I agree with the overdramatic drama as the series, especially in S3, really liked to abuse it to point where it becomes very preachy and annoying.
As for me, my biggest issues with MHA as a whole is the worldbuilding. I understand that MHA is a character-driven series but at the same time, the series should not simply ignore the worldbuilding aspects like that to a point where the world in MHA does not matter at all. Stuff like social commentary, world evolution, origins for set quirks/powers and UA High School/Campus life are not properly shown to the viewer at all.

I don't even mind that people like it, but #7 on MAL? Like wow I'm speechless lol.

So if we both agree the quality of the show felt like a 3-4 out of 10 what did you feel from the manga in comparison?

Thank you for your Grand Blue review, 3 episodes in I was stunned at the fact that the series was so insanely hyped up. I'm surrounded by friends that think it's the best comedy in the modern era of anime. I was a few episodes in and it felt like a chore getting through it. I was worried I was alone on this until I came across your review haha

I read from a Twitter mutual that the manga was handled better and it just doesn't work as an anime.. Which could be true, that might help the timings and pacing, but the humor is still about dudes stripping every episode and then getting drunk and I don't see the appeal frankly lol

Indeed. The OP videos were what put Mother’s Basement on the map and when he continues them it tends in range of his better content output.

On a completely different note, here’s a video that suggests while Shrek 2 is NOT a perfect movie, it is a perfect sequel:

I noticed your chart. Some thoughts.

While I didn't watch a lot of his videos, E;R should not be highest tier, the other two earned their spots far more.

He's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too pessimistic and his spiteful videos on Steven Universe and Star Wars feel like unjustified attacks with intentionally provocative thumbnails. If you want to criticize something and not just tip chairs for provocation sake put some f*cking dignity in it and look fairly. Giving off an air of toxicity is almost always a bad thing. Similarly applies to AniSins, who is in the shit tier, as well as channels like Dishonored Wolf, Turkey Tom, EZPZ, more recently Lily Peet, DXFan19, and a couple more.

Everyone else:

BestGuyEver's pretty fun. He's constantly full of high energy, and his 3 hour lecture on Kingdom Hearts came off better than an active actual professor. I don't agree with all of his opinions, some of them plenty, but he presents them well without losing himself. Even his videos like on Fairy Tail and FF15 feelway less toxic and spiteful than some people would make them.

Gigguk's pretty cool. Sometimes his videos (mainly the "in minutes" series) are laugh out loud hilarious and sometimes they are just plain funny. Should stay in B tier.

MattWhiz has some pretty fun videos from time to time. Arkada's right in the borderline where he should be. He does just enough well to not set off alarm bells even while pretty much being on the line for obvious likes and dislikes. But he laid the groundwork and has some great reviews for anime newbies.

Digibro there but down? Makes sense and yup. His SSY video especially puts him far down.

Canipa Effect is there for some neat lookup videos but not really an opinion guy. Still, he presents his sources well and the editing does the job. Anime America I at least appreciate for being a group of people rather than one voice. It really adds to reviews when multiple people are talking. But I haven't been to their channel in quite a while for anything interesting.

Yeah...RPG Monger, Misty and EmberReviews are properly placed. Not that it's literally devoid of anything, but the first of these, tends to pidgeonhole himself into "fandom horror stories" which isn't really that informative. Plus his Avatar animations are pretty standard. Misty is Misty, and EmberReviews doesn't do much for me at all.

Tokyosarus I don't even count. He's a NEWS channel, not an opinion one. Like how Did you Know Anime is basically just a development history channel copying DYKG Seeing his videos I'm less concerned about him and more whatever news he brings regarding Japan, which I actually do like.

Explanation Point gets props for editing, even if his content is all over the map.

AniSins is about as terrible at criticizing SAO as Xoh was defending it, and I say that giving the series a mediocre 5/10. The former also yelled and screamed WAY too much, while the latter was basically begging for an editor and microphone. I don't think Mother's Basement is that bad as either of these two, but he put himself in holding pattern WAY too much. All his constant "SAO is the worst" "SAO is the worst" videos do is ironically make me turn the other way. The survival guide videos are sometimes neat but aside from that and the OP ones he's basically just rolling.

Hey, Ando. I finished reading Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" (if you recall, we talked about it a while back). I can see now why you weren't too impressed by it. The principles and tactics Tzu discusses were most likely unheard-of back then but nowadays it's common knowledge. The Art of War is an interesting look into the period where it was written but it doesn't offer much beyond that.

Also...after reading your total sophistry on Grand Blue, I've decided to report all your reviews and hopefully moderators here can ban you from writing reviews here ever again ;)
SunlitSonata Oct 17, 6:24 PM
I suppose so.

Also, my cousin made a fun analogy after talking about the first episode of the new SAO season.
Remember that giant tree that they everyone routinely took turns whacking hundreds of times per day even though it was still standing and growing strong? The axe swings represent the haters and the tree is the franchise's continued success.

Man, Mysterio looked so good right now. Definitely best shape I've seen him.

Smackdown 1000 was solid although I wish The Rock showed up. Oh well. We got a tease between Batista vs Triple H next year which I would definitely watch.
