bounty hunting, guns, great characters
Pretty laid back, lots of fighting. All in all very similar to Bebop.
both have some great gun fights, the dark backgrounds of the main characters
Black Lagoon is just a down to earth copy of the true classic Cowboy Bebop.
Lot's of high energy action. The cast are pirates instead of bounty hunters.
Black Lagoon is similar to Cowboy Bebop in that both series have a crew of characters who go from job to job trying to make ends meet, they both have at least 1 or more characters who come to terms with their past in some way shape or form and they both are full of action packed gun blasting fun that will leave you saying "Wow, how awesome was that!"
A little bit of a warning though, there is ALOT of swearing in Black Lagoon so watch with care. Go ahead and give it a shot.
The similarities between these two anime are not so apparent, however they do share quite a bit in common. Both shows are about a rag tag bunch of pirates (or bounty hunters, same thing, right?) who make their living dong dangerous things. Both shows are episodic in nature, and are very character driven. While not on the same par as Bebop, Black Lagoon is no slouch when it comes to character development, which is a bit of a surprise from a show whose immediate goal is to deliver as much blood, action, and gunplay as possible (which Bebop also has quite a bit of). Revy, BL's resident badass, has her own distinctive charm, much like Spike. While Bebop is easily the better show (well, it's better than most anime, so it's not really fair to compare), Black Lagoon is entertaining in its own right and is worth a look from Bebop fans.
Same gun-toting badassery, same motley-crew antics, same moments of, "holy crap, that's actually well-done characterization."
Stylish and gritty violence. Both share a lot of gunfight.
Similarities are overwhelming. Crude comedy, a bald leader of the group who used to be in the civil service, a hot girl with a bad attitude, a technical genius, and a ship hideaway. Also similar are the violent scenes, and guns, guns, guns.
Both have interesting episodic plots and doing jobs for money with guns and action.
Black Lagoon is a story about a band of modern pirates who do their dirty jobs to survive in a very harsh world. The characters in this series are amazing and just like in Cowboy Bebop, they are rich with both positive and negative traits which make them so alive. The story is also laid out in a similar way: the series is split into short adventures which are gently connected by the main storyline and you find out more about the main characters as you go along.
Its pretty obvious at times that Black Lagoon had gotten some inspiration from Cowboy Bebop, BL even has a similar feel to CB as well.
So if you seen CB or BL and you are looking for more some the same action awesomeness, this series is a great pick. Highly recommended!
Two great show's about freelancer's. The character's are rich and contrast well. And both are filled with great stories and ton's of action. You'll be curious about each event episode by episode while trying to figure out the character's involved over the entire show.
Guns, Bounties, Mercenaries, Hot Chicks, Bad Ass Buff Guys, what else do you look for in shonen Anime?
Amazing, exciting, and gritty anime which focus on a crew composed of 4 people (bounty hunters in CB, modern pirates in BL) and their adventures and jobs at the edge of legality.
The main characters are quite similar: there’s the hot and dangerous beauty (Faye/Revy), the computer genius (Ed/Benny), and the ship’s owner/leader (Jet/Dutch).
Both anime have large amounts of action, badassery, guns, violence, black humour, mafia, plus awesome characters, great animation, and good music.
Also, both anime have an episodic nature: most of the episodes have a different story with several characters joining it, but without forgetting the protagonists' past and troubles.
If you love one, you’ll adore the other.
Same cybern-western atmosphere and action.
Bounty hunter themed with action, comedy, and seriousness.

