Hmm, interesting we got to see more of Sakuta and Shouko screen time together after their meeting in the rain.

Kinda interesting to learn more about Shouko including how her name associates with Sakuta's past. Oh and can't forget about Rio or Mai either. Sakuta is in a relationship with Mai now but she seems a little busy. However, I think they can make their relationship work especially with their chemistry. Glad to see they're focusing more on Rio too in the show.

I'm so impressed and happy with how they're handling this arc despite only dedicating two episodes to it.

Not only does it show that Sakuta & Mai's relationship is constantly developing and progressing ( This episode displays that despite their constant flirty banter, they have their moments of genuine love & appreciation for each other ) but it also brings in an interesting conflict that kinda breaks the formula that has been established up until now.

I think with this arc Kamoshida really shows that even outside of the scope of what Sakuta can influence he is able to write excellent side characters that feel real with their own personal issues and Futaba - Kunimi's problem hits close to home for many. I also love that the director keeps the various foreshadowing that the book tend to have about later arcs such as Shoko & Kaede. Overall it's just such a joy to see all these characters which were mostly separated until now slowly form bonds on their own.

This new ending is so great. As Futaba slowly looses her labcoat and with that her stoic personality based on the realm of realism she walks towards Sakuta AND Kunimi. The two people who are the dearest to her in the world. It's just so feels good aaah!

So Double Futaba and a new girls who is a bit of a mystery.
From what i can tell the Futaba clone seems to do what Futaba really wants to do while the other is just her modest self.
Still the pictures towards the end seem to suggest something else my guess is that she is craving for some attention.

Completely agree. The pacing of this show is one of its biggest strengths. Nothing feels rushed or unnecessarily drawn out.

LOVED Sakuta's reaction with the pillow after Mai's night visit. It's little details like that (Sakuta's sprinting after he had just won the basketball guy fight was another) that make me so invested in these characters.

I AM a little sketched out that Sakuta doesn't seem to bat at eyelash at the fact that Shoko's parents (if they even exist) let her visit a random older boy's apt. every day... Some suspension of disbelief required there.

Great episode again.

Interesting that Shouko is similar to the Shouko that Sakuta knows but isn't exactly the same person. Not to mention that the Shouko here seems to be younger.

The opening sequence with Kaede was so adorable. <3
Don't worry Kaede, I'm all for that forbidden love. XD

Damn, Futaba looks great in a ponytail and without her glasses. I approve. xD
Koga looked great in the Yukata as well so points for that too. :3

I thought this was gonna be Shouko's arc from the past episode but I guess it's Futaba's arc? Essentially it's a story of doppelgangers? Futaba certainly had an interesting theory on it and I'm quite surprised how quickly Sakuta picked up on what she was saying. The guy actually might know a thing or two about science.

Loved the scene with Mai and Sakuta at night, that was so cute. Love it, their banter is always amusing. Especially the final one when Mai answered the phone and Sakuta kept going say it again was so glorious.

Interesting revelation at the end, indeed what are you doing Futaba? I wonder if that's what's behind the sudden body doubling we're seeing.
Looking forward to next week.

@Tan_H These questions gets asked quite so often. Most people who reply to the thread before the official simulcast time either streamed the show directly from Japanese TV or watched the raws.

Even more appealing episode than I thought it would be. I praise the director of this anime . Perfect balance of everything till now. Starting some good romance between Sakuta and Mai . The intro if shouko and the pets. Kaede's caring nature for her brother. These things just blended right inside the episode.
Now the next adolescence syndrome: Double futaba is an even more interesting one because I think it will affect the character of futaba and Futaba and kunimi's relation . But I am really confused about shouko and whether she really exists or not even now.
In the end a quite interesting and surprising fact. The end was a little strong this time but that's what makes this anime a good one. I look forward to see the next episode and hope that it would be good a this one

To think cat girl had the same name as his first crush though. Funny how much of a threat Kaede see's Shouko though. Futaba actually looks nice with her hair up though it seems she's wary of being seen as normal. The mystery behind Futaba's twin sure was intriguing as was the talk about teleportation. The breakfast scene was cute. Though it seems Futaba usually eats alone. The manner of how Futaba fell for Kunimi was cute. Futaba's twin is less of a twin but more of a copy i guess since they have the same mind and memories. That last reveal was surprising. Overall loved the expansion on Futaba and Mai and the gradual expansion on Kaede and Shouko.

Futaba's double is cute and she is fire well I feel that that's what Futaba really wants to be being little bit more bold
Sleep over and the breakfast parts are great and the seeing how Mai Sakuta relationship is progressing I am so happy right now. NowI am scared of what she has to talk with Sakuta also concerned about Futaba obviously

I really liked this episode. Koga is finally out of the picture and we can focus on Mai and Sakuta and on Futaba; all characters I like. I'm actually very worried about Futaba and how everything will be solved. I'm rooting for her sm, but Kunimi is so oblivious to her lol like she is nowhere near his gf radar. I loved the ending though :)

Now, about this Shouko kid, so far so good, but I don't get why Sakuta's first crush is such a recurrent theme. Was he going through a really harsh time atm and that's why it marked him sm? Was she going through stuff? If anyone wants to drop a spoiler on this I would appreciate it (with spoiler tag ofc).

A little more fanservice this episode, but thematically it fits with what Futaba is trying to do so it doesn't feel gratuitous.

