account.
To be it looks like Yuki is playing a losing game, for every advance he makes towards Mari Tsunagu doubles down in the same episode later on. If they just started dating already they could put Yuki out of his misery and he might be able to pursue someone else.
I'll put stuff regarding episode 6 in a spoiler if you happened to not have watched it when you read this message.
Anyway, are you interested in participating in the Secret Santa event? You'll receive a anime/manga recommendation based on criteria you submitted earlier from a randomly assigned participant. You're asked to give one to another participant in exchange too. Maybe you'll get something you like and make some friends too :D
How's you week going, did anything interesting happen? :o
You mean...someone watched you reading smutty BL webtoons and writing your fic? :D
So you had your phone for a long time? My last one was over 8 old before I finally replaced it about one and a half year ago. Since I don't care too much about them I bought a cheap one.
Do you subconciously limit yourself to shows from Crunchyroll? I'm just subscribed to it and Netflix so if I'm interested in a show not available on them I immediately resort to piracy. Though Crunchyroll alone covers a lot of shows it becomes more difficult when it comes to old ones or even rather unknown seasionals which are just a few years old. And I think I should start looking for a legal way to read a lot of manga online, my library's selection is pretty limited after all.
Are we talking about figures on the same level as the gem in your collection? It could become quite expensive indeed, the Rem tax is pretty high after all. That reminds me, my brother has three figures, I think I could sneak a pic of them later.
That's interesting, I didn't knew it was so popular. I don't think that's the case here in germany.
It's not so much that part I like, I just like the bonds you form on a camping trip. And a gossip session in a tent is top-tier. Have you been camping before and do you like it?
I get the part about forming bonds. I just to have an aversion towards camping because I had a bad experience on my very first camping trip when I was 10 years old. It was for a week, it was muddy and almost rained every day. On the second day my shoes where so dirty and muddy I had to walk in sandals for the rest of the trip. I think for the last three nights or so we slept in a big hall near the camping grounds instead in the tents because we weather got so bad. I remember preferring sleeping in the hall :D
But my attitude changed a bit over the course of the last few years. Nowdays I think combining a camping trip with cycling would be a very cool idea. But I lack some camping gear and it's not that easy to find a cheap tend which is small enough to transport on a bike .
I've yet to have the privilege of watching a show with a friend but I wouldn't drop it even if it was the worst thing I ever watched. But I'd argue that's more courtesy than a rule.
I think some of them limit themself to 'safe' options, and some others really have no life and so much free time they can even finish shows they don't like. I might have something to do with a completionist attitude too. Dropping a bad anime bugs them more than 'waisting time' finishing it.
Watching a bad show with a friend can be very fun, I think ti's similiar to watching reality TV with friends. At least as long as you agree on it being bad.
I'm already struggling right now and it's bad because when I oversleep it kinda kills my motivation for the entire day or at least for the next few hours due to the bad start. And the fact that I don't 'have to' go to university doesn't really help there. >~<
I vaguely remember them. This one I was inside a game being hunted down or something. I think I hid in an attic at one point.
I used to keep a dream journal actually! I would recommend because I remember every dream I wrote down in that period. The only downside to it is you have to start writing as soon as you wake up or else you'll forget. When I wake up, I want to go back to sleep. I did this in pursuit of lucid dreaming but it didn't work, it was cool though.
I'm glad your sleep was fine, I hope it was good for the rest of the week too.
I think a dream diary would be the last thing I want to keep up. Writing something down as soon as one wakes up sounds rough. I'd rather sleep as long as possible but with enough time to prepare in the morning without being late.
I'm sorry for answering this late >.<
I'm in a bit of a slump these days. I tend to lose some of my motivation whenever I'm faced with a minor adversity. I even skipped some lectures and workout the day before yesterday and yesterday as well. Anyway you don't need to worry as I'm trying to fix that :D
That reminds me, I realised recently I've lost about 6kg of my weight over course of the last 6 weeks or so. I hope I can keep i up, my high weight might strain my joints in the long term otherwise.
Genuinely have never heard of those shows but I will blame that on my lack of interest in the genre. Midsomer Murders (Inspector Barnaby) rings a small bell but I know nothing about it.
It took me some time to learn of the power of the internet having everthing available by one klick though legal or illegal means xD
I didn't consider how some of the shows might have official names differing from the german ones. I didn't knew the original name is Midsummer Murders. It makes sense though since kinda every village has 'Midsummer' in the name xD Maybe the other shows I mentioned have different names too.
Regarding Father Brown, the premise of the show was so popular we stole it and made a german version about a bavarian priest running around solving murder cases while being at odds with the police :D
I really don't know why your brother insists on a seperate account. The 30 pounds could be spend on 1-2 figures from Vinted instead XD
I'm just piggybacking on my brother's account ^^'
I always re-watch Junjou Romantica at Christmas time. Why? I do not know. I've done it for years and don't plan to stop, I love that show.
Pantomime for Christmas sounds unusual, do you remember how this became a tradition for you? I have an anime I connect with Christmas too, Angel Beats. I've never rewatched it though. The connection is just there because I remember watching it during Christmas holidays once.
If it ever reaches 100 it will become the One Piece of harem anime lol
I don't really deep it, I watch it for fun not as a personality trait. This guy in particular made me feel competitive. Probably due to the mental and physical exhaustion I was going through when we spoke. Carrying an entire tent and sleeping gear up steep hills for hours does take a toll on one's tolerance. That and I was curious.
Such a camping trip sounds fun :D
A no-drop rule sounds may appear weird to you but if the person abiding that rule is very strict about which show to actually start it's not too much of an issue. They would be unlikely to start 17 seasonals or watching seasonals at all. But yeah, I couldn't stand watching to many shows I dislike either. I can at least get why someone would watch a popular show they dislike. Probably they just want to be part of the discussion or they might watch it with friends.
Oh I've never faced any issues reading manga in school or something like that. But I guess it was seen as some nerdy niche hobby at best and as a breeding ground for pedophilia at worst. And I can't exactly hold it against people coming to the latter conclusion considering some shows.
Yeah I have to be careful, lucky it doesn't snow much where I live if we get any snow at all.
Hayfever really sucks, I understand disliking spring and summer then. I don't have that or the photic sneeze relfex (first time I'm hearing about it) so it's not really an issue for me. I don't mind cold weather but I dislike it being too hot outside. The disadvantage of winter are the short days though. I feel less motivated and it's more difficult to get up early if it's still dark outside. I think I like spring the most since it gives you the feeling of having a better time awaiting you while the days get longer slowly without it being too hot outside. And I enjoy the fall scenery of colourful leaves everywhere.
A few years ago I read online that being too hot while asleep increases the chance of nightmares and ever since then I get nightmares if I dress too heavy for bed. I've been cursed. The cup of tea right before bed probably didn't help though XD
Ohhh nooo I hope you sleep better today >.<
It's bad if you got to go to work tomorrow being so tired.
Speaking of nightmares, do you remember them? Usually I don't. The only thing I remember sometimes is the feeling of falling and then I suddenly wake up
