How do you guys pronounce or say the word "ANIME" ?
i personally say it as anna-may but i know others who say it as anee-méh, or do you guys say it differently ? and if you do please write it below phonetically.

Edit: added "annie-may" a combination of the above two due to its apparent ubiquity and popularity among you guys, so feel free to change if you say that.

I pronounce the way it's pronounced in the language I'm speaking at the moment, so "Anna-May" in English, "Anee-Méh" in Japanese, and "Anee-Me" in German.

i've long since stuck by "Ann-Uh-May" but if you're to be judiciously proper about it, then "Ah-Knee-Meh" is more-or-less how it goes...

ANIME-JA-NAI!!! (I Swear to God it is Not an Anime, It is REAL.)

Anna-May. It would seem more abrupt to use the latter pronunciation (in a conversation in English, at least). Same with karaoke ('carry-oh-key') and karate ('karah-dee') - such words have become anglicized, so there's no point going back.

depends on the accent
if I'm speaking in english, anna-may so same as you
if I'm speaking in my native tongue than it's ah-nee-may
and If I'm trying to do a horrible attempt at a japanese accent that would get me bullied for life, ah-ni-meh

A-nih-may. So like Japanese for the first two syllables, but then ending in may.

Of course, that's my pronunciation of the English word. I would endeavour to pronounce the Japanese word in the Japanese way. But that's a different word meaning all animation in general.

I'm personally of the opinion that anime pronounced Anna-May is technically it's own word in the west with a different, more specific meaning (like sake and sushi). I've also been learning Japanese for a good bit, despite still not being very good at it. So, when I'm speaking or reading English, I say (anna-may), but when I'm saying a sentence that's mostly or all, Japanese I pronounce it correctly.

English words pronunciation makes no sense and follow no rule while the Japanese Katakana are extremely easier to understand how to pronounce perfectly. I'm not even confident enough to tell if I can pronounce the words on the polls correctly. However, アニメ, I cannot mispronounce that even if I tried.

Not really stolen from french though is it?  I sometimes forget Romanian is a romance language...  Dessiner "deh-see-neh" is the french word for "draw".

I say it "animé"  anee-meh

I pronounce it just like it is pronounced in Japanese. My native languege's variant sounds pretty much the same. It just has slightly different placement accents, but it's minimal to a point that perhaps only a native speaker from Japan would notice it sounding a little bit odd.

Japanese protonation of course, should sound close to 'animation'. This word too violates usual English language rules on pronunciation of 'i'
