Himote House: Dai Panic! Minna de Gokiburi Taiji [Watch date: 2/1/2024; rating: 6]
　Mini Review: Still as ridiculous as the main series. I'm not sure it needed more, nor who crowdfunded it, but well, here we are. It was kinda funny, I guess. In a ridiculous way probably. The cockroach was the funniest part. The epilogue was just... well... yeah. I don't remember anything from the series but I guess the special was cohesive with it, in feeling if not story and craziness.
Isekai Quartet Movie: Another World [Watch date: 7/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: The synergy between the characters is still as charismatic as the previous two seasons. Even with the addition of these new characters; Pantagruel, Alec and Vera, they still work nicely together. Still absolutely crazy but in a good way. I really liked the ending in that it creates both a good ending for the characters staying in the world the OG characters were transported to, but also for the characters going back to their homeworld, with the addition that the strife between the characters in the new world is resolved.
Kakushigoto Movie [Watch date: 9/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: I rather liked the extra scenes and perspectives not shown in the TV anime, it really helped to understand what happened to Kakushi after his "downfall". The cast is a strong one still even without all of the story that is in the TV series. In just over an hour, you can get a good gist of what happens in the TV series, so it suits those who haven't seen it or want more of it, like me.
Ookami to Koushinryou II: Ookami to Kohakuiro no Yuuutsu [Watch date: 9/1/2024; rating: 8]
　Mini Review: Short and sweet, and it builds a camaraderie between Norah and Holo. The inside joke between them, while Lawrence looks dumbfounded, was the ultimate fun. I like that it just builds upon the first season and that you can go on to season 2 after. It wasn't much but a brief interlude, but it was rather fun regardless. Holo's jealousy of Norah adds character to her.

Koukyuu no Karasu [Watch dates: 2/1/2024 - 7/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: It wasn't quite what I expected but I loved it. I really want to see more and I think it needs a sequel if not a second season. Everything could be tied up nicely and we need some explanations as to why the previous dynasty was overthrown. Jusetsu herself is such an interesting character and I'd like more backstory to the current emperor as well, and why he cares so much about her. I also want more Jusetsu x Kajou interactions, and see it develop into a true sister bond. My favourite supporting character was Kei, he's so nice to see on screen. I loved the ED so much that I even looked the full version up.
Redline [Watch date: 10/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this spectacle of a movie. It was never boring even when the characters weren't racing, and the second race was even better than the first. It really is iconic for something that isn't even that old. I honestly think more people should watch it. The movie flies off the screen with all the detonating things, fire, bioweapons, and especially the saturated colours. More minor characters all add something that just fits and makes sense against the two main characters. I thought JP would have been more like Kamina from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but he's a little more toned down and down to earth, which is something that I immensely liked.
Sakasama no Patema [Watch date: 24/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: I loved how both worlds are made to come together even though they're strictly separated. Both characters are a bridge to the other's worlds. The story comes together quite nicely at the end. I loved that the antagonist gets no more screen time after he flies off into the sky, no doubt to keep it PG. Porta was my favourite character because he's somewhat of a comedic relief in the dire circumstances the MCs are in.
Violet Evergarden: Recollections [Watch date: 25/1/2024; rating: 10]
　Mini Review: Even though I've seen the TV series, this recap still hits me hard emotionally. I just can't help but cry every time. I really love the character growth Violet goes through. She matures and constantly learns more about the world and herself, going so far as to say that she's almost a completely different person at the end than where she started.

Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai: Next Sky [Watch date: 7/1/2024; rating: 8]
　Mini Review: I thought we would be seeing Ayumu's exchange school trip to London but we ended up with her coming back to Japan and bringing along Isla, who would be staying for two weeks. They go around Tokyo sightseeing, having a little concert and such before Isla is to return. The new song they performed was a nice little dubstep song. I wouldn't say I liked it as much as the songs from the previous 2 seasons but it wasn't bad. I did like that Isla resolved to be a school idol even without the approval of her school. I liked the minor character of Penelope as well.
Piano no Mori [Watch date: 26/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: Ending just after the first competition, the story explores the people we meet and what kind of effect they can have on us. Even after watching the more recent TV series, the movie still holds up to standard. I do recommend you watch the TV series if you have not already if you liked the movie. One thing that bothered me and took me out of the story was that Shuuhei's mother calls him Shuuhei-san, which is incredibly strange to me. Unless it was explored further in the series, it remains unexplained here.
Pui Pui Molcar: Driving School [Watch date: 26/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: As cute as the first season. Even though this is a kids' show, I really was enjoying myself, excited to see the molcars succeed in their re-education classes. My favourite episode was 11 because I know what it's like to be scared to go on the road as a driver. I understand the anxieties of going out there, worried I'm holding others up. Really uplifting to see the other molcars coming to cheer on the one with driver's anxiety, and then finally seeing him gather up the courage to go out there.
Wan Sheng Jie 4 [Watch date: 26/1/2024; rating: 9]
　Mini Review: Still as crazy but also as adorable as the previous seasons. The interplay between the characters is still fun and not at all boring even though they don't really change. However, this is an episodic comedy show so I'm also not looking for character growth, so for me this is great. In the end, I love how it always ends up going well for the characters. The opening is still a bop too.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch Recaps [Watch date: 9/1/2024; rating: 7]
　Mini Review: These recaps didn't add anything new to the original series, but I guess they're a good refresher for people who watched S1 a while ago and needed a bit of reminding of what happened in season 1, to watch season 2. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend watching them unless you just complete franchises. It also sadly removes a bit of the tension seen in the full series due to it being cut to just the main plot points.
Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch Special Edition - Black Rebellion [Watch date: 27/1/2024; rating: 8]
　Mini Review: Nothing much to say here. It is the same as the TV series, just shortened to a movie-type length. My favourite character was C.C. even though we don't get to see all that much of her in the first season. After her, it is Cornelia. Her dynamic with Lelouch is pretty good. Lelouch himself isn't the typical protagonist, but that is what I like about the series. He goes to get his revenge/overthrowing of the Britannian Empire, just to find out who killed his mother as well as free Japan (Area 11) after he found some piece here.
Spy x Family Part 2 [Watch dates: 27/1/2024 - 31/1/2024; rating: 8]
　Mini Review: Continuation of Spy x Family, this season is pretty good. Building more upon the existing relationships as well as forming new ones, exposes more of what each character really feels about the other and their dynamics. Yor and Loid get closer, even with Fiona being introduced. I appreciate Loid's steadfastness in not changing his mind about switching wives; sure, Eden would be suspicious of it but I think he genuinely appreciates what Yor brings to the family. Bond is also a cute and wise dog. Even when he gets jealous, he apologises quickly. I liked the dynamic between Anya and Becky outside of school too. Finally, Loid gets introduced to Desmond, setting it up great for a second season.
Obey Me! [Watch date: 31/1/2024; rating: 7]
　Mini Review: Pretty good for what it is, short and sweet. The dynamics between the brothers are really nice. Each character portrays his token sin so their characters make sense, and it doesn't feel out of the blue even though the watcher may not have played the source game. I rather liked the ending too.

