The live-action movie adaptation is accessible to English-speaking audiences and it's better than the more recent Star Wars movies. The movie also has some Fifth Element feel to it. Speaking of The Fifth Element, it's been a while since I last watched it.

It's from a French space opera novel called Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Hey man! wanna see something cool? well, I'll show it to you anyway:

Oh! so you're watching GTO, I see! and I'm watching Armored Trooper Votoms. It's getting really good so far, watching Chirico and Fyana escaping through a desert planet resembling Mars from two military factions. Armored Trooper Votoms is manly enough to suit my tastes, even more than most of the old U.C Gundam.

Fair enough. Same reason i dropped berserk. Watched a bunch of episodes out of order with my older brother like 8 years ago and was just like eh this is kind of edgy and boring. Throw it in the drop list for 2 decades before I get back to it.

Yep! but Kids on the Slope is respectable josei where as conventional anime lack a lot of humanistic stories.

About hentai or X-rated anime, they're adult animation for sure, but not all adult animation is hentai. I wish that those new psychological josei manga would get adapted, but the anime studios suggest something like "we're just going make anime based on unnecessarily rehashed shounen manga and often poorly written light novels to suit juvenile catering in order to obtain more money".

Never heard of Masaaki Yuasa, but he's done some degree of work in Space Dandy and Samurai Champloo, sounds like a versatile type of guy. I'll have to check out his own directed stuff since I'm getting sick of recycled, conventional family-friendly anime with mediocre frame rates and tired of seeing anime having the Saturday morning cartoon routine.

Okay, so I finished Gokusen it's my favorite josei series next to Kids on the Slope. Can't wait to try more adult animation soon. Yeah! I like shounen, but mostly old-school stuff.

Hello! I just noticed that you are watching Zillion, which I didn't watch in 3 years. I'm currently watching Gokusen and it's actually a cool josei manga series. Before Gokusen, I watched El Hazard, which was the start of Lia Sargent's career before becoming an acting instructor.

Yo Vigorous! how are you doing? I was on AniList since MAL got into technical problems.
Kurt_Irving May 17, 2018 8:38 PM
Anywho, you seem to be enjoying the new Lupin series a lot. I remember when I discovered dubbed episodes of the Red Jacket Lupin III series, which I think is still a great anime from the 70s, the most underrated decade for animation, not a lot of adult animation was present in this era.

I get where you're going and aliens or extraterrestrials have been featured in entertainment for a long time since Captain Scarlet, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Mysterons, The Big Pull and even Star Trek were brought into the limelight. So yeah! Argento Soma is an underrated gem that I would recommend.

I tend to enjoy later-era cel animations too like Sakura Wars, Ah! My Goddess (movie), Knockin' On Heavens Door and even the 2003 Astro Boy, which has astounding hand-drawn animations for its time before everything went fully CGI, but with very poor frame rates compared to Geneshaft most of the time.

Btw, you may want to read the later half of the GTO manga after watching the show.

Welcome back Vigorous! as you can see, I have re-watched Argento Soma recently after 7 years. It's an original series which looks like it may be somewhat inspired by The X-Files. Other than that, I would recommend this series more to adult males or men and another thing I love about it is the flawless dub, so good it gets you hooked to the story from start to finish. Michael Heartland (one of the best army veterans I've seen in anime) has the same American voice as Jet from Cowboy Bebop and even the narrator from Outlaw Star.

Now that I'm done re-watching this series, I will then watch the last episode of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. I just want to see the whole prelude of the manga with the same name before I continue reading it. Who Char, the Zabi family, Artesia, Casval and even Amuro were before the One Year War. Minerva was a baby before the war as you can already tell.

Btw, I'm such a big fan of Sunrise.

Of course and I finally learned how to use sharp tools like an X-Acto Knife for art.

Hey Vigorous! I hope you don't mind showing you this:
