For me I wouldn't root for it, I like my fanservice subtle. One pet peev of mine when I was watching Highschool of the Dead was the fanservice. I hate when they ruin a great story with fanservice. That being said. I don't have anything against it, but in moderation. I don't want every ep being about tits or a beach episode. But it does really depend what I watch. |

Ehh if anime isn't tagged as ecchi then I usually don't want it to have too much sexual fanservice, because it often seems random and out of place. Pretty much destroys the mood for me. There are exceptions like KonoSuba and TTGL, but it's pretty rare. |

N E W S F L A S H Scientist discovered that different people like different things. More at 11. I personally don't oppose fanservice, but 90% of the time it's just done so horribly immature it hurts to watch. Your profile pic is a perfect example of how not to do fanservice: Hurhur the guy is grabbing her boobs and it makes weird noises hahahaha!!! FUNNY!! That is what I want from MY entertainment!! I don't dislike fanservice. I dislike fanservice that insults my intelligence. What I also dislike is the fact that most anime has to make a big deal out of their fanservice (or other skinship in general). They don't even act remotely human. And if the characters act like characters and not like human beings I'm not gonna care about anything happening with/to them on screen. Another example would be the countless "running in on a girl changing" or "falling and landing an girls breast" scenes. You'd imagine normal people to be embarassed and get off the girl/close the door as fast as possible and apologize (even if the boy did nothing wrong). They might be embarassed after the accident and the following conversations could be interesting BUT FUCKING NO SLAP THAT FUCKER! FUNNY!!! I just want to not feel insulted when looking at anime tiddies man. |

Ecchi isn't the problem really. Anime just relies on it too much to gain notoriety and money, which means the plot accompanying that anime usually sucks ass. People hate ecchi because of reinforcement. They have a negative reaction to it because of the negative feelings of how shitty the anime itself is. |

It can be quite distracting and annoying. Sexual Fanservice isn't the only thing that can be bad in something. FMAB is a perfect example of comedy done wrong in a ton of cases. And while I dislike both bad comedy and annoying fanservice. Sometimes I just have to learn to ignore it or miss out on something great. |

depends on how much Fan service it has (yet, Fan service doesn't allways mean Girls with almost no clothes) there are times that is out of control and just backfires (I.E Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai) In my opinion, Fanservice isn't bad, after all is a method to bring up attention in order to sell, but sometimes some studios overuse it to the point of having nonsensical fanservice (take Dragon Ball Super for example) |

apparently some people tend to lose focus the instant they see tits and ass or w/e.. i don't understand why people like to tell people like me i have no self control, yet the instant boobs fill the screen they can't concentrate on anything else seriously? and im the one with the issue? and why do people keep saying "i don't like fanservice in serious anime"? if the anime is full of fanservice then the show probably was never intended to be serious why do people act like just because a show has death, gore, violence and drama that that means a show is supposed to be serious? oh and lastly.. some people need to understand that some people have different fetishes.. some people are more turned on by scenes they don't see coming, sexy fight scenes surprise factor is key for many peoples fetishes, so that includes putting in boobs during dark moments i've NEVER found ecchi distracting or "out of place", that was something i'd never even considered for all this long ass time i've been watching anime, so im still baffled by people not accepting that japan does not care, and will show of their perversion however the fuck they want fuyuki said: Ehh if anime isn't tagged as ecchi then I usually don't want it to have too much sexual fanservice, because it often seems random and out of place. It's always a scenario-based thing here. For anything, I don't generally like any weird swimsuit shots or anything popsicle related. But for the sake of comedy, I would still support Tadakuni cross-dressing like an otaku pervert. Plus it ruins it all if you're gonna focus on weird places instead of the plot, it'll just turn both morally and mentally wrong. |

İ love fanservice and mostly its a good thing but i think there is a thing as "too much fanservice" İts depends on show some shows might ok with unlimited fanservice but some shows tries to get into serious plot or some drama but they ruin your mood for these seriousness and drama already with over doing fanservice and ecchi. Depending on genre problem is amount in my opinion. |

I posted this in another thread recently, but my main gripe with it is that it's just shallow content. There's not even a modicum of depth to any of it. It's just pantsu shots, jiggly boobs/butts, and perhaps some dirty dialogue. That stuff is all fine, but when that's the MAIN THING a show is focusing on, I just think "Really? This is all this show has to offer? This is so boring!" Shows like Prison School do it right. an OVA like Gunbuster does it right. Where the sexual stuff is present, perhaps even in large amounts, but it's not the main focus of the show, and the anime has more to offer aside from that, such as an interesting story, interesting characters, etc. A show can't just hang it's hat on tits & ass. |

