 An announcement made by P.A. Works at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair this year revealed that Uchouten Kazoku (The Eccentric Family) will be getting an anime sequel. The series is P.A. Works' first sequel and staff from the first season will return. In addition, the main cast of the first season will also be resuming their roles. The first season aired from July to September 2013 for a total of 13 episodes. It was the only TV anime to win the Excellence Award at the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards in 2013. A manga adaptation was also published with four volumes. The second season will be based on the second volume of the novel titled Uchouten Kazoku Nidaime No Kicho which was published by Gentosha in February 2015, and third (and possibly final) volume announcement has been made by author Tomihiko Morimi at the end of the second volume. | I yelled so loud when I saw this news, so that's why I saw the Uchouten Kazoku tweet from PA Works, although I was not paying much attention and only saw something about BD/DVD. All my yes, fuck yeah!!! Like many others here, Uchouten Kazoku was that breath of fresh air in summer 2013 (aside from Gin no Saji), and it was just that one show that's really stayed with me ever since. I can't believe we're getting a second season omggggg. Glad that this is the series that will be PA Works' first sequel, it's just too amazing, even if it's not an anime original. The staff did a great job with the anime adaptation (not that I am familiar with the novel though), in that it was just so enjoyable and well directed. So happy to hear that the same staff will be returning for the second season as well, although I'm not surprised. I wouldn't mind if it comes summer 2017, Uchouten Kazoku just feels like a very summer anime. I love the Shimogamo family and I really hope we get to learn more about the mysterious and complicated Benten! | Could never get into the first season, it was a bit try hard for me. Feels in a way like a few Madhouse or Shaft anime, in that they try to be avant garde but end up just being kitsch. I'll give it another try though. Eventually. |

There are anime sitting in 8+ lines which, frankly, are overrated. While there are ones in 7-7.99 (tho mostly 7.5+) which deserve much higher. Anyways, the point is that there are many great anime in 7.00-7.99 line too. If you aren't watching them, you are missing a lot. |

| Personally, this was the one my favourite shows in 2013 and I'm glad that P.A. Works have chosen this as their first sequel. I think I should re-watch season 1 again soon. =) |
| That's what I call a good surprise ! It's quite funny because the first season is actually the last anime serie I completed this summer, and it was extremely enjoyable ride. I had no idea it would/could get a sequel, but I'm all for it. Will be waiting for it eagerly. |
