Holy smokes, this was one heck of a horrendous and intimidating episode!

Jabami, aka the Savage, literally just crushed and grinded Midari in a brutal manner. Coupled with those priceless set of face expression, this was simply a breathtakingly brilliant episode.

Midari's past, though, was one I wasn't expecting to see. Stabbing her own eye and then offering the other for a match of gambling to which she was clearly definitely going to lose just goes on to prove her insanity. Yikes, it was creepy nonetheless.

On the other hand, it seems as though Maeri has been offended by the President and is looking for revenge. Can't wait to see how that turns out eventually.

P.S. Rating of the show just jumped from a weak 7.5 to a solid 8...

I don't understand... anything that happened in this episode. Here's some questions:

1. Why did Suzui assume cheating was going on at around the halfway mark? Everything looked the same

2. What did flipping both screens do, exactly? Crazy gun lady wanted to lose, how does this accomplish that?

3. At the 21:27 mark, what "trick" did Suzui catch onto? The only "trick" was the screens, were flipped, right? And he didn't even realize that anyways

I assume at the end Yumeko didn't realize Suzui had no idea what was going on, and that retroactively made the gamble exciting for her... but that brings me to

4. Suzui put the cards down randomly on the last round. All parties involved knew this, because of the "hurry up and put them down in 10 seconds" thing. So how did crazy gun lady get them all wrong on purpose? Coincidence?

I just don't. get. any of it. Is this show putting on airs?

Probably the worst episode so far. They're getting to the point where the craziness is getting so over-the-top that it's only coming across as unrealistic and impossible to take seriously. Just weirds me out at this point

Also this felt way too forced writing-wise in terms of the game progression. Having the video feed inverted felt like a rather pointless plot point if the girl wanted to lose anyway considering that it doesn't really affect the chances of winning for any of the involved parties at all, and in the last round all the cards were evidentially distributed out completely at random so having them both conveniently miss every single one of them right when the plot demanded them to like that felt pretty forced

And the high stakes Russian roulette game is back. Hmm seems Yumeko also planned ahead as well as expected of her. So all Midari really seeks from this games is the thrill eh. To think that Midari lost her left eye because it was used to pay her debt though that's actually pretty scary. The backstory into Midari was interesting though. So Midari lost her eye because Kirari wanted to buy her eye to pay her debt eh. But to think that Midari removed her eye herself with that method though. But man Midari really is a psycho in willing to use her eyes to gain more money so that she can gamble. To think it was this that made Kirari invite her to the council though. Having been in that position before its not surprising that Meari will have questions about the livestock system. Nice to see that Yumeko's faith in Suzui is completely eliminating the need for her to be scared though. Midari really wants to prove that they are similar though. Midari really is going into ecstasy from being subjected to this game eh.

So Yumeko realized that the gun had no bullets from the weight alone eh. Faced with Suzui and Yumeko's teamwork Midari resorts to cheating to avoid losing eh. Yumeko's reaction though was surprising. Yumeko's observation skills really are amazing. So that was Midari's plan then eh. Reverse projection eh. So Midari had actually planned to lose in the first place eh. Hmm Yumeko's voice as she demolished Midari's plans though was pretty strong. She must really hate people that try and take all the pain for themselves though. Quite a strong reaction from her actually. Midari really is just suicidal though. Lol Yumeko's cute look will always win against Suzui though. Hmm Yumeko and Suzuki's relationship sure is getting interesting. Meari looks like she intends to get revenge on the president then it seems. Still im glad that this twisted game of Midari's is over though.

So far the craziest episode well for me, the past about gouged out eye, then lives at stake gamble , idk about the manga, but as said by the manga readers of this series, its much crazier in manga. I mean WHAT?! its much crazier, although I felt that this episode is the craziest. :O

Maybe I should read the manga, and though I wonder if they'll adapt the whole manga.

Nah man, she just mad coz Midari intended to lose, cheating is all good for Yumeko (she wants thrill not pure masochism)

What was a very predictable game turns a little interesting bcoz Suzui admitted to not know what was going on and placed the cards randomly

Yah that's what I mean dood, a fair gamble means that everyone has an equal chance of winning and losing, but Ikishima set things up so that she would lose :o Hence, no punishment! Just a scary, pissed off Yumeko...