After the night conversation with Sakuta, it's fair to say Mai's pretty committed to the relationship...

Things got really interesting this episode, one of my favourites so far.
I got pretty shocked at the beginning with this new girl who is ( or looks exactly like) Sakuta's crush, just way younger. I wonder if we'll have a double AS at the same time.
I'd say the reason why this is happening to Futaba is pretty obvious. Her clone is basically doing what she isn't brave enough to do, and fulfilling the wishes/desires she decided to burry deep down. I wonder when will she make a move on Kunimi.

The rest of the episode was lovely. I love to see Kaede's cute nature wanting Sakuta's attention, and clingig to him. It really makes her character shine. Also, the scene with Mai was just lovely, I adore how she is warmer by the episode, and how their relationship seems to developed more profoundly each time. I'd say it feels incredibly genuine, and is long past the flirty, tsun phase.
As some users here have mentioned, one of the best things of this show, is how perfect the pace is. Nothing feels rushed, and the relationships between the characters feel genuine and real.
Can't wait for next week's episode.

Kunimi is very much aware in a way. That conversation with Sakuta on the train hinted strongly at him being completely aware of Futaba feels.

Eh that's a complicated one as the reasons for that dive into very harsh spoiler territory but to make it brief.

Mai and Sakuta though.....WHY ARE THEY SO FUCKING PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!! HNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG Man I loved every moment and interaction between them in this episode amd I can't wait until they finally kiss

The beginning scene with Shouko was very nice too btw (I understand why Sakuta fell for her) but man seeing her so young is just so surreal man xD She's a sweet girl too

Sakutas and Mais screentime continues to be treat. It's really fun to see such a flawed, but genuine relationship.

The new arc started really interesting without a time loop, but with a second Futaba instead. The contrast between these two is quite apparent, especially with those pictures shown at the end. Still waters run deep.

Futaba 2 is basically doing some of the things that Futaba wished she could do but wouldn't normally dare to. Kunimi's girlfriend is such a despicable brat and I really wish that Futaba could get her wish and score him, but this series seems way too sophisticated to grant us such an unrealistic wish.

Mai and sakuta are the couple of the year. Period.

I thought Makinohara Shouko was going to be the main focus this time but it's Futaba alright.
Sakuta and Mai's interaction in this episode was so lovely to watch.
Two Futaba huh. Futaba's issue is somewhat relatable to Makinohara's issue I think? (I mean Sakuta met another Makinohara right?)
Also I'm curious about Mai's manager's call. I wonder what Mai wanted to talk about with Sakuta.
And lastly they had to drop a big bomb like that. Futaba is doing some real risky business. And showing that mug and toothbrush in that photo, I think it was taken in Sakuta's house. So the Futaba in Sakuta's house is doing these stuffs I think.
Anyway things sure are starting to get interesting (Like every single episodes. I wanna watch more dammit)

The existence of these worries among a majority of this series' anime-only fans, just shows you how disenchanted we've become by other anime (>_<)

You'd say it's time the industry starts to reflect, but at the same time it is my understanding that the majority of the (Japanese) anime audience actually likes such completely unecessary drama.

I have a theory that the reason for Futaba's split might be that she wanted to be noticed, especially by Kunimi.

She probably asked herself: "There's no way I could appeal to him with my looks. I don't have any sex-appeal, do I?", then tried to see if she could be the version of herself that did have sex-appeal and that could appeal to others with her looks by posting pictures of herself online on Twitter with a secret account.

It's at that point that she got so embarrassed with herself and asked herself: "There's no way I could have done that, is there? It's not me on those picture, or at least it's certainly not the real me... or is it, by any chance?" It's then that the two versions started existing at the same time, separate from each other.

I guess that the solution to resolve this situation would be for Futaba to accept that both versions are actually one and the same.

Dropped. I think it gets a bit boring ... and I doubt it could entertain me again in the next episodes. Shows like Amagami SS where the different girls each get romantic progress were better. (Even Seiren.) Or shows like Oregairu where it was only with mainly 2 girls.

This feels still "okay" since the other girls here are okay. But there isn't really any progress. Feels like a bit of modified boring SoL. (Modified by the scientific stuff ... but still not really interesting.)

A bit shocking to see that lil bit scientific stuff is enough for people to vote this higher than other similar anime (where the girls were better or at least as good as here). :D (I mean it can't be that high only because of the girls since other anime have girls that are better.)

It's okay, not everyone gets every anime. If you try to watch it with expectations that are different from where the plot is heading in addition to judging it by standard from a genre (romance/harem) that only resembles the show's actual genre (fantasy/drama), you will definitely be disappointed.

Except that I don't consider it even trying to be fantasy/detective/drama. Just because someone puts a few of these tags here on MAL and they are adding some stuff like that to not make it look like a generic harem ... it doesn't mean it actually is fantasy/detective or some of that stuff.

Would mean you just had to add 1 fantasy creature to a harem or whatever other genre ... to suddenly turn it fantasy and avoid it being a "harem" (or other stuff you don't want others to call it cause it sounds so bad).

It's hard to choose who's best girl if you tell me:
Futaba lewd science girl or Mai bunny-senpai.

So typical, I mean its so normal for a younger sister to want to pork her older brother. This anime is not even trying to be unique, its a checkmark list of anime fetishes.