　Mini Review: Kind of dumb but kind of cute. Since this is just a YouTube project, there isn't much budget, so the guys don't move as much as they need to to really sell this, and so the ASMR aspect doesn't really work, but there's still something nice about it. Just a short episode to make you feel better after a hard day. 3/10
Henkei Sakuhin Dai 1-ban
　Mini Review: Finally watched the circle cult anime... I turned off the lights n stared at this in the dark at full screen for the full experience. I feel like I saw visions in the circle. Visions of an ancient wheel, a donut, a Christmas cake, bugs, people, shredded paper, garbage bags... Maybe I was hungry. It also felt like it was a representation of the cycle of life of the Earth. Made me really sleepy, but I could appreciate it at least a little. 2/10
Henkei Sakuhin Dai 2-ban
　Mini Review: I did not enjoy this one at all. Unlike the first one, I could not get into a trance state with this one - the audio was too chaotic and there was too much flashing. I also did not understand the visuals at all, looked like some rocks for 23 minutes. It was only near the end that I realized I think this short represented a rainstorm with lightning and thunder, but by that point I was annoyed with it. 1/10
Henkei Sakuhin Dai 5-ban: Rembrandt no Shudai ni yoru Henkei Kaitai to Saikousei
　Mini Review: Despite this one having the least abstract visuals, its message was the least decipherable to me. Going off the music alone, I guess it was some kind of divine experience from the POV of the painter. I felt like I needed more backstory on these paintings and Rembrandt to understand it. It was also way too long... 2/10

P.S. I'm so sorry Gwath that I didn't watch much "real" anime from your list... There were lots of nice options but I got trapped in the circle cult.

　Mini Review: I thought there would be roaches in this based on the cover, and there was not! For 2002 the CG was fine but damn that video was crusty as heck, made it hard to tell what was happening. It was an over-the-top space horror that's funny to laugh at. I did enjoy the twist ending, though. 3/10
Gosenzo-sama Banbanzai!
　Mini Review: I knew nothing about this going in and was delightfully surprised by the theatrical stage presentation of this OVA series. The wacky plot to go with it was also very fun. Somehow despite each episode basically taking place in one place, it managed to escalate the plot every episode, culminating in the 5th one. I didn't really like the 6th one much, since it was kind of a downer epilogue, but overall I enjoyed this a lot. The art hurt my head a lot cuz I thought it was by the Akira author - it really looked like a mix between the Akira style and the more kiddy style from him in other things like Peter Pan - but it was not. This was probably the best thing I watched for the entire challenge, so thanks for giving me a chance to check it out! 7/10
Yofukashi no Uta
　Mini Review: I had really wanted to like this because it looked really good and of course the great OP/ED/insert songs, and it was not bad, but for me I wanted more of an ongoing plot. It was a bit too slice of life/iyashikei for my taste, the type of show that starts strong but they will never progress the plot much until it's time to wrap it up, but I could understand other people enjoying it. It wasn't even that there was too much romance drama, which I'm not too fond of either, there was just... not much. I guess I wanted more drama overall, and instead this kid was sneaking out every night with no consequences. 5/10
Ryo
　Mini Review: I love historical things but Japanese history somehow always ends up rattling my brain a bit. This was a nice look into some of the life of Sakamoto Ryoma, but if felt too brief and with a lot of liberties taken to really get a good picture of him and the other historical figures. It did look pretty good though, which I think was the most important factor for this short since it was a training project. 5/10

Be-Boy Kidnapp'n Idol
　Mini Review: Despite the super sketchy name of this, it was nice that it was actually more focused on the relationship between the two friends. The kidnapper was a weirdo and I was very worried by him, but was just a weird little alien man in the end, so it had a pretty light tone in spite of it all, making it very cute and strengthening the bond between the boys! I support them. Of course I also loved how similar this was to Cipher, being from the same year and full of 80s/90s fashion and style, as well as in the art and music department. This having a full OST with songs with lyrics was real nice, I love very musical anime. 6/10
Yuukoku no Moriarty OVA
　Mini Review: I was watching this anyways so I watched the OVA :) I wish I had watched these during season 2, as they are set mid-way through it even if they came out after - it would have made more sense in the continuity. They felt like they fit right in with the usual episodes from the series, but I did like how the second episode was silly and more comedic. I love the historical setting in this series, and even the OVA is done very nicely. 6/10
Seitokaichou ni Chuukoku
　Mini Review: I picked this one to watch since it had the comedy tag but it really wasn't much of a comedy, much more of a drama, but maybe the comedy tag is because of how much I laughed at this while watching it. It was just so absurd!!! The VAs were also very recognizable to me, which was distracting and also just made the whole thing feel even sillier. I had lots of fun watching this. 5/10
Hitorijime My Hero
　Mini Review: Somehow I thought this would be something else, I think I confused it with a different BL my friend told me about once. This was a pretty soft BL with the most questionable thing being that one of the relationships was between a student and teacher. I prefer less mundane and more wacky settings, so I didn't end up really caring about this one much. It was cute, but not much else to it. 5/10

