THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Welp, the rebels vs the Elite 10 continues. I do find the food themes for this season so far pretty similar to the previous ones.

A lot of mind games as usual. Everyone's fired up on both sides. I'm really glad they're giving Subaru a chance to shine this episode. He's an underrated character in this franchise and I've always been impressed by his skills.

Mimasaka is a funny character. His impersonations are amusing.
Too bad he lost against the elite ten.

That was some high level stalking skills by Mimasaka.
Too bad both the rebels lost. I expect something to happen with the battle against the first seat.

That alligator and elephant kaijuu battle was lol. I love those exaggerated reactions

Mimasaka is the GOAT. Was really hilarious to see this finally animated.

And welp, results are not really surprising so far and it's like Kouga's dish will change anyhting :S

I didn't like that copycat chef but he's the best thing of this episode, so funny!
The sushi chef is so sexy, real-world sushi chef is quite fat and dress in fully cloth, not revealing cloth like him.

I got the feeling the rebels were going to lose, since they started beating their rivals in the first round and beating the top 4 in the second wouldn't leave the stakes too high for the last round. Kuga will probably lose too, considering he's facing the top 1 elite. Well, at least Megishima accepted his defeat with dignity.

Also, I love my boy Mimasaka, but his imitations of Rindou, Akanegakubo and Nene are going to haunt me to my grave.

Is it just or they brought back the original orgasmic heavenly soundtrack whenever there’s a foodgasm? This episode honestly gave me season 1 chills

Yup as expected. After winning the first round 3:0 they are going to lose the second one 0:3.
I don't think Kuga is gonna win honestly.

While the outcome was very much predictable as always, since Megishima and Mimasaka presented their dish first, it was still pretty captivating tbf

Sadly no foodgasm on Rindo's dish lol

Damn, that was a pretty nice ep, almost reminded me of the early Food Wars eps, gg J.C

Pretty expected that they were gonna lose though considering how the rebels won the first battle

The white knight of the table huh. Considering his skills an apt title indeed. Subaru's trace sure was timely though man his impression of Kuga sure was creepy. Despite the challenge of challenging such an opponent Kuga's determination is quite admirable. The match between Subaru and Somei though was also quite impressive despite the large advantage that Somei had. The sushi that was prepared by both sure were beautiful. Urara's desperate denial of Subaru's dish and her submission to it sure proved to be entertaining. Still too bad that they were unable to beat their respective opponents. Looking forward to seeing whether Kuga can turn the tide though.

This episode was quite predictable. It's stupid how certain characters always win and very very Shounen. Make me worry about what's to come.

Mimasaka's impressions were an absolute cringe fest. I like it.

What I really do not like is how little animation there is and yet everything is so rushed. Sure, there is a lot to cover this episode but the great thing about SnS was how the show enjoys the moment and presents many perspectives. This is just punchline after punchline. At times not even the soundtrack seems to keep pace with the show.

Are are, mimasaka of the sharingan, his trace was on par with kakashi. That speed!

Anyway. As much as I want Kuga to win, it would be rather anticlimactic if he does, so I feel that he will lose. How unfortunate -well, onwards to next week.

Mimasaka copying everyone's expressions was just too funny! Eventho with his trace stuff, he put up quite a battle against the 4th seat.

Had a feeling Rindo would have no issue winning as well, now it's waiting to see if Kuga can pull a surprise on Tsukasa!

Animation WTF?

Slide left, slide down, zoom in, zoom out, add moving background and slide left again - for like whole episode!

There was barely any character motion in this episode save for their mouths moving maybe. I really wanted to like the episode but this was so intrusive, it completely ruined my enjoyment of the episode. Most of the time there wasn't even clear what's going on and by the half of the running time I lost my interest completely. This is not the Souma I know... and they even used ecstasy music for losing meal, eh?

I bet the current directing (and maybe a budget even) is to blame but if this continues even further whole season would be ruined.

Also, haven't see so much derpy faces in a while. In some cases few characters didn't even matched their looks from previous season.

Honestly, disappointed. It's been a while since I've seen Season 3, but there's little to no intensity or anticipation in these battles and I'm having a hard time caring

Music too loud and distracting.

Pretty nice episode. I feel that the pace was better and like I said last week, I don't think the lack of animation affects this show as much as it could affect others, but of course it would be nice if it was better.

Subaru's imitations were fucking hilarious, the girls ones are gonna give me nightmares.... that Nene with all her tsunderism lmao.

Rina Hidaka's character foodgasm... nice. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

My issue with the episode was that the parts in the beginning and just before the end were a tad too fast. Sometimes I felt as if watching it at 1.25x speed. I hope it's not to rush the manga. Otherwise, pretty solid. Kuga is always great, especially with him being serious. Story wise, my only gripe is that Mimasaka is still copying and adding. It's explainned that they are swalloling their pride to win, but I still felth it could've been a tad better.

Damn if this animation isn't better at convincing me to read the manga than a good adaptation. But by all accounts the rest isn't worth it, so I'll just sit through the rest of this season. If nothing else, I do prefer the orgasms with color and voice.

I can accept Mimasaka lost even though the reason is kind of ridiculous (as always :P). It feels like he lost by 0.000001% if you ask me.

But for Megishima to lose feel like plot convenience.. He lost in his own specialty (yet he accept the result so easily) and Rindo was just 1 seat higher than him.. If she was a lot of seats higher then surpassing him in his own field might be easier to believe.

The reason the ramen master needs to lose is because my guess, Kuga is going to draw with the first seat in the next episode after 2 VS 1. Actually I'm okay with the first seat overwhelming the numbers by claiming a victory too.

Damn it, Mimasaka! His stalking skills have certainly gotten even better and creepier recently and his copying of the elite ten members was pure comedy gold! XD

His flash perfect tracing was very effective, but his very minor imperfections with the sushi cuts was the main reason he lost against Saito. As for Megishima, his battle against Rindo was fierce, but the alligator got the better of the elephant this time.

The foodgasms was faithfully animated as they appeared in the manga and J.C Staff nailed that really well. The way that Anne was hugging the sushi and then the cayenne pepper while being nude at the same time was hot. =P

Kuga is now the last hope for this 2nd round, but let's not forget that he IS up against Tsukasa, so beating him will be really tough. Looking forward to the next episode as always. =)

I said this last episode and I'll say it again, it really feels like the episode is moving at 2x speed lol.

Anyway, predictable outcome this episode, especially after a clean sweep in the first round. I think we all know what the result of Kuga vs. Tsukasa will be. I mean come on, it's TSUKASA we're talking about after all.

Mimasaka copying everyone from the elite ten made me feel uncomfortable, especially the girls X(

Great episode again! It sounds like the judges are more into flavor for not chosing the sushi ones... Rindo can be wild making her dish but that's what defines her personality and I admire that courage of trying exotic flavors ^^ Now, can Kuga beat Tsukasa? Too curious to see the results >_>

So mind numbingly boring. I am so over Shokugeki no Soma man, I have no interest in this season whatsoever... the lack of animation is so bothersome as well.. like there's absolutely 0 movement, how can people even enjoy this level of production.. it escapes the realm of rational thought.