It really depends on the anime. I've seen a couple of fanservice/ecchi animes; at first I didn't like them. Now, through the years, I'm getting used to them. If they put way too much fanservice in a show, I'll immediately drop the series. Mostly, I am cautious of what ecchi animes are out there to watch or any animes that have fanservice in them. |

Like others have said it depends on the anime. Sometimes it lowers the anime for me (like Highschool of the Dead) because other elements of the show are far more interesting. But instead of relying on those, it goes to fan service instead which isn't the interesting or best part of the show, or even needed. Other times it helps to keep the anime good through its use, by being comedic in nature like in slice of life type anime, which keeps the show entertaining. While sometimes its just the centrepiece of the anime (High school DxD). |

am i really one of the few people who think fanservice always makes anime better? well shit lol its hard not to believe that at least some people are just jumping to the safe spot answer of "it depends", just so they don't come off as "too perverted" where are the shameless people who enjoy perversion being shown in any form and don't care what people think of it? cause its hard not to believe that at least some people are just jumping to the safe spot answer of "it depends", so they don't come off as "too perverted" much of the gripe people have with sexual fanservice is rooted in the "trying to make people horny is bad" mentality that society has, so i really wonder if people would still complain if society didn't think that way, and just instead embraced perversion, since pretending not to be perverted doesn't mean you're gonna having those hormones |

I don't really care if there's Ecchi in some anime but a lot of times it can completely take over a series. Like Food Wars! I just finished up Food Wars and there was just so much unnecessary Ecchi. The first couple of episodes it was funny, I'll admit that, but the rest of the series kept repeating the same thing over and over. > Girl/Guy eats food > Cloths burst off because it taste good > Proceed to sexually moan for 5 minutes Reused jokes are the worst jokes IMO Oh and Highschool of the dead? Let's see, they tried to make it a action/horror/survival but it failed. You can have a badass fight when some girls titties are flopping around every other frame. Oh and Elfin Lied! They tried to make a crazy psychological horror series that made you question the very foundation of what makes a human, human. It tried to be super serious and edgy with the murder, blood and guts, and sophisticated soundtrack but this is what we got: These are just a few examples off the top of my head. I'm sure there are 100s more. Oh and p.s I'm not hating on anyone who likes this stuff, I'm just pointing out that a lot of times Ecchi can kill the atmosphere and plot. |

The majority of Ecchi can lead to a lot of tone shifts and awkwardness in a series and have a major impact on the story and characters. If you want to try and write a story that revolves around naked girls and perversion then go for it. As long as the writer has a foundation in mind and sticks to it then you'll get a story worth viewing. My problem with a lot of writers is that they try and cater to everyone. A great example of how to write a story would be Game of Thrones. George started the story with the mindset that it would appeal to people who like Fantasy/Drama/and tragedy. He didn't try and add romantic comedy tropes or throw in a season that revolved around sports. He knew what kind of story he wanted to make and stuck to it, and look, it payed off! |

Because in the majority of anime the "fanservice" or ecchi is just unnecessary over-sexualization of the female characters. I don't always want to see 2D animated drawings' disproportionate boobs flopping about in my face or their frilly underwear. And a lot of times, during those scenes, the female characters are written to act completely embarrassed, shy or flustered about it. And just personally it makes me, as a girl, uncomfortable. And male fanservice is what? chests and butts? Unless a show is explicitly tagged as ecchi (in which case it's appealing to a targeted audience) then the anime shouldn't and doesn't need it. But it's included anyway in a lot of shows. And it just doesn't add anything to the plot. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with it though, or with ppl who enjoy it. But if I really wanted to see naked bouncing tits, I prefer the real thing. |
Anime was the catalyst of my life's downward spiral. Joining MAL was the nail in my coffin. Every day I keep screaming into the void, but god just tells me to shut up. |

I dislike the ecchi in FT and Nanatsu no Taizai for the same reason I dislike the comedy in Bungou Stray Dogs, not necessarily because it is ecchi bu because it creates a scene that is disconnected from the show where characters act differently not because of their personality but just for the sake of comedy. However some shows manage to make it work and blend both together as different traits of the same character or different aspects of the same show like GTO's Onizuka, Hyouge Mono's Furuta, Dash! Kappei and even JoJo. Regarding ecchi I think Prison school's manga does a pretty good job and while Shokugeki no Souma does motivate its ecchi, most of it became repetitive and now it's just about showing different characters like the overly cherished Rindou. |
