In the middle of episode I was preparing myself to hate on Subaru on few forums. How his character suddenly degreased and how he suddenly does one stupid thing or another for Emilia, without considering her situation at all. Generally I wanted to hate on him for being stupid MC who started doing stupid stuff all just for story purposes so the story can continue with election with Subaru taking part in them as well. Show has to include it's protagonist in the show's main storyline.

Still as much as I wanted to hate on him, when the last scenes appeared it hit me, that even though the second arc was successfully completed, Subaru is far from being mentally stable... quite the opposite in fact. He took part in two arcs, and with his effort those two stories ended up good but at this point he has reached the assumption that if he doesn't do well, the next problem will continue until he saves the day again, and before that happens he will have to die, times and times again.

It seems that the thought of dying drives him insane at this point. AND... IT SHOULD HAVE!!!!! This is the natural reaction, as even though Subaru solved some problems this doesn't mean at all that he is anywhere close to being able to live his life from now on.

We have to remember. Subaru is not a hero, he is a normal guy, thrown into the insane world with his only ability per see being that he resurrects after dying. In the hands of intelligent more emotionally stable MC, this would be an ultimate weapon, for him though it's rather a curse.

I lost my train of thought but what I wanted to say is basically... HELL YEA! The story finally starts the drama that is absolutely necessary in repeat-time-stories, especially with dying being the repeat source. The drama already started in the last arc but I am happy to see that it did not disappear just because the story moved on. This episode Subaru completely forgotten that about 70% of time he spent with Emilia is something she doesn't remember and he snapped. For him who was trying to help her all this time seems quite natural... for Emilia who was simply helped twice it's doesn't seem right at all. The difference in feelings between the ones who remembers and those who not is the best that time-repeat stories has to offer.

In the end though while I understand why Subaru snapped at the end he was kind of unfair. He somewhat arrived at the assumption that if he continues to hang around Emilia and try to help her then he will reach the happy ending with her like a protagonist of LN. He was like...

HEY I COMPLETED TWO QUESTS WITH YOU ALREADY WHY AREN'T YOUR LOVE POINTS FULL YET!...

Treating it like it was some kind of game and Emilia being the heroine destined for him to end up with like it was given. Still everyone can understand how un mature such thinking is and that this isn't the way the world works (sure we will get that ending eventually but not in such pitiful way).

All this ties down to who Subaru was at the start of the story and how he behaved. His situation was always fucked up but he was cheerful about it like it was not a big deal, like everything was going to turn out well, he will get the main heroine and live happy ever after, but nope... .

This situation won't continue at any time soon... next episode I expect Subaru go dark mode, the same way he did when he hid inside the library for the whole time and one of the twins died. There is the hope in the tunnel though in existence of one character, I pretty much expect her to make Subaru get back some mentality and come up with what he should do.

All in all, I have to complain about one thing... why Subaru didn't die at all recently? It's been too long already!
