----------------------------------------
This fight felt like a revenge battle. Asuka is getting payback for her friend that they tortured. Glad they kept the violence and she managed to win.

Kurumi's fight was tough to watch in particular since her opponent is so sadistic. Poor Nozomi, she suffered a lot from the physical and mental damage. (so much that seeing a magical girl scares the fuck out of her)

Well it's good that they at least managed to remove her terrible memories of the recent events. She didn't deserve that shit at all.

Asuka was owning during combat tho it seems she had to make a sacrifice at the end for Nozumi.
Well it looks like things are turning out well for them right now tho.
But the enemy also got away, without her fingers tho.

Someone help me, werent they like 9 Mahou Shoujous at the beginning? Why did she say they used to be 11?
Also is it just me or does the "Queen" look like the dead former Mahou Shoujo Squad Leader?

There were 11 of them. It is just that 2 did not make it to the final battle and 4 more died during it.

And nah, Francine should be dead for sure. At best it is someone using her body.

Please do tell me is there a sequel of some sorts or where did you get that meta knowledge? I only started this franchise with this anime.

No wonder that Nozomi ended up suffering from PTSD. But luckily they could still save her from living a miserable life. Erased memories seem like a small price to pay for this.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

To think that Abby was an illegal magical girl though. The fight between Asuka and the Russian tag team sure was fun. The fight between Abby and war nurse though was brutal. Given her personality its no wonder Kurumi hates that term. Too her that term is forgetting all of her friends that died ending that war Nice to see M squad make their debut as well. Asuka's expression as she fought Abby though. The queen appearing to save Abby was quite the surprise as was her powers. Though her physical injuries were healed the mental trauma unfortunately is not that easy. Its sad seeing Nozomi and Asuka's relationship fracture though. Though cruel i guess it was the only way. Excellent ep that did well in not just concluding the battle between Asuka/Kurumi and the enemy but also show how brutal their battles can be to their friends as well. If anything after this incident Asuka is more determined than ever.

"Dying."

Girl of mass destruction, seems familiar? (looking at you Mahou Shoujo Site..)

From today:

I am pretty sure Francine either lived and got captured then turned or she died for real and something is possessing her body..

She does know Asuka after all and Asuka had deja vu as well. I wonder if we are getting extremely trolled here but I am holding myself back from jumping into the manga lmao.

These kills were GLORIOUS!

Also Asuka is pretty much the Japanese version of (American McGee's) Alice, confirmed lol.

One of her dresses is a bit similar to Asuka's.

The scissors girl got her finger cut off. Good!

After the torture, I knew Nozomi would get PTSD, but the way she behaved seemed unnatural. Wouldn't it be more natural if she'd begged Asuka and Kurumi to stay away and said she'd do anything? The same things she'd said to the other people?

While I can understand not wanting to write a character that has to get used to their PTSD, wiping Nozomi's memory without any consequences seems lazy. Hope something happens as a result of the memory wiping.

Are the superiors of Spec-ops bad people? Hope not. I am tired of seeing it being used again and again.

The opening theme is really catchy. I have listened to it multiple times this week.

Today's episode had very good fights and Nozomi was rescued, but it ended with serious mental aftermath.
Asuka had a very difficult fight against the two Russian mercenaries, but she eliminated them easily, I was really happy when i saw they did not censor when the mercenaries die.
Kurumi manages to cure Nozomi's serious injuries and sends her to a safe place, but now she must face Abigail's madness.
The fight of Kurumi and Abigail was very unequal, the psychopath of the scissors had two monsters in her favor and Kurumi suffers a very hard beating.
Sanchuu had his fight against that goblin who worked for Abigail, the small being is very strong and violent.
Kurumi was about to lose her leg, but the M squad arrives in time to support her and keep Abigail distracted until Asuka arrives and slices Abigail's fingers, but the damn psychopath is rescued by the Queen.
It was sad to see the mental state in which poor Nozomi ended, but when Kurumi said she could help I felt relieved, but not all good news, she had to erase the memories of all the events that happened that week, that includes the trip to the pool with the girls.
In the end Asuka decides to join the M squad, to avoid further misfortunes and to be able to protect her precious friends. It was comforting to see Nozomi healthy, Kurumi's magic worked perfectly and Asuka seemed very happy to see her cheerful.

Today they showed us a little more the physical appearance of the "Queen" that Abigail so much idolizes and if I am sincere, she looks a lot like the girl who dies in the dream / flashback of Asuka, I see the possibility that she has survived, or It must be someone using her body.

Well, instead of me saying the same thing about the animation, action scene and etc again, being like a meh to ok, or about the bad design of the female characters, including the new scissors mg or the masked mg with bouth large breast with embarassing outfit, let's get, or at least try, to the point.
There was a wasted oportunity with the Nozomi having a trauma because of all the mess that happen with her in previous episode and this scene was good in term of drama. It could be used to make an another point of view about magical girl, an antagonized point about the mg at all, not caring about "good" or "bad" Magical Girl, until the moment that she turns into a real antagonist or even villan of the story maybe. This could create a lot of discussion abou the theme of the show. But no, bring the nurse to erease all of her memories. Really?
Asuka decides to enter to the Spec Ops of Magical Girls, because she wants to protect her precious ones, yey and whatever.
This episode in overrall was a meh with not really something memorable, just having the same okish action scenes, a wasted oportunity with just good dramatic moment and nothing else.

