So is the goal here to make them think that the Spy Ange Killed the Actual Princess and Took her place ?

I thought that the Pickpocket was pretending to be Black Lizard pretending to be the Princess. But then I remember that the white coat is supposed to be trapped in the zeppelin. So either Pickpocket had a change of clothes, or they reconciled off screen.

So the time for the lie to come to an end has come then.
To think that command will think that this is the best time for operation changeling though. So it seems that command has never been convinced that princess was really helping them on her own will then. Guess this will be the most important mission of them all then. Ange must really be hurting inside with this mission though. Balancing your job as a spy where orders are absolute and her personal feelings that make her human must be hard. It seems that there is also a third faction that is also going to pose a threat to the girls as well. It looks like control also sent their own men to deal with princess should Ange and her friends not do so then. So Dorothy was removed from her role as team leader then how sad. The number of agents that they sent is truly a lot though. Control intends to surround princess so no help will get to her when she needs it then. I guess with the change in command from intel to the military things will be much different. Breaking up the team is a move that i expected from the military. It seems the new faction is one that even the empire is wary off as well. Its nice that we get to see what Ange's initial personality was when she was still Ange though and from there allow us to see how strong the bond between her and princess is.

Princess's disguise especially her glasses look nice. So Christmas is finally here in this world then. The military's agents sure aren't very good at hiding themselves though. That was a really smart move of Ange in swapping ID's with princess so that she can deal with the watchers. So the gas canisters that Ange prepared were to be used as a smokescreen then. But man seeing such simple tricks work against the military sure was funny. The revelation that Ange had to tell princess must have been hard for her to say though. Its admirable that even now Princess still clings to her wishes and duties even now. Given her convictions i guess its no surprise that Princess will not want to run away. The revelation that Princess hated cleaning up Ange's mess was surprising. So princess is in the center of the unrest within the army then. To think that princess would end up locking Ange in the airship while she goes back and work with the army for operation changeling though. Truly a surprising turn of events. A coup attempt to usurp the queen and replace her with princess eh. This was such an interesting episode that did a great job of setting the scene for the final.

My heart is ready for next weeks episode, but I dont think my head is lol.

So let me try to understand...at the end of the episode the Princess shows up pretending to be Ange, the Spies believe it is Ange and want Ange to take over the Queen and kill her.

Meanwhile The Ange (Black Lizard Planet) Ange is on the boat to Casablanca.

Thats how I understand it. So was Ange and Dorothy's order to kill Princess sent by the head government or these new guys in red coats?

Like there's so much behinds the scenes shit with who's good and evil its mind boggling.

Already ... they admit it looks great!
The question isn't "What anime do you like?" That is merely a list.
The question is "Why do you like it?" That tells a story. Your story.

Unexpected turn of events. Now who is the princess at the end? When Zelda says that the Major felt the same as they about the situation of the country, she wavered, as if not knowing about details. I think the Princess, the one that was in the shoes all along (Ange, Fake) would know the plot, making the doubtful expressions unnecessary. But i can't confirm my theory, might be just a crazy fluctuation in my mind. I just hope the Princess (Ange, Fake) don't die, cause i like her, she's the real Princess for me.

I'm eagering for the next episode.

I've been calling it from the start: the real princess is going to Shirou-Emiya everyone else's ass just to save the real Ange.
In the opening, the real princess catches the real Ange whose falling down, and then proceeds to point a gun at her allies. The foreshadowing is obvious.

I thought it was clear how morally ambiguous this anime was from the start.
Yeah, the main characters I guess you could say are, "good" people, but they are willing to kill other good people like the defector from ep 1.

Things going to be good. Pretty sure the team is going to come back at the end to help. That is obvious but hope they put some twist since that would be very basic. I'm most excited for the war thing, probably won't lead to very far.
But still would be cool to see how a large scale battle will play out in this world.

Great episode overall.

Princess Principal ~ Ange report

It's a recap episode narrated by Ange. She explains who each of the characters are, what they've done in the respective scenes they were featured in and in the last segment, she gave her personal thoughts with regards to her feelings and memories that were brought back up when they were carrying out their mission spying on O'Reilly in Episode 8.

Someone please correct me if im wrong.
So the princess in the end is the fake princess (real Ange the kid from outer wall) and commonwealth spies taught she is Charlotte (real Charlotte the kid from kingdom).
So changeling mission is to discard the fake princess and let the real Charlottte as princess. But in the end, Charlotte dont want kill Ange and be the princess. So ange want to continuing her ambition to be princess.

Stereotypical conflict in this episode ultimately, and because they're just using the "Ange and Charlotte look alike" thing to do whatever they want, it's hard to get invested in this when there's a very easy escape from the situation for both of them; hell, their ability to switch places with ease ultimately gives either of them a way to escape unscathed, and ultimately I'm predicting it's going to be Ange who ultimately sacrifices herself so the Princess can live on unnoticed. Also, I'm betting that Chise and Dorothy have been removed from the picture for now so they can do a Han Solo next week and come in as a deus ex machina when all seems bleak; at the very least, this show honestly doesn't seem to have the guts to kill Dorothy or anyone else in the main cast (other than Ange as a self-sacrifice, as I'm expecting to happen).

