| I thought of making an account there but I desisted for the following 2 reasons: 1. I've empirically discovered that my enjoyment of anime decreased after making my MAL account, since now every time I watch an anime I'm stupidly thinking: "hmmm, this is like a 7, or maybe an 8?", instead of focusing my mind in actually enjoying the show, and also because reading negative opinions of the shows I've watched in forums or reviews makes me think and feel "ohh, yeah, in reality it wasn't that good because what this dude says makes sense, too bad"... so I'm afraid the same happens to my non-anime movie experiences if I make an account there... 2. I simply just don't want more accounts/lists here and there and everywhere around, I don't like this almost new paradigm of a human being being an accumulation of accounts, numbers, nicknames, lists and data... every time I stumble upon a profile linking to the many accounts that person has everywhere else I feel all that, and I don't wanna be part of it. MAL is more than enough to me already. |

Both are perfectly okay, but really, the main use of Letterboxd is as a personal diary of the stuff you watch, it's not like MAL which favors accumulating ratings in a list, in this website this is secondary to the diary features. A lot of people don't rate and just use it to keep track of what they watch and when. |

| I haven't been too active in developing and tending to my Letterboxd account in the direction I initially envisioned, but recently I finished transferring and updating a list of different films from over the years that I've seen at least once on The Movie Database (it aims to be IMDB's successor since the forum over there was liquidated). It's a list I previously only kept in a Notepad file. It's an incomplete list as it's plausible I could be missing a good 50-100+ entries, but it's what I'm left with after scouring all memory of my movie watching history and am satisfied for now: https://www.themoviedb.org/list/125941 This is my chosen format, because I can maintain an easy access list on a single page for my film history. It's very user-friendly. I also maintain a similar list on the site for TV shows. I haven't, however, done anything else with my account there either, like posting on the individual message boards. |