Both are action-packed mafia-related series with great characters.
If you liked the non-stop action and eccentric/intriguing cast of characters in Baccano! I have a feeling you'd definitely like Black Lagoon. Sure, it doesn't have quite the focused storyline Baccano! had, but it is well worth watching nonetheless.
Say it with me, guys: Lots! Of! Violence!
Besides that, both of these anime have a similar feeling about them. And they both deal with characters who don't exactly have the best of morals...
Bad guys fighting other bad guys... mafia.. xD
High levels of action. Lovable rogues.
Both involve extreme blood and violence.
Both have sadistic characters and mafia.
In both there are non japanese characters.
Mafia, violence, guns, black humor. In both you’ll find great and crazy characters, torture, blood, badass females.
Both are action packed anime, and have great music and animation.
Also, in both anime there is a majority of non-japanese people (the series itself are not set in Japan, after all), and basically no one in these anime can be considered “the good guy”.

Innocent Japanese guy betrayed by superiors and becomes mercenary outlaw. Gun toting asian hottie works with him. Different from Phantom because you get more of the sense the Black Lagoon crew have some moral standards. Still, fun, violent romp through the darkness.
Both are about killers trapped in the middle of a war of interest between criminal organizations. Both have a dark theme, cold hearted, and awesome gunfights.
These series both series have a very dark feeling to them. There is plenty of blood and violence and great action to keep you entertained in both series.
The similarities between these two great series are evident.
Average Japanese guy gets involved with a not exactly legal organization and sees his life changing completely. His initial innocence also fades more and more.
Not to mention that some character are similar: the adult version of Cal is basically a bad copy of Revy, and Mio is absolutely identical to Yukio (in both physical appearance & background/family story).
Both anime are mature, dark, violent, with a rotten and outlaw feeling, and have great animation and music. Add guns, mafia, action, and you'll get some really good entertainment.
very similar with the gangs and gunfighting

Violence, women, violent women, need I say more?
Girls with guns, intense action, and people actually dying when shot. Both main femaile leads are skilled with guns and are very agile.
CANAAN and Black Lagoon have very much the same feel to it.
Both the main characters are bad-ass women with guns with a lot of good action, both series are mainly located in a urban city in China and are well illustrated.
They both have a sense of dark organizations doing things behind the scene, though Black Lagoon has it less and doesn't have any fiction things (like non existing viruses and such)
CANAAN and Black Lagoon are both very awesome series to watch if you like action and gunfights.
they both have cool gun fighting

They seemed somewhat similar to me.
Black Lagoon and Speed Grapher are both similar shows. Both are action packed and suspensefull. Both have blood, gore, violence, death, and sexual things going on(more sexual things in "Speed Grapher") . Both can get really dark, and still punch in a great joke here and there, but not get silly. Both shows have gun fights (more in Black lagoon) that may ask you to suspend your belief a little bit (but this is good from time to time). Both also involve "different" types of fight scenes we are not used to seeing in anime. For example in "Speed Grapher" we get a guy who can make a camera kill people vs. a guy who's skin is like rubber. In "Black Lagoon" we get a speed boat vs. a helicopter!! Both shows seem "realistic" and put Hollywood to shame. As Revy from " Black Lagoon" says "Don't be stupid, this is way more entertaining than Hollywood's ever gonna be." or as Ginza from "Speed Grapher" says "Don't make me self defense you too!"
Both animes made me feel that I was watching a mature anime for adults (violence, death, mafia, drugs, sex, etc.)

Both series are set in an almost identical place, with a city overrun by a variety of criminal organizations who struggle for the control of it. However, the path taken by each series is different. Gungrave starts off by exploring the past of the character Brandon Heat and later on his ressurection and revenge against the syndicate known as Millenion while Black Lagoon develops around a small group, consisting of Revy, Rock, Dutch and Benny, with the name of Lagoon Company and how they carry their jobs given by other major syndicates. Despite this both involve guns, fights, characters that will surely get 'stuck' in your head and a reason for you to see Black Lagoon in case you liked Gungrave.
Black Lagoon has many excellent gun fights that rival and in some cases surpass those of GunGrave. Both have a great story surrounding the darker aspects of society.
Like Gungrave, Black Lagoon (And "Second Barrage") both focus on a criminal organisation.
Both animes have a dark and adult tone with a lot of violence and killings. Speaking of violence, both shows have gun-based fights with a couple of exceptions.
Also, both shows have characters with depth and a lot of emphasize is put on character relations.
The only big difference between Black Lagoon and Gungrave is that Gungrave, halfway through the show, uses supernatural elements while Black Lagoon stays realistic.
So if you enjoyed Gungrave, but not just because of the supernatural creatures and weapons, you might enjoy Black Lagoon as well.

