Ok..

Apparently showing murder and death is OK but a guy licking a girl is beyond their limit

Great episode, really had me hooked in and had me tense the whole way through

Nice apples and oranges fallacy, totally not overused or anything. You truly are a scholar thinking for oneself, no doubt about it. Btw, SAO is a battle shonen at core, of course violence will be more expected than sexual assault. It would be the opposite if we were watching a hentai.

What an intense episode. I wasn't expecting that from SAO, even if sexual assaults already happened before in the story. I wonder if this season will have more episodes like ep 10.

This episode marks the final episode where we see rapey antagonists.

According to a discussion thread on reddit

Then I hope we will get interesting antagonists in the future episodes. :3

Oh wait, there's nothing there in their Taboo Index that says against Rape? And their entire Country, world is run by the Axiom Church, hmmm, where have I heard this before? Oh yeah....

Anyways, clap clap, good Episode. Those goddamn guys Raios and other guy deserved to lose an arm or two.

Actually rape is forbidden, it's just the lowlifes found a loophole. Higher nobles can punish lesser Nobles how they see fit, which goes around the Taboo Index I think.
Nevertheless, you are entirely right on the rest.

Damn, they're smart, to think that those "Nobles" actually found this kind of loophole, they must be living the life, well until, you know, their arms got chopped off and now the other one is dead, now I wonder how the one's in the outside world(real world) are looking at this, surely they must have found out that someone has committed the crime that they wanted.

Yeah one is dead and the other will have a hard time playing red hands that's for sure.
Well the way I think it's that there are different Taboos and killing is probably the ultimate one which the real world is looking for, but since the one who killed is Kirito. The outside world won't be interested cause Kirito his human...
Still makes you wonder, if Eugeo who is a good guy went through all that to brake a Taboo now imagine if a nasty guy breakes it too and what crazy shit will he do after in a world full of "sheep".

Can someone tell me why the Alcinization director douche is looking for NPC's with the ability to kill if on episode 1 we watched two of them killing each other in the dark world. Those two don't count for some reason not yet explained?

Best episode ever! Loved how they made Eugeo finally break the law! Wasn't that the whole point of creating Alicization? Of course for Kirito was so easy, he's a real human. I love how for us it's so obvious that they are in an artificial world, with all of their "magic" being just english words and commands and the "error" in Eugeo's eye, yet Eugeo and everyone else but Kirito believe that that is the real world. I can't wait to see what happens next.

To be fair the same could be said about our world too: Do we really know we live in the real world and not in some kind of VR? Maybe we are experiments for the "real" humans as well? This makes you really think, that's why I never saw Eugeo in any way less human

Damn I like SAO but I absolutely despise NTR as much as I hate depictions of abuse of power, specially sexual assault, but I still forced myself to watch this episode for some reason, even knowing it would happen from reading the novel years ago.

Man that raious jump was just plain stupid, it made me even smile a bit for how out of place it was and it ruined an otherwise well executed scene, and by well executed I mean it made me feel bad and infuriated me as fck which I suppose was the intention. I'm glad I didn't watch the raw version first (just saw the comparison on twitter).

The rest was at least not that bad, goddamn bastards got better justice than the so called "Taboo Index" should bring. And it was interesting the way they depicted Eugeo finally breaking the law in favor of his moral beliefs, it was implied that the teacher also experienced something bad in the past and couldn't push herself to do so.

Well at least now this whole nightmare is over and with alice's appearance the show can only improve (unless they throw more ntr shit at us).

Finally reached this episode, I loved the previous ones, they built well enough Eugeo and the world, and with this one they did a great job of showcasing how fucked the laws that this world are constructed upon, are.

Maybe they futher amplified the rapy feeling a bit vs the LN, but this was needed to create the kind of response I can see most people here giving.

Alice is here, and she looks cool in that sweet armor!

Was overseas and stuff, so ended up watching this about 1 week late.

Anyways, that's the end of this arc. I'd say the whole rape thing was a little more convincing than the whole Kirito's flowers coming back to life because he talked to a random woman voice in the air, then convinced the other flowers in the garden to revive his. It's a shame that the 2 nobles never showed any character depth and just felt one dimensional.

