An official website has opened for an anime adaptation of visual novel Grisaia: Phantom Trigger on Saturday. Akio Watanabe (Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai) will serve as the character designer and chief animation director, while Ryuichiro Yamakawa (Grisaia no Kajitsu) will produce the anime.

Grisaia: Phantom Trigger takes place after the existing Grisaia trilogy, and features a completely new group of heroines as well as a new protagonist. The story follows a class of students at Mihama Academy, which has been converted by anti-terror organization CIRS into a "specialist training school" for a new generation of operatives.

Visual Novel Cast
Rena Fukami: Maaya Uchida (Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!)
Touka Shishigaya: Ayane Sakura (Battle Girl High School)
Sakurako Christina Kujirase: Kaori Nazuka (Eureka Seven)
Ikoma Murasaki: Atsumi Tanezaki (Mahoutsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito)
Shiori Arisaka: Mikako Izawa (Wakaba*Girl)
Maki Inohara: Yoshino Nanjo (Clockwork Planet)
Megumi Kumashiro: Suzuko Mimori (Hina Logi: From Luck & Logic)
Sylvia: Juri Nagatsuma (Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren)
Velvet: Chiaki Omigawa (Hanasaku Iroha)

The visual novel is developed by Front Wing with the first two volumes released worldwide in April 2017. The third volume is set to be released on July 28.

Okay so can I ask if this is a sequel or a spin-off? Just asking towards this one since I'm confused.

Second... Hmm, well I didn't liked the first anime, the OVA and Rakuen were good though.

Will see though.

I highly doubt this would be eroge especially from bits of stuff or screenshots that I've seen before.

Oho....The moment I heard about an Official English Translation for this game, I knew this was going to get an anime adaptation in the future.....and here it is.

The Grisaia series is one of, if not, the best harem anime that I have ever watched (I hate harem anime btw) and as long as the franchise gets more anime (doesn't matter if it's a spinoff) then it's fine by me.

I hope the MC for this one is also a GOAT like Kazami Yuuji.

Also, inb4 8bit adapts this one. I didn't like the way they adapted Rewrite but they adapted the Grisaia series a lot better than Rewrite so I have faith that they'll do a decent job on this one.

Actually, it's unlikely this one will be butchered. I've played the VN, and each volume (it's divided into volumes) is only about 3 hours long. 2 volumes have been released so far, and a 3rd one is going to be released at the end of this month. So that's only about 9 hours of content unlike the original Grisaia series (There may be more volumes released, but 3 so far). I would really be appalled if they can butcher this.

Been expecting this for a while now. Not surprised they decide to adapt it.

I hope they won't butcher this. While this isn't as good as its predecessor, it's still fun. Since this is a kinetic novel and all ages, I hope they adapt everything nin nin.

The Grisaia no Kajitsu anime adaptation was such a disaster that just knowing it exists hurts me. So, while I'm hyped, I don't really know what to think...

Highly doubt it though, just because they already have two things. Unless it comes off as sudden, but I'm not too sure (aside from Kngiths' & Magic they have the SoL manga show so that's it).

Will see what happens because I'm not too sure again. Until there's some sort of confirmation or call Idk.

Oh, returned the trend to adapt the visual novel? Or will it not be implied as a harem or romance?

It's spin-off with new characters set after the events of the first trilogy. It's heroines are also more action oriented.

The source for Phantom Triggeris is much shorter and not as serious as the original series, don't expect it to have the same tonal shift. I could be wrong since I'm going by vndb tags.

I can't wait for it. Also, having badass female main character instead of male unlike previous Grisaia show is good thing

If 8bit has it, and it follows previous patterns, this should be a godly anime.

Grisaia no Kajitsu = Masterpiece VN, garbage adaptation
Grisaia no Meikyuu = garbage VN, masterpiece adaptation
Grisaia no Rakuen = meh VN, pretty good adaptation

Phantom Trigger should mirror Meikyuu.

They really haven't ruined Rewrite in a sense tbh. Though it's not great but compared to other adaptations this is pretty much nothing to me tho.

Basically, since Phantom Trigger looks at least as bad as Meikyuu, and 8bit is "opposite" quality adaptors, a Phantom Trigger anime could be good

AKA. they screw up the ones that should be good and improve the ones that are bad, from history

Hence, pointless.

While I enjoyed the original Grisaia, I'm a bit wary about this simply cos its an entirely new cast, and that original group is part of what made the VN (and the show, to a lesser extent) so great, so it'll be weird to have Grisaia without them. I'd probably have to wait until it starts airing and see what kind of reception it receives before I decide.

Yeah I can't do much about it but well its just the matter of it... I mean its not as bad compared to memeserk 2k17 (which I fucking despised, worse than Tokyo Ghoul Root A xD)
