Well that's it for Kagura and Kyo, I liked her and knew this was gonna happen sooner or later and I'm glad they sunk their ship which never was a thing in a grand way.

Well, another great episode. That talk about the bonds of blood was definitely intriguing and wow, respect to Kagura for taking the courage to make such a confession. Feels bad :(

This has nothing to do with monogamy of polygamy. When you don't love someone, you just don't love them, that's all ^^;

People can say a lot of things with Kagura. But for her to finally confess everything, and Kyo confessing too was a freaking crazy tear flow. I knew it had to come where Kyo would tell Kagura something that he love Tohru. But I guess he may not need to since Kagura knows the obvious.

Kyô promised to himself to not fall in love and to hide the fact that he loves Tohru from everyone, because of Akito's words in episode 9. He thinks that just having Tohru by his side during the time left is enough for him.

I'm so glad to read so much people like it even if they never read the manga or see the first show ! <3

One of my favorite moments from the manga adapted in this episode. I remember crying a lot when Kagura and Kyo came clean about their individual feelings. I remember liking Kagura for the very first time in the manga after this scene. I remember the monologue of Kagura, "The Kyo who stayed by my side until I could stop crying, please be mine alone". I was so moved by this because I myself was going through a situation where I wanted that person to be mine alone for the time we spent together, even though I had to let him go from my life :)

I am happy to have seen this part being animated.

Really beautiful episode but in hindsight I do find it very rushed in this reveal to completely write a new element into Kagara’s character who up till now has come across as a delusional but well meaning girl who has a childish crush on Kyo. That new element ofc being that she only liked him at the start because it made her feel better about herself.

I wish we did get an episode or two about her development or her own interactions to better contextualize her own personality and her relationship with Kyo

It would have definitely made the closure in this episode hit even harder. There was a small moment in this episode where she basically knew all along that things would never last and I feel an episode where she had to learned to live with this reality would have really provided a big emotional boost to moments like that in this episode.

It wasn't rushed.

In Season 1, Episode 4 we got flashbacks to when Kyo and Kagura were children, with him drawing the fried egg in the sand and Kagura smiling and reaching her hand out to him. That episode also gave us some insight into their past. Kagura also mentions Kyo's True Form here before Kyo stops her. Season 1 Episode 23 or 24 (I believe), I can't remember exactly, has Kagura bring up his True Form again and we see a flashback to a smiling and happy Kyo and Kagura heading to the spot where they talk here in today's episode.

Then, in Season 1 Episode 25 we see Kagura being contemplative after the True Form incident. Yuki notes that something seems off with her and we can see that this incident deeply impacted her. The next time we see her is in Season 2 Episode 8, which is when Rin calls out Kagura's forced love for Kyo (she refers to it as a pretend love in the subtitles). We can see that those words hit a nerve and that Kagura is thinking about her relationship with Kyo again.

While outside the series it may seem like a lot of time has passed since the end of season 1, in-series the time between season 1, episode 25 and this episode is probably a couple weeks to a month at best. We also see Kagura looking a bit contemplative at the start of this episode as well.

If the series had divulged too deeply into Kagura's contemplative thoughts, then I feel we would have gotten a lot of repetitve, repeat thoughts to what we seeing her confessing to in this episode and it would have made the scene less impactful overall, imo. We are given enough small hints here and there about Kyo and Kagura's past friendship and history as well as that Kagura is being reflective of Kyo and her relationship with Kyo and then this episode fully expands on that.

Kagura made the realization and has now made it a reality by confessing to it, but that doesn't mean her character is now done and over with. Now she has to live with this new reality and change in relationship dynamic with Kyo.
All those moments are very small and isolated though and they only make sense now that this episode is out, but that doesn't necessarily equate to characterization. It moreso equates to Kagara's emotions being like a puzzle to figure out rather than her being a genuine character. This is why I am saying having an episode that actually focused on her being more than her trope would have done a lot to make this more effective as a concluding arc for her character.

That's how Furuba works though. It's a series that is written in a way that absolutely encourages re-reads and re-watches. I've been a fan of the series for years, I've re-read the manga a number of times, and I *still* pick up on new bits of foreshadowing or "this character was making that sort of face for this reason" type of stuff. Furuba builds up a lot of character moments and plot points through small moments and scenes throughout the entire series. Those scenes become clearer or take on a different meaning upon re-watches and re-reads.

All of the small interactions really matter here and there is a lot of detail consistency found in the manga and a lot of moments and bits of character development and foreshadowing that gets woven into the chapters/episodes of the series as it progresses. A lot of previous episodes that have sometimes been referred to as filler, actually contain a lot of foreshadowing and small lines and moments that pertain to the more overarching plot. Furuba gives you these small moments and bits of foreshadowing to think about, contemplate, and try to form your own conclusions on until you start getting more info and can see the bigger picture.

Of course, Furuba is also a series with a large cast of characters. We tend to get more personal insight on the more main/prominent characters like Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo, but with a lot of the side characters things are often told and left up to interpretation (through visuals like character expressions or body language).

That's not to say this style is always executed well or that it works for everyone (it doesn't for some and that's fine). But this *was* a Kagura focused episode. This was the episode that took all those little moments (another being in Episode 10, when they go on the double date and Kagura asks Kyo if he still doesn't like movies) and brought them together. If there had been another episode that had been like this, then it would have just made this episode feel repetitive.