As far as what I can take away from the information at the end (and how this entire thing was supposed to be those 2 dudes training AI to break the law for military purposes in the first place), basically breaking the law is the test and these people were never escorted to a prison or executed or anything of the sort. In fact they probably get trained as a knight or warrior or whatever.

Other than that, they took a little too much effort to emphasise blonde noble dude going crazy and glitching the system. Wonder if it's just for extra impact or it's actually some limitation to the system that will be addressed later.
If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

I liked the way they delivered this episode, It showed a character grown comparing this Eugeo to his child counterpart where he couldn't move and save Alice (Not like he could do much anyways) But in this moment he moved by his own will. And seeing how this world works it takes a lot of will to oppose the Axiom church rules, losing an eye in the process. And Kirito comes in just the right moment and stand side by side with Eugeo assuming full responsibility by his side, showing a reliable friend. And Alice is finally here!!

When you want to make murder AIs but make rape AIs instead.

Comparing the censored and uncensored scene it really does look like a pointless change, it really didn't tone it down or anything. Also it confirmed to me that going out of my way to download an uncensored version would have been a waste of time.

Whoa, did not expect this from SAO! I mean it's not the first time things got rapey in this series, but here it was not only that, but also gore with Eugeo's eye blowing up, and him and Kirito cutting villains' arms off, and one of them dying, and later half-naked girls ending up covered in his blood... Pretty hardcore.

Gotta admit, enjoyed this episode a lot, I love my edge every now and then, and here it worked out perfectly <3

And I'm out. This was enough. I tried to push on through and even watched the next episode but just not invested enough to excuse gratuitous use of sexual violence as a plot device to this extent. It was bad enough in the second arc with Asuna. I'm done now.
I'm sure people aren't going to see it as gratituitous and accuse me of being sensitive, but guess what? I'm allowed to not like a thing you like for whatever reason I want, just like you're allowed to continue liking a thing in spite of or even because of the thing that I happen to hate. I'm not posting this to convince you SAO is bad, I'm just telling you all why I've decided it's bad for me. I'm doing this because I know there are people who feel like I do, but when you browse forums there so much in favor of it and shaming of those who hated it, that it can make people think their opinion is wrong or invalid. It isn't.
So, why I find this gratituitous: I get that the purpose of a terrible scene was to push Eugeo over the edge. But the fact is, Eugeo is very easy to anger, just the mention of the fact that one of them made a girl massage him in the bath made him reach for a sword that wasn't there.
You're telling me that the author couldn't have just had those assholes maim a stray cat or dog or that litter of fox things that Eugeo had befriended to make him freak out? Nope. Had to go with sexual violence.
You can say that murdering them for doing such a thing would be extremely, and fine. But quite frankly any offensive action toward a citizen of higher class would violate Eugeo's "programming." The eye thing happened to him as a kid because he was just thinking of attacking an Integrity Knight.
So now also the fact that sex crimes being a thing at all in the Soul Translator shouldn't be a thing based on the own rules set down by the author. The whole point of shoving Kirito into that world in the first place was that the artificial fluctlights wouldn't violate the Taboo Index and kill. But apparently there's loophole where rape is okay ask a punishment for a minor offense? And then murder is okay as a punishment for a major offense? And no one has done this for three hundred years until now? Absolute sloppy bullshit writing as an excuse to rape two teenage girls, and that I find unforgivable and why I'm out.
Thanks for reading.

Wth was happening before he died?? Seems like it's not only Eugeo that has that seal to not break the Taboo Index. We got even more questions to be answered now, but at least we finally get to see Alice. It doesn't seem like a happy reunion though :/ Things are getting interesting...

Another SAO season and another attempted rape that was a bit OTT - but they are inside an artificially created reality after all, so it's not too scary! I must say I found it quite thrilling though, especially coming after the last few training and levelling-up episodes. If my memory serves me correct I'd say that was the most graphic/violent SAO episode to date.

Well i can say i hated the last 2 episodes. Those two nobles were such arrogant and disgusting pigs that would loop their way around the rules because of the position they were in. Absolutely disgusting. I hate characters like that. Simply being assholes to be assholes, first cutting kirito’s flowers and now attempting to rape girls. Fucking disgusting.