Girl with guns, similar charismatic personalities, intense action, journey all across the world
Both anime got girls that can handle guns wisely...
Intensive gun-fights, shitty business, confusion. There is much more in common between Black Lagoon and El Cazarod de la Bruja than you can see at first sight! Both anime are much more enjoyable than you may think, especially if you don't like this particular genre. But don't turn your back! Some (already banal) themes are proposed in them. These include friednship, overcoming hardships. There are also similarities between the main characters - Rock (Black Lagoon) and Elis (El Cazador de la Bruja), but these are the similarities between the circumstances they are in that tie them together. Both Rock and Elis find their companions during experiencing hardships and in time when they most need help. After that they both enter a world they don't even expect to find.

Girls with guns and lots of action!
It has the whole mercinary thing as well with a new guy that they pick up... its pretty much black lagoon with mechs
Both have a badass female protagonist who uses 2 guns at once and who has a large tattoo on her arm, and a rather normal Japanese guy who gets involved with her crew.
Both action-packed anime, even though Black Lagoon doesn’t have neither mecha and ecchi, and is obviously way better than Burst Angel.

Both have main chars who use guns and are in a group doing certain tasks for money. And need money really bad and are usually broke.
if u want an intense action and epic anime. then black lagoon and black cat are similar and i highly reccomended black cat. its great! indeed
ACTION ACTION ACTION ACTTIOOOOOONN!!!! both of these are jampacked with enough action to leave you wanting more and more and more.....very addicting. gantz is a little on the ecchi side though
The world we live in is a crazy one, indeed. But what happens if you step outside of that crazy world, what is waiting on the other side? Whether it is gunfire for fun, or an insane battle to save the human race of alien invasion, it is up to you. No matter you're choice, you will not be disappointed.
As Black Lagoon is filled with criminals spending their time fighting each other or stealing someone's money or even life, GANTZ is also full of dynamic battles with aliens for staying alive.

Gritty feel with backroom politicking and conspiracy. Strong female lead with a mysterious past and mad skills. Both groups of characters also have a techie character(s), a strongman, someone who is relatively new and inexperienced in their new profession, and side characters to provide the occasional comedic crack. Also explores many questions involving a perceived loss of humanity and psychological well-being, in one falling to savagery and "base" behaviors and the other to in a sea of cybernetic technologies.
In fact, the main difference is which side of the law the characters work on and the cyberpunk vs renegade theme.

Judging from the one episode of Coyote Ragtime Show that I've seen so far and the two seasons of Black Lagoon, I get the feeling that they're similar. Bounty hunters, killer lolis dressed in gothic lolita, violence, etc. It's just that Coyote Ragtime Show is set further into the future, I guess.
Guns, Gangster, Mafia and a massiveload of Action.
They have different plot, but both of them are action-packed and somehow doesn't follow a specific storyline. If you have liked Black Lagoon then you should also try Devil May Cry(vice versa), because both of them offers intense action!
Well they both have a lot of action scenes , they both have similar main characters (who are extremely badass) and there awesome nuff said go watch'em
Both have femlae chars with 2 guns going around shooting things. And male char whos basicly useless.
Super cute assassin ass kickers who like to dress in hotpants and tanktops. Revy is a little more darker and mysterious than Madlax (quiet and sophisacted). But overall they both have to fight against mobsters and gangesters in order to reach their goal.
Madlax started off as a Mercenary for hire type of anime but then strayed off course for obvious reasons, but Black Lagoon is a "Mercenary for Hire" anime all they way through.
Not very similar in era, but Black Lagoon is very similar in style to Cowboy Bebop. One parallel one could make is that both Champloo and Lagoon deal with pirates. But do take my word for it, you'll definately enjoy Black Lagoon.