P.S. Thank you killy for blessing me with so many BL options. Good luck on what seems to be your quest to watch them all!

Ame wo Tsugeru Hyouryuu Danchi
　Mini Review: I learned of this just a few weeks before so I was really glad I got to watch it! I love survival settings and the premise of this reminded me a lot of the Drifting Classroom or Sonny Boy. It was really long though and things started getting kind of weird when they got to explaining the whole reason they started drifting in the first place. The buildings having children ghosts as souls and the whole building basically being about heaven for buildings was strange but also strangely sentimental. It was very pretty too of course given the studio. 6/10
Mameneko
　Mini Review: This was really cute. It really felt based on the author's own experiences - the characters all felt very real, and it felt like a real living situation with all these pets and the 3 generations of a family all living together. The two cats and the dog's interactions were the best - the cats were just so cat-like yet innocent, while the dog believing he was also a cat because he was raised by cats was just so real. This was nice for a short little series. 5/10
Nasu: Suitcase no Wataridori
　Mini Review: Hadn't heard of this before! I had to watch the first one as well since it's blasphemous to just watch a sequel, but this is the one for the challenge since it's the one you saw last year :) Pepe had less of a stick up his butt in this movie, which I am glad for since he was a bit angry for a protagonist in the first one. I liked the culture clash between the Spanish bikers and Japan here, it made for a lot of fun scenarios, like the kid cheering Pepe on, and the Japanese coach lady they had in this one, setting up an illegal romance with Pepe. It was a nice movie but I feel like I don't know enough about bike racing to really appreciate it. 5/10
Ai no Utagoe wo Kikasete
　Mini Review: Another movie I had only found out about a few weeks before! Like Drifting Home, it felt a bit long and drawn out, but I think in this case it was because it did exactly what you would imagine they would do with this movie's premise. There were no big surprises and it really felt like just going through the motions of having to go save Shion after her existence is exposed early and she gets decommissioned, so the whole middle part of this movie felt like a low point that had to be gotten through to get to the ending. Still, it was fun, and it did surprise me with the reveal that Shion having been looking for Satomi for so long, being that same AI. Shion was basically a Disney princess which was fun, with how oblivious she was, and it was nice how she brought all these friendships (back) together. I also really liked the art here, very nice and that modern Shinkai-like quality.

🎿 Feedback about the event? Had quite a fun time with this, though I think I do prefer getting more "catered" suggestions than just picking from a list. I checked out some anime and resumed some I paused which weren't anywhere close on my priority list. (Not that I actively use mal's priority list...) Some were great, some were not, and a lot of them were just fine. Thanks for hosting this and making it happen despite all the awful stuff that's going on in the world atm.

　Mini Review: You could really tell this was an OVA of a long manga, I had no idea what was happening... Way to many things happened in the span of one day, it was one thing after the other. It was fun tho to tell people what was happening in the show ;)
Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2nd Season
　Mini Review: This season was even better than the first, I hadn't wanted to watch it since I was reading the manga but holly cow the anime moves a lot faster than the manga does. In one of the episodes they kept saying plebeian but they were not saying it the way I think it should be pronounced and it kept throwing me off ;P All in all I was really hopping someone would have the next season since this one was so good.
Kobayashi ga Kawai sugite Tsurai!!
　Mini Review: I've read the manga and still I was terribly confused, it started at such a random scene, after a bit I finally figured out were we were in the story but I would have loved if it stated at the beginning. Totally unexpected, episode 2 was amazing XD it was really rando and I loved it!