And how is that a fair punishment? They are allowed to rape these girls just because they claimed to be offended?? How fucked up is that? Makes absolutely zero sense. And now Kirito and Eugeo are going to be criminals because they stood up for the poor girls. The fucking pigs got what they deserved but they also got Kirito and Eugeo to commit a crime like they wanted them to.

This whole sequence of events was torture to watch and I couldnt stand any minute of it. I cant believe Kirito and Eugeo are actually going to get punished for that. They had a nice relationship with their pages and a goal to reach too, and now it is all ruined because of those repulsive pigs.

Also surprised at how graphic this is getting. This is SAO right? Sheesh. Now Alice is back as an integrity knight? Dont really understand that but im sure they will explain

I'm a fan of SAO to begin with, but they really know how to pull off the visuals and animation for the scenes they want. I had pretty strong feelings with this episode.

I am unsure whether the barrier for Eugeo was psychological or physical, but either way it must have taken a lot of strength to overcome it.

I've always liked Kirito, but Eugeo having more realistic struggles without such committed decision-making as Kirito is very refreshing and inspiring to me.

SO umm...an absolutely fantastic episode. Easily one of SAO's best. This was the Episode that proved Alicization was going to be SAO's best season for sure.

But that damn censorship was so annoying. Why did they feel the need to do that? It was a TV-MA rated episode, no need to censor crap! And I'm talking about the Japanese Dub. The English Dub, don't even get me started on that. They just removed the rape scene entirely!

Does anyone know if the BDRip/ Volume 4 of the BluRay will have this episode censored or uncensored? I assume the rape scene will be brought back but I'm also concerned about the blood.

Will the black patches that were used to cover the gore be removed on the BluRay? Please say yes, I'm so sick and tired of those damn black patches covering all the gory moments of the show!

-That was some fucked up logic by the nobles to justify their actions. Disturbing how there is no law against this kind of act at any level, and now Eugeo and Kirito are criminals.

-That execution was pretty satisfying to watch. Proper punishment paced well and not too fast.

-Alice!!!!!

-Does being damaged like that apply to everyone who goes against the Taboo Index, or was Eugeo just a special case? Hmm.. But how was the Church able to implement that? It's not just a morality system, but a subjugation system that doesn't allow for the particular context of a given situation. Could this Index be a literal area of memory (thinking of indexes in a collection in programming) that pertains to the behavior of all the people who live in that world, and some group had managed to come across it and figured out how to write to it? System exploit. Is the Church's act of enforcement a second layer in case the inherent compelling force that would deter an individual from breaking the Index failed?

This was great episode with even better character developement. I'm just bit annoyed by using the same type of villain (and his snake tongue) over and over again.

Ok, so Kirito basically broke the highest law of this world and killed someone... and Eugeo pretty much attempted the same, breaking the same code. No wonder they had to be removed from the sight right now with the commotion they created (and life-long trauma for both girls who were friend with someone capable of such horrible act).

In every other reality they would be gravely punished but we all know that in this world the ultimate goal is actually to gather all those who can break taboo and create Integrity Knights from them (universal soldiers if you like when giving them body).

The problem I see here is how the situation was settled by Kirito. He basically went against what he said before and solved the situation by violence, he really killed him in the cold blood. It doesn't really matter he probably knew the blong guy is NPC, that doesn't change a thing, he just ended someone's existence. And this should have serious consequences on his behavior, even IRL, I mean, such things change people a lot. Sadly, I fear this series won't dabble in this area. Cause it would be very interesting probe into human psychology to force them do things out of hatred and observe their consequent personality change.

I know, it's very possible the blond guy and his sidekick were planted there intentionally - to actually stir the situation and provoke them to those deeds. But it still doesn't change the fact that the deed was his own doing. I really hope that somewhere down the line Kirito actually realizes he's been being used all the time and tries to battle these emotions.

Seeing Alice again was nice change of pace. Though now one have to wonder how are Integrity Knights going to fix this mess.

Remind me again, who actually enforced those Taboos back then and why that happened?
