Welp this episode took off, literally to the island. Nice sunglasses, Moe

I still find Magata to be an interesting character as if it's almost like she's testing Moe.
Kinda expected mystery to develop on that island though despite the cherry atmosphere. It looks like a case is developing as well. Pacing felt somewhat slow but I liked the developing connection between Moe and Saikawa.

Oh Moe

This episode was pretty slow placed but man that ending was creepy

Moe is starting to grow on me a lot and now I kinda feel bad that her efforts of love aren't working.....I really want to learn more about Dr Magata tho

Was she like in a fucking sexual relationship with her uncle? That is so disgusting lol

Ok, now I have favorite anime of this season, even if visuals are average (or even ugly in some places) , story seems to be very interesting.

This show sure is pretty relaxed with its pacing, which I'm fine with but it could be a problem if it continues for too long, what with the 11 episodes this is going to have. The ending was pretty creepy but did an excellent job at building suspense. It should be interesting to see what happens next.

Getting along nicely.. novel adaptation so i have high hopes for the story... and so far its going well. and boy I wouldn't want to go on a vacation with N... the amt of stuff she brings along...

LOLed at the part "Sensei, i want to see the ocean!" "erm.. its right there"

And the look she gave during the car ride.. (+ the way she held his hand and the revelation that he lied to his wife to spend time with her..) i hope it's not what im thinking... especially since she got rebuffed by her attempt to want to try alcohol..

Cant wait for next week!!

It's only par first week but I'm already so indulged in the OP song. Best one of the season for me. Good ED as well but will take time to get used to I guess.

The pace of this is slow, but it's very engaging and I'm in love with it. A mixed episode of comedic satire and creepiness. The latter part of the episode certainly had a lot of dark vibes to it and tend to take the mature route. Overall this is great, not a whole lot yet revealed but its gradually progressing and doing it extremely well. This is that one genius anime of the season.

That was quite boring but the point of the episode was to introduce all the characters (soon-to-be victims) so there shouldn't be any expectations anyways. Hopefully this anime will pick up the pace from now on.

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

A 13-year old Shiki trying to seduce a married man. Well she is playing a dangerous game.

I'm surprised no one tried to stop the slow-moving cart. Everyone just stood there, even the guards.

I wish I could like Moe more but they made her annoying in the anime... I thought i'd want to see the whole S&M series animated but maybe not as much anymore.

No one tried to stop the cart because they were all in shock, no one has seen her in person for 15 years, she appears in wedding garb and is literally floating across the floor like a ghost (before they realised it was a P1 cart). And, Magata is known as a murderer so they would be afraid to go near.

Even though I knew what was coming, I still got creeped out by that scene.

Im not surprised... its adapted from a novel, so its actually really difficult to do an adaptation without changing the story the way the author intended it to be told, and as always with Mystery themes, it can get boring at times with the immersion in details and character developments/backstories.

Im glad i gave this a go tho. really happy with it so far.

The "Shiki" on the cart looked too stiff to be considered as an actual person, but then it'd be too obvious. Moe might just be right about her being Dr. Magata. The one in the car seemed very perverse; someone you won't normally expect her to be. Not sure if it was the Dr. Magata or her "so called" little sister? Or could she be an AI herself?

Aside from the slow pacing, there aren't much to object about. Too early to say anything at this point.

I don't really get why they didn't just stop the P1 by hand but they were probably too scared. The director seems to have a weird fetish. Seems to be a pedophil masochist or something...

The interaction between Souhei and Moe is pretty awkward.

I don't really get why they made the sister/director scene + Moe/Souhei scene (the one were both wished to see the sea etc.) but I guess that is part of the mystery. It's still weird in a world without supernatural aspects. Or it was a flashback or something...

I guess one more episode to see if it's good enough to put on hold until it's finished.

I loved this episode as much as I loved the first one. We need more mature anime like this.

Great art, atmosphere, build-up, and dynamic between the characters.

The conversations feel more natural than those in the typical, mainstream anime. They're nice to listen to.

The ending was creepy as f**k and unexpected.

Can't wait for next week.

Note that the conversation in the car brought up the girl's age (13).
Magata has been isolated in the lab for 15 years.
The director of the lab left by helicopter, not a car.

There's a lot of details that should be paid attention to.

Wow. This show really feels like a novel now, there's so much thematic development in just two episodes. I'll admit, last week's episode tried too hard to please with all the Platonic philosophy, but this episode nailed it with the parallels between Moe and Shiki, alluding to a doppelgänger.

Both of them are too young to drink alcohol, yet they still drink (Shiki is implied to have). Both of them pursue concubinage of sorts. Both of them have intellects ahead of their age. Both are transgressive.

Not to mention, all the male characters, I would say are equally mysterious. Saikama's pretentious personality may only be a facade, but what's more important now is the fact that he's an incredibly placid character, and is less in control of the conversations, where he is toyed by Moe. Just like Shiki's uncle, Saikawa's merely a receiver to her wishes. This is another implication of a doppelgänger motif.

Though, we need to see more of this to ascertain what the significance of this actually is.

I thought this episode was pretty good throughout, but those law few minutes, as well as the look we had of Magata as a teen, were really something else. I got a chill down my spine at one point. I am very intrigued by this, but it's too soon to tell if the main mystery behind this series will really pay off. I'm hoping it does - it's off to a good start for sure.

I just finished the drama last week, and I agree. Moe seems more spoiled in the anime, although idk which version is closer to the novel. Saikawa was better looking in drama too. I was surprised to see that they went straight to this case when it was the third case in the drama, but a quick search shows that they went in a different order in the drama in comparison to the novels. At the pace they're going at, I wouldn't be surprised if this case takes half the season to finish, and maybe finish it off with the last case? The anime (which led me to the drama) got me very interested in the S&M series, but I guess I would have to learn Japanese to read the whole thing.

I think the anime is doing a great job of setting up the mystery though. Also, Magata coming out of the locked room on P1 was creepy :I

Always easy to tell when a series is a novel adaptation because it's always much more mature (and maybe pretentious, too). Cool episode.

Seems to me the doctor was death or something judging from the fact she didn't move at all while on the cart.
However that cart was used to bring the medicine suggesting that it entered the high security after that.
Which was already at the time the staff wasn't able to enter the room.
In that case the security guards must have seen it enter the room.

Moe feels ridiculously out of place against this more serious cast. We'll wait and see.

Also, the show is a bit direction-less so far. It's spent time introducing characters but we don't really have an idea of what the show itself is about.

It's doing enough to keep me interested though.

A lot it is starting to unravel, but I'm sure there's more to be seen.

-That car scene, you all seem to be distracted by her trying to seduce her uncle. They also said a few things that seemed to hint that the uncle knows about the murder of her parents and what really happened. I'm pretty sure he's driving her to go to the island at that point, or driving her to a safe place.

-There's some link between moe' and shiki besides them both growing up a bit spoiled. Obviously there's a reason she allowed moe' to interview her and come to the island. This is one of the main things I'm wondering about. Wonder if it has anything to do with the sister they mentioned that "wasn't public knowledge"...

I really like this show.