　Mini Review: This really reminded me of My First Girlfriend is a Gal, but more fun XD It was way too pervy and the scene on the doorknob was too crazy. I wouldn't watch it again but it was entertaining.
Hajime no Ippo: Boxer no Kobushi
　Mini Review: It was nice seeing Takamura's back story. The dynamic between him and the coach is nice, and I found it pretty surprising how easily he actually dedicated himself to training, I really thought he would have gotten annoyed by it pretty fast since he wasn't aloud to fight. I got so into it that I totally forgot the Ippo is the main character of the main show lol.
Hajimete no Gal: Hajimete no Bunkasai
　Mini Review: I definitely liked this one better than the main story. It was a lot less creepo, Its probably cuz his friends didn't have abig roll in the story :P It still really creeps me out that one of the girls are voiced by the same person that voiced Conan Edogawa...

Mignon
　Mini Review: Half the time I was pretty confused but it was cute and I still really liked it. After just having watched Hyperventilation, comparatively the erotic scenes in Mignon were really amazing. I hope they make more, I would like to see more of them since they had an interesting dynamic.
Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu
　Mini Review: I was really excited for this season because I love when O.P. characters go to school...but it was a bit disappointing, the school aspect of it doesn't really truly exist. This season was weirdly more yet less sex related...and it was just kinda weird. The show flows well that it is constantly interesting but there wasn't actually anything that happened in this season...
Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko: Everything Flows
　Mini Review: It gave me all the feels, made me cry and smile. It was very sweet, and Daru was the cutest cat. Its one of those anime that gives you a wistful feeling for a good long wile after you're done watching it.

　Mini Review: Its definitely not a show that needs to be taken seriously in any way whatsoever. I really enjoy how he obliviously seduces all these women and I really don't know why the other two are so interested in his love life... I don't think I would watch more if it had a season 2 but it wants bad.
Seitokaichou ni Chuuk
　Mini Review:I read the manga of this anime and it seems to be following it pretty well if not a bit fast. I cant with the switch between, I don't know why people like you to wow I like you so much XD The first episode was pretty boring but episode 2 wasn't bad.
Semantic Error
　Mini Review: I've watched the drama of Semantic Error and I'm not sure where this would take place...I'm thinking after the drama? This was pretty cute but not nearly long enough so there wasn't really anything that even happened. I hop they make a real anime of this later, especially with this art style that was really soft.

🎿 Feedback about the event? I LOVED it. The only thing that was difficult was not being able to watch anything from the Xmas Party until after completing the Workshop and then not being able to watch anything in the After Party until after completing the Xmas Party. I think it would be nice to watch anything in the list at any point. I had to switch out some of the series I chose for the Xmas Party and After Party sections due to running low on time to turn in. I loved having such a large variety to choose from though!! There was quite a bit of anime I have had on my list for YEARS that this event pushed me to watch. I also came across some gems that I likely never would have watched if it wasn't for this event, so THANK YOU for putting it together!! I am already looking forward to 2024's event. =D

Really enjoyed the freedom of choice in what we could pick to watch compared with previous years, though I think there might have been a little too much freedom since I got a bit stuck with choice paralysis over a 1400+ options list. It might be more interesting to set at least some light constraints on what to watch, even if they're as simple as what items are used in the Open House challenges.

🎿 Feedback about the event? Was quite funny, used this chance to finish some of my old on-hold stuff too. Personally I'd make the rules a bit stricter, it seems like user experience varied a lot depending on what stuff they chose for the event. Like, conquered difficulty doesn't really feel like its anything demanding. The requirement about only ONE show having 11 eps and more (out of 16 for conquered difficulty) is pretty much meaningless when you can just pick OVAs/Movies for other 15.
