New OP... all I've gotta say is the Zeta Gundam is freaking epic. I love the design and it even looks kind of scary doing the commercial break screens, lol.

Great episode. I like how they're now getting into the politics of the war. I also like how Kamille has matured since the start of the series. It's really funny how he's matured while Katz and Fa have taken over his former position as annoying, immature kids. :)

And the new opening's amazing!

Wow what an episode, one of the best yet.

-New OP, and seriously after seeing an OP like this you know you are before something epic;
-Man the plot advances like crazy in this episode, I really wanna see more on Char;
-Jerid is surely becoming an awesome villain, he started low, and has been rising both in skill and maturity ever since the beginning, he's a very well developed villain and character;
-IT'S BACK! Gaplant! Best Mobile Weapon design ever, it's freaking awesome. BTW, what happened to the female pilot that was poiloting it the first time?

What the hell is wrong with Jerid and Kamille? We have Jerid complaining that he killed Lyla and Kakurikon in battle... what the hell dude? You murdered the kid's mother...
And Char damnit, why the hell do you bother using an alias... everyone and their aunts seem to know who you are...

What a jerk Jerid is, punching a kid and blaming Kamille that Lila and Kacricon died~
Fa is really getting annoying now, please do something useful already!
Now, that Commander Blex is dead, seems like Char is gonna be the leader. He looked creepy in the op with that dark expression on his face~

Yeah, I thought that was some pretty good dark humor right there. Not even a second after Kamille says that Katz nearly gets blown away.

LOL, right? I actually gasped at that. Oh, Katz. :S

I have liked Kamille since day 1, but I love the way he's learning from the people around him and maturing from his experiences. He's more mature now than Amuro ever was, haha. >_> I wonder how much of an effect Four has had on him...Maybe even from the afterlife, like Lalah? Newtypes are weird.

Char seems to know what he's doing~ It's nice to see more development with his ambitions, but we never get enough of him. Sunglasses indoors is too classy.

I'm starting to feel like the anime continues to spin its' wheels rather than do anything exciting during the battles. They're terribly boring and seem to repeat the same pattern over and over. Even when they had Amuro, the battles felt very subpar. I feel like MSG's battles were more exciting to watch.

Why must Fa exist? She's ignites "kill her please" feeling. Must she whine and cry about everything? It doesn't make her interesting, Tomino. I wish Zeta would give us more Katz and the old cast. At least they are/were interesting!

Rip Commodore Blex. Char is epic as always, he will do admirably in Command. Kamille does seem to have greatly matured, and is much less whiny, especially relative to the others. Still wish Amuro was a main character here, but i guess in Z its Kamille's time to shine.

Jerid keeps turning out to be a great antagonist. This thing with Fa needs to stop, I want her to die but seeing her in the ending tells me that she wont. Also, Char with his glasses inside of a kind of United Nations meeting XD badass!

Amazing episode!!

I've been waiting for this OP!! Definitely one of the best in the whole franchise!!

At first i didn't like how Katz is going acting all alone again, but this time i'm glad he was there to back up Kamille when Jerid saw him.

Shame Blex died :( Char must be pissed as hell for this damn titans for doing something dirty like this.

I love how Jerid is much more calmer now like Kamille, but that didn't stop him fro back slapping that stupid kid for trying to get in the way.

It's also funny how that stupid commander jokes about Jerid and Moaur to go out and shopping, but the moment a fight occurs he instantly tries to contact both.

And Fa is being immature once again, I'm glad Reccoa didn't get hurt by that dirty slip. And if she didn't tried to go inside the colony the damage would have stayed outside.

Loving this show!! I can't wait to finish this this week!!!

Can't wait for the next episode!!

That moment was bloody funny. Definitely the highlight of this episode.

Fa just needs to go. Where are the Saylah's and Mirai's and Fraw Bow's? Zeta seems to filled with either completely insipid or painfully annoying female characters (bar a few exceptions).

I like the hints at the political side of this, but I doubt it will be explored any more thoroughly than it was in MSG.

