I feel sorry for China ;.;

It's definitely nice to see Smile getting fired up for his match though. And like usual, the movements was fluid and the camera angles captured the match pretty damn well imo. Really nice to see Dragon compete as well with his moves. Kazama is so dominating. Overall, good built up episode, can't wait to see some of the anticipated matches. Smile is strong as ever too, nice.

China really has changed a lot, seeing him with the other guys was a bit sad.
Katase vs Kaio! Two in both teams are in the championship.
Sanada and Smile's match! It was pretty good but it was one sided.
Sakuma makes a small come back, that hairstyle was a bit surprising.
Peco's resolve and reason for him to continuing playing against Kazama... totally respect him. The hero will go save Smile. The reason why Smile got his nickname was well!
I can't imagine Kazama losing, especially with Peco and his knee injury. But mentally Peco wins by far.
The match is going to be amazing.
Smile's returns never ceases to amaze me! How he is standing really far back and returning the ball like it is nothing.

Amazing! I really didn't expect to see myself liking Peco this much. Dat development! The 'monologue-speech' he gave at the end was beautiful. So he knew that he's the reason Smile hasn't smiled since a long time? That was really emotional how he's ready to give up his knee just to save Smile ;_ ;

I really didn't expect his knee to be busted even before Kazama's match. I was expecting it to bust during or even after but seems it was even more severe than I thought.

Nice seeing Wenge is dealing with his loss well. And seeing Sakuma again (with the hair O_O and an annoying gf(?)) was nice hehe

And really love the OST as usual. Is it just me or one of the tracks is similar to Clannads?

Wow that monologue at the end just gave me chills... Even when your hero falters, it's your job to believe in the hero to the very end no matter what happens, and that's exactly what Smile did. It's amazing to see this sort of development in just a 1-cour and I can safely say this truly is one of the hidden gems of Spring Anime 2014.

This episode was just amazing.
Everyone has changed so much, that character developement.
Smile is still wiping the floor with everyone he plays, but so is Peco.
Wenge accepted his defeat against Peco like a man, astonishing character.
Kazama is looking a bit depressed, not surprised since he will probably have to say goodbye to a big title...
Sanada also accepted his defeat wisely, glad he realized what he was thinking was wrong.
Sakuma's new hairstyle suits him better than a shaved head.
Peco really is the hero, playing with an injured knee due to overtraining.
Obaba loves him alright.

That guy sure has been to a lot of places since his last defeat. XD

I still feel bad for Wenge.. I wish he'd take the spotlight again.

Looks like Peco's popularity is rising. I think Kazama stays on bathroom for long to hear people's opinions on gameplays and adjust himself accordingly.

Smile vs. Sanada was a great game. Liked how Smile tested him out a bit in the first 2 rounds and then went on a winning streak. He sure is heartless sometimes!
Sanda seemingly acknowledged Kazama's superiority and realized why Yurie has fallen for him. Felt a little bad for him there. Good effort though.

Great seeing Sakuma again. He's got that Himekawa hairstyle!
Short but nice conversation with Kazama. Good seeing that they still have a mutual relationship.
Who's that girl with him though? Damn, she sure has a nagging voice. -.-

I see how his answer varies about playing tennis for different people. To Sakuma, it's for himself. To Sanada, it's for the team.
He sure is keeping up good with everyone that way though.

Peco is decides to play through semifinal despite being in bad shape. Liked his confidence and determination to be the hero. Great stuff!
Little Peco and Smile were cute.

Awesome episode. Just wishing Sakura to return. Miss seeing his epic faces in a game.
Now, awaiting on next week's awesomeness. Peco vs. Kazama would surely be an excellent game.

What an ending, next episode is going to be amazing. Also the way the panels curves and moved into the screen as the different animations were transitioning was awesome!

"Peco must win! He must play Smile. Let's go Peco." That is what I want to say, but if Peco loses, then the story may become even better because Smile would then avenge after seeing how hard Peco fought against Kazama. Actually, the story seems like it will be good with either Peco or Kazama's win. I want Peco to win, but I feel that Kazama will win because of Peco's knee. Also, seriously...what a man Peco is, putting his table tennis dream on the line.

Calling it now: history won't repeat itself. Smile will not go easy on Peco and Peco's career may effectively be ended.

Best show of the season, story-wise and even style-wise.

So much change
So much development
So much relatable
So much awesome

History definitely doesn't repeat itself in the end, but it doesn't repeat itself in a good way.

Another great episode. Can see that something will change with Kazama and how he treats his team in the next match and possibly after watching Peco and Smile. Just the possibility of seeing Smile, smiling during his match with Peco gets me all giddy. Sounds like Peco is willing to sacrifice himself to save Smile, I wonder what Smile will do. Probably not accept it outright.

Aww Wenge said that he still needs to teach his buddies how to fly :)

The last part with Peco's speech was just truly touching, made me cry. Peco and Smile's friendship is just that deep, they can understand each other so well but never say anything important to each other. And of course, Smile isn't called Smile because he doesn't smile, but it's because of how much he did when he played Ping Pong. Looking forward to the match, although I'm quite conflicted about Peco continuing and most likely will bust his knee...But he's playing because he's the hero ;_;

Also, Sakuma and Kazama's talk was nice, it seems like Sakuma understands Kazama the most, while the rest of the team doesn't.

Definitely my favorite episode so far. The dialogue between Sakuma and Kazama hit me pretty hard and the way the latter is drawn, crumpled up, hesitantly holding his hands and looking down really emphasizes the fact that he's out of place and boy do I feel sorry for him. And Peco, man, FUCK YEAH PECO. One week's gonna be a long wait.

-I wonder where "soul-searching guy" will end up in the end. He doesn't know what he wants so he travels the globe looking for it...I have a feeling it may be ping pong in the end :D

-Kazama gives a different answer each time because he either doesn't know why he's playing ping pong or is afraid to tell people what his true reasons are. What are his feelings about his father? I hope this gets wrapped up in the next episode.

-Peco is a fabulous character, and his relationship between smile is as well. Man tear worthy moment.

-Anime of the season for sure...especially for such a short story.

Absolutely ground breaking, I seriously don't think I've seen a show this good for a loooooong time. The development is executed so strongly and the writing just hits home and run in every turn. I also liked Peco even more after this episode.

So good, shows like this are the only reason why I still stick to anime.

Yeah, I'm actually starting to drop a lot of animes that I wouldn't have in the past, but they're becoming increasingly derivative and lazy in my eyes but I will always look out for stuff like ping pong in season previews.

Wow, this episode just ninja'd in the feels. I was just enjoying the show as usual, and then as soon as Peco said, "Smile is calling me" *que music*, BAM I got hit with a wave of emotion. And then to seeing Smile smiling? My god, it was a fantastically powerful moment. It's because the build up of Smile and Peco's characters and their friendship has been so artfully subtle; I didn't even know I felt this much for these characters until that moment.