This style of storytelling largely tends to work for me and Kagura's character growth and arc here don't come off as rushed here. But I do understand where you are coming from, since I do feel that there are a few (more minor) plot lines that always feel a bit rushed to me. Kagura isn't one for me, but I can see how it might be for some others.

Kagura's character is irritating but I can't help but sympathize with her. An unrequited love is never a joke. But she just let it all out anyway even though she knew it's not going to be reciprocated. I commend Kyo for comforting Kagura all the way. I hope this would be its closure then since Kyo and Kagura were both honest about their feelings. I'm wary that Kagura might still be stubborn and showboat her annoying traits.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

Fantastic episode once again. I'm simply amazed with how much Kyou has grown since season 1. Honestly, the episodes focused especially on him (or Kagura in this case, actually) are always between my favorite ones.

Regarding Kagura, until now she was probably my least favorite character. Especially since her only purpose was to be there as element for slapstick comedy so some proper characterization for her was seriously needed and man, I gotta say I absolutely loved the amount of depth her character received this episode. Now I can understand better her absurdly clingy attitude towards Kyou as well as her reasons for being so attracted to a guy who is clearly not interested in her at the same level. Yesterday wo Utatte should really take some serious notes in that regard, by the way.

As for what she did, I can't really blame her honestly. I mean, how many times some of us have sought comfort in the misery of others during hard times? I'm sure I have and although she may have stuck with Kyou for selfish reasons, in the end, she probably was the first ray of light and "acceptance" he experienced in his life. The bases of their relationship weren't perfect but the feeling of being truly loved is something Kyou will always treasure. I'm sure of it.
Okay so now that this matter received proper closure, I wonder if Kagura will stop visiting Kyou and co. for some time. Not that she had much screentime before this tho.

Anyways, leaving that aside, I'm glad to see Tohru is still 100% determined in fighting against the Curse and it also seems that Rin is having the same goal in mind. Wonder if their paths will meet at some point.

So, it seems next episode will be focus on Hatori and most likely, the relationship he has with that woman we saw a few episodes ago. Can't wait for it!

P.S.: By the way, Kyou as a kid f*cking killed me, thank you. Pretty sure my parental instinct kicked in a few times when he talked about his mother "scolding" him.

Nice episode. It was a good moment of reflection from Kagura. I do think it would have been better if we had learned about their past before this reflection because then there would have been buildup. It would have been more satisfying of a resolution to inner conflicts of Kagura that we would have known about for some time rather than learning about them pretty much on the spot.

I just watched it & man, the last part made me cry. I didn't think that Kagura's confession about how she was getting near Kyo for her own selfishness & her love confession to him would make me cry (since I don't support her with Kyo) but it did... Kyo was very sweet for comforting her.... beautiful ep T.T I am looking forward to the next one! What are your thoughts?

Crazy how before this episode, I didn't care much about Kagura, and now I kinda want her to end up with Kyo, even if that's impossible. Hearing about her past and how she ended up developing real feelings for him made me feel really bad for her, especially seeing that last cry for him and how he waited for her to finish crying on him... But of course, we know who Kyo really likes. Yuki x Tohru and Kyo x Kagura would've been my ideal pairings. Honestly, one of my favorite episodes this season. Didn't expect to tear up over a character I previously overlooked.

Poor Kagura had a bad case of "Not-Being-the-Main-Character-itus", so she never really stood a chance at winning Kyo's heart. MC power > AC or DC power.

Not really, you could argue Tohru got her personality and role because she's the MC but Kyou did not choose Tohru just because of her MC status alone. Point is, the specifics of their characters themselves matters, it's not like a harem anime where anything with a hole wants to bang the MC just cuz he's the MC, even though he's just your average Joe loser who has done nothing to deserve the attention.

Kyou finds Kagura to be annoying AF and it's makes sense why he does. Kagura also could not and did not play the role that Tohru does for Kyou, this episode showed that she could had played that role but she blew it. Granted, Tohru is an absolute angel so it isn't really fair to expect her to match Tohru.

Rin needs to chill the fuck out. Tohru is the one to break the curse. Rin is part of the Zodiac, so she can't break out from her place >:3

Kagura's one sided love finally comes to an end. Ofc Kyo-kun has fallen in love with the girl who has pure feelings towards him. Tohru deserves his love. Kagura will meet her mans eventually.

I don't like girls who go violent to guys with no apparent reason. After the flashbacks, I still don't like Kagura! I like Yuki x Tohru before when I watched the original version but now.. I don't like any other guy for Tohru except Kyo!!!

I always feel sad for one side love like in Midori Days manga (I cry a lot for Ayase) but not with Kagura, maybe because I don't like her personality and Ayase done much effort than her. It's sad that her "I love you" is replied back by "thank you" but that's it. Poor her but she doesn't deserve Kyo!

Well, I hated Kagura form day 1 for how irritating she was and how she was always clinging on cat boy (who clearly didn't like her that way), but I can easily sympathize with characters that get rejected after a love confession, plus - like someone said up there - she was one of the fisrt people to show kindness and affection to Kyo, and we can see that he thanks her for it.

I've never felt this happy seeing an anime character getting rejected. I kind of looked forward to seeing this happen ever since Kyo started noticing and understanding his feelings for Tohru. I hate when there's an unsorted love interest in anime, and I'm glad the author gave it a satisfying conclusion.
Kyo looked so mature, and the more I watch the more I think he's the better man for Tohru. He keeps growing and changing for the better. I swear if he doesn't end up with Tohru, I'll be fucking pissed.