I agree that the battles in MSG were more entertaining, but I guess pilots hitting each other less is a consequence of having most battles be between named characters (read: plot armor) and the lack of a nigh-indestructible Gundam.

Still, I think Kamille is developing more nicely than Amuro did in MSG, and for now Scirocco's worthiness as an antagonist is comparable to Char's in MSG. The lesser characters are very hit or miss; the noteworthy ones in Zeta are generally better than the noteworthy ones in MSG, yet the bland/annoying ones in Zeta are generally worse than the bland/annoying ones in MSG.

So my thoughts are mixed right now. My gut has a slight inclination to say I like MSG more at the moment, but considering that it's a slight inclination, I wouldn't feel right saying that definitively since there are key parts of Zeta that are improvements...

I think the long and short of it could be condensed to this: MSG seems to have had better action and political/war themes, while Zeta has better character development for key characters (although the recurring cast is more mixed in terms of interest) and has more hooks for major thematic developments that could end up outshining MSG's.

Er, coming back from the tangent, this specific episode did a lot of good things, but didn't feel like as huge of an improvement comparatively as some are making it out to be. We did have more personal developments with the whole cast, so maybe I'm underselling it: Jerid and Kamille's dynamic took a nice turn; Char may have just encountered a significant turning point; and I could see both Katz and Fa shaping up better after these events... It's probably just the action getting to me a bit again. I think I underestimated how much I appreciated that aspect of MSG.

Anyway, yeah, good episode. I'll stop rambling now.

I like the new OP better than Zeta's first OP. It's still nothing compared to the original series' OP, though.
"Ute yo! Ute yo! Ute yo!" Nothing beats that. :D

As for the series at this point... Each episode feels kind of disjointed from the last, and it feels like stuff is just kind of happening each episode.
There isn't really an overarching plotline, so each episode just kind of feels like these characters are doing a random assortment of things for no real purpose other than they're "contributing to the war effort" and whatnot. Honestly, it's become kind of boring and I've lost interest, but I'm still forcing myself through it, in the hopes that it becomes good again, like the original MSG was.

A new opening who looks beautiful. The music is still.good.

Jerid seems slightly more interesting than before, but it might be due to the way people play with him.
Fa and Katz are so stubborn. I know Katz disobedience turned out useful this time but it was only an accident. At the end, they never think, they only want to act no matter what.

Politics finally ! The situation is changing. ^^ The show was boring until now, despite minor exciting things (some Char's actions, previous cast appearances...)

What an irresponsible man, unless death got his reason. Do we really need that? Char getting the means to achieve the desire he expressed back then on Texas: to realize his insane father's will? Not me.
Even as the mere leader of an armed force, he is very bad: he would send anyone to death for his goals, "thanks" to his charisma and legendary reputation.

In the final The Origin tome's featured interview, Yasuhiko claims that during MSG production they wanted to go against the trend in those day's anime (most were coming-of-age stories). He adds that it is the reason why Amuro doesn't change. (I wanted to quote the sentences but the book is somewhere in a carton box)

What makes you think Char's father was insane? As far as I know he just wanted independence from the Federation... Am I wrong? Hell, if it weren't for their war crimes and Gihren's insanity I wouldn't even have enough information to conclude that the Zabi family winning the war would be a bad thing.

I didn't think Kamille was immature or annoying in the first few episodes. I thought he was insane, and I loved him for it. Now I know he just appeared to be insane because of bad writing.

Char is now in charge of the AEUG. I wonder if anything will change because of that. At last, the series seems to be getting somewhere.

Maybe for the first time in this series, I can say that this was a good episode, even if Fa bawling at the end was horribly out of place.