Whaaaat?! So after all that, the only price to be paid is Nozomi loses a week's worth of memories and poor, sensitive Asuka who's supposedly lost friends in the most brutal ways in war cries because she has to deal with rewatching a movie and going to the pool again? Wtf? Nozomi should've been permanently damaged, that would've been a much better excuse for her to join the spec-ops. Dammit Kurumi! Keep your Jane Eyre healing powers to yourself, you want to get down with Asuka anyway don't you?!

*SIGH* This writing is so weird...

This show is super underrated. It's criminal that the score is only 6.5.

I realised during the fight with the Russians and the subsequent butchering, that this show is what A Certain Magical Index wishes it was. Seriously, it's Index but with a plot that you can follow and fucking crazy violence.

Definitely deserves a bit more appreciation, although it's pretty gruesome so I can understand why people might steer clear.

A bandage that can reattach severed limbs? Nifty...And a first-aid spray that quickly restores a burned portion of the body? Very nifty. Geez, Kurumi could open a clinic and that would be easy money for her...

Barber Scissors Abby. I don't hear "Barber" in anime very often...

The queen knows Asuka...is the queen Francine?

Ugh...the sound effects are so underwhelming...

Now Nozomi despises Magical Girls. You know, Asuka's eyes may look weird, but I think that design was intentional. It makes her eyes more expressive that way...

War Nurse can cure PTSD if she does it soon enough? God damn it, Kurumi is one of the most OP medics I've ever seen!

Awww...young Asuka is so cute. I like this take of Asuka being a Magical Girl. She wanted to be a hero, but what she found instead was a never-ending fight...

Finally! After teasing Just Cause Mia last episode, we finally get to see her again next episode. Bring on the big guns!

Now, this is a fun episode. Deliciously violent fights in Asuka vs mercenaries, and an even more brutal fight in Kurumi vs Abby. Don't have a problem with the violence, because I watched Yuyu Hakusho years ago. I guess those mercenaries could not get their paychecks anymore. Abby, really loyal to the queen.. she's angry and psychotic, but still would not kill Kurumi because the queen would not like it.

Good to see Nozomi ptsd was cured. And Asuka can enjoy good movie with friends.

Looking forward to next week. :)

One of the top 3 anime this season. (Along with Dororo ofc)

It outperforms that crap Shield Hero shit in terms of characterization, character development, antagonists, setting, meaning of fighting, and how trauma is handled (looking at shield hero , hahaha) by miles.

This is not a series about shallow torture porn or violence, but an illustration our post war situation in real life. The 2nd World War was over decades ago, but it doesn't mean the world is really at peace, and everyday somewhere there's someone who's suffering. Soldiers and police can't take break and retire just because the war is over when threat of terrorists and other malicious figures still roam around our world somewhere, and no-one is really safe.

This anime does not shy away from the brutality of combat , fighting, and even its victims. It also uses very technical terms and style when it comes to combat, explains its mechanic perfectly and let the magic setting bland in so well with reality. It is like watching Fate Zero on a budget (animation can use some improvement, but I can tell the studio already tried pretty hard with limited budget they have. A lot of studio with low budget perform much worse than this.)

Seriously I lost hope in Mal already giving low rating to series like this just because they can't handle brutality which perfectly represent real life situation.
They give anime like Shield Hero good rating when the villains, side characters, world building of that series is laughably bad , irrational, and childish. Just because it's Isekai, everyone forgives all the bad writing, bad characterization, and typical light novel pandering. (just make every good guy a loli so otaku will love it)

I pretty much agree with everything you said. War and it’s after effects aren’t glorious, and a grand adventure, it’s ugly, brutal and pure misery. One of the reasons I like anime so much is that it has a high percentage of series that don’t glorify violence but rather depict the stark reality of it.

Correct.

I also recommend the first game although it's very dated by now (released in 2000) but it's still a classic nonetheless.

It was a bit confusing when Nozomi suddenly got her arm back. Aside from that I quite enjoyed the first half; the second one was okay.

Ugh, poor War Nurse, even though I am not too fond of her. The monster smashing her against the ground was so savage. I liked that it was shown thata although mainly a "healer2 she knows how to fight on her own.

I'm gonna keep on watching this. I was thinking about dropping this but now I'm gonna give it at least 2 more chances, considering that next ep seems to be a filler).

Her nearly getting killed wasn't tense enough? You'd rather her suffer EVEN MORE? What the fuck? And War Nurse's powerful healing has been established since episode two.

It's also a war crime to take and torture hostages.

I want shit to get resolved as quickly as possible. You DON'T fuck with civilians.

It also seemed that Asuka might've been against War Nurse administering that procedure for moment. Thank God she saw the validity of it. And they are still going to see that show after all like they were going to at the end of episode 3!

Ah so they did get the arm . Why didn't they show that they took . Unless it was supposed to be obvious,

Anyway don't see how it ruins the tension by healing nozamis arm and curing her PTSD . If anyone had the option to get rid of PTSD they probably would do it

And healing her arm was obvious as well war nurse is well a magic nurse of course they will reattach the arm

Well, the mercenaries got what was coming for them. Abigail got off lightly, but her type deals poorly with failure and pain and it will prey on her mind.

Erasing Nozomi's memories was the right call and it at least didn't affect their relationship.

Now that Asuka decided to take action, the curtain is rising.
