Can't say Soo-won is the sharpest tool in the shed. He's going to get wrecked by Hak and Yona in the end--I can feel it. |

| There were some escalations in this episode. The 3 being childhood friends, I thought it would be the one where the girl would fall in love with one of the boys and the other boy will be happy to watch them two of them happy but deep down he maybe or may not realize that he harbors feelings for the girl. Suddenly, she was attacked and chased.. Wonder who that shadow guy was.. Not surprised that Soo-Won was the perpetrator, to be honest.. Hmm.. but, shit, Chiwa Saito's voice is out of the world |
| As others here have stated -- The opening is absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed the first episode, I had a feeling Soo-Won was up to something, but didn't expect him to go that far. Especially on the night of Yona's birthday. *Sigh*, poor Yona. I'd also like Yona to mature up a wee bit, it would be attractive as a character development. Hak -- keep doing what you're doing! Solid first episode. |

| Pretty good first episode, damn the twist at the end was very sudden. Didn't expect that at all. Hmm, I don't really like Yona's voice. I think it's to kiddish, would be better if it was a more mature voice imo. Ah well, pretty solid first ep nevertheless |

| Huh. This reminds me of Seirei no Moribito but with lots of comedy and bishounens thrown into the mix. This should be interesting. As expected, the guys are good-looking and the princess is a spoiled brat. Hopefully Yona becomes more self-sufficient as the anime goes on. The comedy was pretty lame, I hope it gets better. This episode wasn't very good until the dark twist towards the end. Those 1000 yard stares though. The OP was mediocre but the ED was actually pretty good. Decent start. I'm curious to see where this goes now that Yona's father was murdered. 7/10 |

| The comedy is terrible but I enjoyed it. The animation is beautiful and I like looking at Yona, she's annoying but apparently she's going to change. It's funny when someone hates a series like this but loves a ridiculous harem Anime series that makes no sense as to why ten to a billion girls in a harem series would drool over a stupid, boring guy with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Also, I like their names. I'm part Korean so it's interesting to watch an Anime that names reminiscent of my culture. |

| I dislike reverse harem almost as much as normal harem, but everybody keeps praising that show so i'll give it a shot. For now, it was pretty decent. The princess is annoying but not overly so, and the events will probably make her change a bit. Let us now observe all the white knights flocking behind their beloved ojou-sama. |
| That was an alright first episode. I probably wouldn't be as interested if it wasn't because of the recommendation someone gave me for this series, because that person said that this is similar to SaiMono, which I happen to love very much. Speaking of which, why does Soo-won look like Ryuuki in terms of style (purple clothing, that hair), though of course Ryuuki is more of a bishounen than Soo-won is XD I just hope Yona would grow up quickly and be less whiny. I think I read this series before lol (but i think i dropped it or I put it on hold?) I remember that it was the cousin who did it Music was kinda interesting, especially the OP, that was unexpected! It builts up the ancient chinese era atmosphere lol. Though some of it felt kind of oddly empty/incomplete (for example the music for the murder scene) Going on to episode 2.. |

| Hmm...seems interesting. Sure not to much happened but from what we could see at the end it will be exciting. Characters are good so far, princess a little bit whiny but okay she's 16 (a pretty hard age for girls^^). It was a little bit unexpected that Su-won would kill the king, sneaky guy. I'm curious how this will go on. I like the music, very chinese style I would say. OP is nice, the ending song is okay. It's funny because atm I'm drinking green tea lol. Definitely something I want to watch more episodes of. So up to episode 2 |

| This episode is a great start.....feels that this anime doesn't want to waste anymore time. Probably one of the best first episode I've ever seen, due to how thought-provoking it was, when I saw it the 1st time. |

| just watched the first episode and i have questions. 1. Does this kind of pacing stay the way the whole series? 2. Also does the comedy stay? I really looked forward to this anime since people told me it was so good. But this first episode was a very big let down tbh :( |

| Damn if the synopsis didn’t talk about that important moment ‘the betrayal’ would have been unexpected... they portray Su-Won as prince charming and his love story(?) with the princes was believable… he was ready to dispose of her, I wonder if he truly had feelings for her…? nonetheless this was a good first episode. |

| This seems exactly like my cup of tea. Il death flag was huge,but I wasn't 100% sure about Soo-won,I suspected him at first,but throw away that possibility after his act and cute scene with Yona. Also couldn't think of what's motivating him,if he wants the crown he could just marry Yona. Anyway,pretty good start and I see lot of potential,story and romancewise,but this seems like another rushed mess of Pierrot so I'm going to pick up the manga too. Also good job Hak. |

| I knew it was a shoujo romance and was wondering why everyone kept recommending it to me (two genres I'm quite picky about). I must say the start of the episode was what I feared it would be but then the last few minutes really had me hooked! I'm rather intrigued now. Interesting. |

| Wow... It was really clear that Soo-won has an evil-side with that face he made during the opening! The OP was good even without any vocals, but I prefer an OP with some vocals at least. The ED was great and the visual quality was goodl. Now it's time to observe how Yona will develop her character and where the plot will go. I'm guessing she will become more independent, braver and well... less Princessly annoying! |

Since then, have watched it once more and read the manga twice. That's because this is my favourite manga of all time and one of my favourite animes. (not 1st place tho as I think the anime is too short for that spot, doesn't cover very much of the plot) I decided to watch just one episode of Akatsuki no Yona a week. After the first episode I just couldn't let myself watch it all at once, and have it become just one of many others. That's how good I found this episode to be. I didn't read the synopsis so I had no idea what Soo-won was gonna do. I also hadn't had many animes watched at that time, so I wasn't very good at predicting action. I had no idea whatsoever what was going to happen, thus I was so surprised. I loved and still do love that episode. Can't really explain how much. Watching it weekly was just a sole proof to me how good that shit was. I'm happy beyond my expressing capabilities that I found this anime. I'm also planning to get a tattoo with Hiryuu Crest soon. ;----) |

| I borrowed the DVD from the library, was gonna watch the dub until I heard Monica Rial's voice UGH I can't stand her voice *switches to sub* I like Christopher Sabat's voice but I don't think he suits Hak. Yona's hair looks more like dark/magenta pink than red ED song chorus sounds kinda like Rain - SID |