@Lease_of_Life Sorry, it might be due to his actual representation in The Origin (while you only heard about him from flawed perspectives and have to reconstruct yourself an image through rumours, children's views and Degwin's sayings in the original animation)
I understood him as a student who started and promoted an independence movement, yes. But toward the end of his life, he was clearly not that anymore: he looked like a cross between a (possibly dangerous) cross between a new age sect guru and a desperate politic leader about to start a lost war (that was actually delayed by Degwin or his eldest son assassination, at least I suppose it was one of them) or better said a masses reaction who would certainly have been severely repressed by the Federation Forces.
I progressively considered Degwin Zabi as the most cautious/conscious of his clan, but he also seemed better than Zeon Deikun (too bad, he mostly stood behind Deikun first then his sons later).
About his son Gihren, he was undoubtedly mad but wasn't he pushing harder the ideology funded by Deikun and his followers?

It is official the Titans are in charge and can do whatever they please not that they haven’t done that since the beginning of the show.

On a side note:
When I was listening to Katz & Jerid I was going to say the same thing that Kamille said (the civilians are the only one who are suffering from all this conflict) I’m glad he said that. Talking about thing that made me glad, I liked that Fa at the end acknowledge how foolish it was to run to that colony (involving the civilians & their city) when doing that type of behavior that is the only thing that I ask... make the character acknowledge his/her failure so I can root for them not scream at the TV because of their actions...

This episode has pretty much confirmed that this anime doesn’t know what its doing. The anime has no through-line to anchor the plot and make events feel like the have consequence; things just happen. Major aspects of the story don’t even make sense if you think about it hard enough.

This episode shows that the Titans never had absolute control throughout the entirety of the anime up to this point. They were still subject to the control of the Earth government. We also learned that the AEUG’s leader was a member of the legislature. This means that the AEUG has been fighting a war against a force they had a legal pathway fight. Evidence showing the Titans used poisonous gas should easily be enough to prevent the Titans from getting control of the Earth Federation and even get the force curtailed. Someone controls the Titan’s budget. The war AEUG has been fighting has probably been counterproductive. Attacks in space and even on Earth are more likely to convince the legislature to give power to the Titans.

I don’t understand how Fa and Katz continue to get away with their insubordination. I don’t get how Bright can have seven more years of experience and have less control of his ship than in the One Year War.

The result of the battle made no sense. The Titans won the city through their superior numbers, yet they then loss the city without any clear change between the forces involved. There is no explanation as to why the results are different, especially considering the Titans initiated the fight sooner than the AEUG planned for it.

Why does Fa need to such a bitch??!
She's annoying like fuck. Take position with an expert gundam pilot and whining through the battle while risking the mission's success and requesting others for her aid.
I hate her. Probably most hated till now.

I couldn't bear Fraw Bow sometimes in Gundam 79. But this, totally unbearable!!
Always skip the ending because of her.

Gotta respect Katz for that kick to Haro xD I think he's the first one to do it.

Btw when Jerid kicked a gun out of Katz's hand, he could've easily shot both him and Kamille, which can be easily seen. Well, whatever.

Tomino returned Blex only to have him killed! Sad.

The skirmish in the 2nd half was just super random and came out of nowhere. Lol'd at Reccoa and Fa racing to the mobile suit. I also have to say I liked when the Hizack smashed through the dome, it helped show what a disaster a battle can be to civilians. I honestly expected them to beat Jerid up after he slapped a kid.

As for politics, I don't think this aspect will develop well.

Had to laugh when they used the commercial break screen animation in the actual episode, lmao.

This episode had some dumb moments, like Kamille running away from Jerid when he disarmed Katz, instead of shooting (I know he doesn't like killing people, but he could have easily gotten shot in the back) and the big crowd of citizens letting Jerid and his side chick go even though they are the enemy and just hit a child. They weren't *that* intimidating.

Blex kinda died off-screen, Fa is crying again... Didn't care much about this episode tbh

How the hell wasn't everything vacuumed up as soon as the glass broke? It would be fine if a metal shutter closed over the glass as soon as it broke. But it didn't. The moment the vacuum started everything that wasn't nailed down hard, should have been sucked right up into space. Now that would have given Fa some real life changing trauma.

Really odd thing to forget about when written a story heavily taking place in space?