I would recommend Black Lagoon the 1st and 2nd season as a similar anime to Michiko to Hatchin. Both seem to happen in some spanish territory. We can see lots of action, guns, mafia, pursuits. Michiko is quite similar to Revy. Both main characters are strong, independent women with a unique personality and complex past.
I would say Black Lagoon TV series are the best equivalent to Michiko to Harchin.

Great battles in the ocean ;D

Both "Black Lagoon" and "Kite Liberator" are action packed, gun shooting, violent animes!! They both are dark, gritty, mature, and sexual (Kite Liberator is more sexual). They both also have amazing "fight" scenes. They both are set up like a "hollywood" action movie, but doing a much better job! Sure there's some serious leaps of faith needed (esecially in Kite Liberator), but hey, these series are all about the fun! Sure Kite Liberator is a mix-mach of genres (done for the fun/satire), sure some of the fight scenes in Black Lagoon are a little impossible(well in Kite Liberator too), but these series are just what they are, nothing more. Gritty action, very dark, amazing gun fights, and epic fun! Not deep, not going to inspire you, but both are great animes, that are a lot a like.

Tons of bullets, mobsters, assassins, and general mayhem.
It has the feel of Yu Yu Hakusho in regards to it witty humor, fun characters, and jaw dropping action. Not to mention a very well written and casted english dub. Be warned, this is a very graphic anime.

The whole time I watched Black Lagoon, it reminded me of Hellsing.
Quite similar art in both anime titles, as well as characters.
Hellsing is overall more supernatural than Black Lagoon, and a bit more serious and Black Lagoon a little more easy going, but I would would say that if you liked one of them, you'll like the other one.

Black Lagoon and Strike Witches both are about a rookie who has just joined a group of elite.
Both series involve people who live in the underground world. They are filled with characters who are professionals that have great gun skills. Xiang Ying and Revy come from difficult pasts which make them in to the present day them. Both series are filled with action, killings, and excitement. If you like one... you will sure to like the other.
Both feature female protaganists in a mature and violent anime. Both also have realistic combat, at least more realistic than shonen anime.
If you happen to love girls with guns, then this is the ticket!
They both have The Mafia part in the story, the plot and charcter personalitys are really different though.
Another firearms-based animes, only little girls this time.
I should be clear that not much can hold a flame to the action in Black Lagoon, and i would have to say that Heat Guy is no exception. But heat guy is fun to watch if you enjoyed the gun play and action in Black Lagoon. Enjoy.
Although without cool mechanical limbs and in an entirely different environment, Black Lagoon also features a lot of mafia, scheming and/or plotting, wars for controll and a lot of action.
I haven’t watched the entire series. But it got the same pirate theme as One Piece. A bit more serious, tho. So, due the rarity of pirate-themed anime, I would like to recommend this anime.

Non-stop female gun-fighting action!!!

Black Lagoon is similar to FMP with the whole Mercenary thing, but Black Lagoon is a lot more vulgar than FMP. Both great series.
They both have a serious girl as the main fighting characters, a weak main guy character. But The setting is completely different as WD is in a fantasy world very peaceful, while Blaack Lagoon is in a modern type of world with gangs and the show is more serious.
Character development through the episodes, splash of comedy and dark themes that vary based on the episodes. Black Lagoon is a bit more focused on realism, with a cowboy bebop episode gallery that adds a lot of variety.
Gun fights and women that kicks ass. But not as funny and the character development is less interesting. The action is just as good.
Both are bad-ass anime with seemingly incompetent main characters that team up with a strong fighter. If you like intense fights and some minor romance you'll definitely like this