But in general, I don't really find much of the gambles themselves that interesting so much as the crazy stakes, crazy reactions, and just finding out what the cheat was. I still wish they'd play games that were less "lucky", but it's entertaining anyway ;P

My guess is that she gets more of a thrill of a 50/50 game then what she just went though. So that little bet with Suzui made up for what she just went through.

Honestly I found that to be really awesome, because people with Gambling problems will do what Yumeko did.

This is more or less what i expected this was going to end up as. Yumeko is a gambling junkie; she gets off on the uncertainty and high stakes, putting all the odds outside of the realm of anyone's influence. Up until now she's put every effort into foiling every effort to make deterministic outcomes.

With Midari, she was playing the game so hard to try to lose and fulfill her orgasmic deathwish, turning it into a competition of wits, which pissed Yumeko off, because she wants to gamble not play in some stupid game of wits.

We already know Yumeko is both a detective and strategic powerhouse, and she probably got tired of being able to kick everyone's ass so easily, that she found joy in mutual uncertainty. See, in any competition of intellect, the match is always decided before it begins, based on who has the better mind. Yumeko is almost certain to have a better mind than any of the other potatos at this school, thus she doesn't care.

Midari fucked with Yumeko's chance to gamble by falling on her own sword, for some stupid extreme masochism, and it sickened her, because it defiled the gamble into something not a gamble. Yumeko said like half way through the match that it was certain to end in a draw, because she was completely capable of ensuring it does, proving how deterministic it was.

This.

I'm going to state my unpopular opinion: I actually kinda like Midari in a fucked up kinda way. Insane girls are intriguing, and they did a decent job of portraying a suicidally extreme masochist. I wasn't a fan of her stabbing her own eye though, that was pretty fucked up even for her. Self mutilation and suicide are pretty vastly different.

I'm not a fan of the Kirari's (prez's) kind of psycho, it's too, passive-aggressive. She's just like a normal person with morals flipped ass-backwards contrary to normalcy (clinical psychopathy with a twist). She doesn't have several crucial screws missing like Midari (who's practically bathing in endorphins).

1. Suzui's screen was inverted for the first 2 rounds. So it was reverted back the second round. It was obvious because Yumeko and Midari was now sitting on the opposite side of the table.

2. Agreed. That's why I said
BurningSpirit said:
Can I just point out that in a 5 card matching game, you can put a 5 card pattern out that matches NEITHER of the inverted and non-inverted video feed? I like how they made it such a crucial point, but it's completely irrelevant anyways

The inversion was a stupid gimmick to make it complicated for no reason.

3. Suzui noticed that the screen was inverted, so he wasn't sure to invert his card or stick with it.

4. He didn't go with random, he copied Yumeko's first hand again. He just had to decide if he was going to copy again or invert it, which he went ahead and copied.

She also used the wave card, it's the only card with a symbol that's not symmetrical.

I liked the voice acting and the expressions, definitely well adapted, as well as Midari's flashback.
My only gripe is the pacing of the game, it seems rushed and less intrincate when compared to the manga (actually I felt the same in the previous game to a lesser degree). Since the mind games had much less of a focus, it takes away the tension, thus the game kinda lacked impact. Still, since it's only 12 episodes, I think they've done the best they could.
The upcoming episodes should be a blast though, even if they'll probably be just as rushed.

Actually, the inversion was Midari's method on confirming that Yumeko was the right person for "dominating" her. Had Yumeko not figured out the trick, she would have been worthless for her. Although I guess it was a really easy trick overall, lol.

The point of Yumeko putting 2 bullets in is to ensure Midari would lose on purpose with 0 correct cards. It was explained in the anime that a gun having 2 bullets = 4 empty chambers so Midari thought yeah I'll be getting shot for sure if I missed all 5 cards. I'm pretty sure it was a translation error when Yumeko said "If I had managed to get a card or two right on a whim, there would be a chance of me getting shot." It should have been "If YOU..." correct me if I'm wrong though.