Long story short, this episode was executed very well, but it's leaning on such lazy, stereotypical storytelling devices that I can't help but be disappointed by the complete and utter lack of ambition on display here.

In a sea compiled of absolutely worthless light novel/manga adaptations, and rom com harem high school trash that is the essence of the current anime industry, this show lacks ambition and is lazy? What a load of garbage, honestly. Let's give this production staff some god damn credit for actually trying to CREATE something for a change and putting in an effort. There are complaints you can volley at this show, but hacking it for a lack of ambition and laziness is so far off the mark it's borderline embarrassing.
He's complaining about the storytelling devices used, not the production as a whole. He even complimented the execution of the episode. So ultimately, the blame is to the one who wrote the story, not the whole production staff.

I completely understood that he was criticizing the writing. I don't think he was ambiguous in that critique. I replied that it is unfair, given the current climate of the anime industry, to shit on it that hard. I've seen countless anime over the past few years that have lacked any sort of emotion, passion, and care (mostly adaptations, some original). So for all of Princess Principal's flaws (writing included), criticizing it for a lack of ambition and laziness is misguided.

Well, that was exceedingly confusing affair. At least as far as costume changes go. The underlying political turmoil was intriguing as well. I guess the plan to terminate Operation Changeling had something to do with the plot to demolish the wall.

I hope Dorothy is fine.

-man when are we getting more chise
-is zelda a royal retainer or something
-zelda was definitely not sent there as a bodyguard
-ange slippin things into princess's stuff
-wait is that lily with princess
-Jebaited
-"why are there footprints that start from underneath this tree"
-nooo chise don't leave
-huh, that means that ange was about to fuckin jump down into a well before they first met. that's actually pretty fuckin dark
-nice they switched outfits... and hair colors
-oh those were just wigs
-i have a sinking feeling one of them will end up dead by the end of the episode
-oh right rip dorothy
-D E C E I V E T H E W O R L D
-wait i thought zelda thought princess was ange, so when she talks to the royal guard, is zelda talking about actual princess charlotte or the fake one
-wait i think i get it, control was lying to the royal army to get them to rally behind the person who control thinks is real charlotte but is actually the fake charlotte

In the end it looks like (the person the audience knows as) Princess pulled the wool over control's eyes, and she's the only remaining person in the principal group. They never did say what happened to Beatrice this episode, though, so she might appear in the last episode.

So this episode seemed more like setup for the last episode rather than a standalone episode. The spy antics in this episode were pretty toned down, with only the bait message that Ange gave to Princess and the whole switcheroo smoke bomb thing really being able to be classified as "cool spy shit". Also, I didn't realize this my first time watching through the episode, but that little monologue Ange had while setting up the smoke bombs was actually pretty fuckin tragic, in regards to backstory. I do enjoy how the show can revisit old events and put a new spin on the viewer's perception of them like they did with the monologue, but I think that storytelling technique has been severely underutilized in the laster episodes of this show. Nothing else really stood out other than Ange's monologue and the spy moments, though. Mostly that's just because the new conflict between the royal forces and the queen just hasn't had the chance to develop yet.

Doubt they would dispose Dorothy offscreen. Was expecting Ange and Charlotte to change at some point, wasnt expecting them to change back and Charlotte taking Anges place as (fake) princess.

What is it with Jotaro and setting up blonde girls as queen? (If you know what I mean, I think it was airing around that time as well)

This is getting tense and Im glad it is, was getting a bit episodic.

We really got Ange masquerading as Princess Charlotte, who is masquerading as Ange masquerading as Princess Charlotte lmao. Like what Ange mentioned in the beginning, spies lie and I feel like I'm witnessing a hundred lies in this episode alone. Quite the mindtrip if I say so myself, but a good setup for what looks to be an exciting end that could go multiple directions, hope it goes for one that works with the themes and tone of the show rather than just feel like one giant asspull. But overall, this was a good episode despite me feeling like I wanted more from it narrative wise still.

The Principal spy team have come this far...to betray each other. At least that's the intention of Ange and Dorothy when Control warrants the assassination of Princess Charlotte at the haste.

Everything must act like clockwork for Ange if she truly wants to bring Charlotte together on their escape just like their olden days, but with severe surveillance. But it didn't work out, and they can only trust their side.

I was wondering why they didn't immediately shoot up the Princess as she walked in the room. Took me a second to realize she was pretending to be Ange, having completed the mission. Are they going to ask "Ange" why she put on such a show with all the smoke bombs though, as if she legitimately was trying to escape from them (as she was)? I guess it would make sense as it would allow them to lead the Princess to a discreet location to assassinate her. But still.... I'm sure everyone is still wary of "Ange" as of now.

ANYHOW, am definitely expecting an absolute banger to end off the season, fingers crossed.

I was expecting for Ange and Charlotte to swap again, but I wasn't expecting it to happen quite this way! I was thinking Ange might sacrifice herself for the Princess, but I didn't think Princess would take matters into her own hands this way. I can't see Princess's plan working for more than a day at most, but then it'll be interesting to see how control responds: they need a figurehead for the plan, unless they have another heir as a backup.

Ange will definitely escape and come back as well, setting up some kind of showdown/escape/dying together finale. I wonder how the Duke will play this to his advantage.
