Damn, the feels....

Great start for the episode and it captured the essence of Mushishi yet again. Really liked how it was handled as life and death is shown in that mystical way. I'm glad this show is back on.

A young Ginko and the reason he is always chewing on something.

It was nice to see Ginko overcoming his urge for greater power.
Having broken the egg and guided back by the natural order.

A fabulous episode! The consequence :(

Magnificent Mushishi returns and first episode was great; concentrating on one of kid Ginko's story.

Mushi Trivia

Suguro was a pretty nice guy; took care of Ginko despite knowing he's a natural attractor of Mushi, which can cause some good deal of troubles.

Kid Ginko was a bit naive to think he can make the power of the glowing egg his own. But at the same time, he did realize it was an absurd thought.

Loved the scene with him giving the cracked egg in the hands of the Natural Order and how it allowed Ginko to return without any issue.

Can't blame Suguro for being upset at Ginko but his last words to him was great. Everybody belongs somewhere.

Great start! Ending OSTs was just as marvelous as ever!

Welcome back old friend, although this time Ginko your absence has been much shorter. A very good episode where we see the younger Ginko again. I wonder how much chaos he has caused before he become the wiser but still wonderfully curious senpai we know and love now.

The contrast between his young and old self is phenomenal. Instead of the ever-wise mushishi, we have someone who comes across as one of the features characters we are used to seeing every episode. Frightened, isolated in their agony, unsure of their place in the world and haunted by their past. Ginko's younger self almost personifies the qualities that are often showcased in this series. It's a hopeful end to the episode knowing his future, yet a heartbreaking one in the present time.

I like Ginko's feminine younger voice too, very odd hearing it when I'm pretty used to his deep-almost hypnotic one he has in the future.

I think Mushishi is the only series I've ever watched which used absence of sound as a weapon almost, they really play their cards right with it. Good to have this back, the season is safe with Mushishi airing c:

Perfect episode to reboot the feel of the series with.

Now that was just beautiful - nice to have Mushishi back. It's a shame that there isn't much more to adapt, but I'll still enjoy the season to its fullest (especially since I know the other chapters that are going to be animated). Next week is chapter 48, one that I actually liked a lot.

This was one of the best episodes in the entire series. Easily. Feel sorry for young Ginko being used by other Mushishi as bait, not having a place he belongs. Makes me wish/hope to see how he meets Adashino-sensei.

At last Mushishi is back, but most likely for the last time. You can't know when these stories of Ginko's past will pop-up, however they are always entertaining. Suguro's speech in the end was kinda bittersweet

Best anime is here. Saving the best for last. The Fall season is now complete.

Great start to the season, and as Vexper so eloquently put it, we got to see a different side of Ginko in this episode: frightened and confused like all the other characters we've come to know. No wonder Ginko is so wise.

Definitely felt bad for Ginko at the end, but at least Suguro gave him some reassuring words before he left.

Also, the mountain god reminded me of the great forest spirit from Princess Mononoke.

It's probably going to be 10 episodes and one special like the last cour, due to 12 chapters being left, with 2 of those 12 chapters being a two-parter. They've made a special out of all the previous two-parters as well (and for Mushishi, this really does work the best), so I can imagine it'll be like that again.

It's always so hard to find something insightful to say because everything I thought about while watching the episode has already been said here :) My main thought was that we can now how well Ginko can understand many of those that he had came across in his travels. The one I remember most of the lady who attracts the rain mushi. Ginko's had his fair share of trouble too. But it was a good experience for him, that the natural order told him to go back. It was also good that he met Suguro, because he told Ginko that he has a place in the world too.

So good... I just got done watching the special (basically episode 11-12) and this, yet I still want more.

For a moment I was frightened Ginko would actually purposefully destroy the egg, I'm glad he didn't. Although it's understandable to know why he would have, the Ginko we all got too know and love is far too kind for that.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Ahh nothing like a refreshing Mushishi after a nice bath.
Let’s say you drink too much strawberry milk, and have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. You don’t want to get up, but the urge to urinate is just too strong! You run to the bathroom, stand in front of the toilet, and let loose! You think that all your life has led to this moment! YOU'RE STILL IN BED! That feeling of lukewarm wetness spreads! But you can’t stop! THAT’S THE TRUTH OF THE STRAWBERRY MILK! DO YOU GET IT? ~ Gintoki

This episode was really really interesting, we finally see some more of Ginko's backstory which is quite revelating since we see Ginko in a more weak and human way, he wished for power just like most of people.

At first I thought Sawashiro Miyuki wasn't really suited for young Ginko but I guess I got used to it already. Although Nakano Yuto in my opinion is just unbeatable.

I wonder if we'll ever see the man who helped Ginko again, someday will he forgive Ginko? Beautiful stuff as always anyway, thanks god natural order there is Mushishi.

Always love when they delve into Ginko's backstory. Both this and the episode that explained his appearance and his name are probably my two favorites. There was a serious feeling of tension after he found the egg and dropped it that so many shows try to bring about but Mushishi does effortlessly. Perfect start for this season.

Whaaat. I thought this was seriously the most captivating episode I remember. o.o

Usually the narration and speech irritate me with it's slow-ass dialogue, slow-mo movements and sleep music, but dang I loved this episode.
Especially when he was handling the egg, I just kept thinking about what was going to happen, since he brought about disaster.

Great start to the new season. Hoping it will keep up like this, then it will really captivate me.
