THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Four episodes in and I'm still impressed. It seems Ran had a vision of the doctor being dead and of Ichise. I'm not sure if he just killed her or if that's from the future, I think Ran could only tell the immediate future so I think it's the former.

Ran doesnt see the immediate future exactly, all she sees is a possibility
i think shinji is running some kind of revolt or uprising against organo
i believe the scientist lady who kept talking of lufia or whatever was speaking on the phone to the leader guy of organo
wonder what the relationships are between all these people

this is looking like a great series with alot of depth.
cant wait to watch the next episode!

Her name is Doc and I think you're talking of rafia? Its what allowed human bodies to accept texhnolyzed limbs from what I understand. Also from what I understand Organo controls the texhnolyzation operation. I read all that on the anime homepage.

... I'm watching this on DVD from Netflix so I was able to watch the interview with Ueda and ABe. I didn't know it was so deliberately about the yakuza. I finally wrote the characters names down. Was Shinji the one who ordered the attack on Ichise?

Good episode, answering some of the more important questions.
Still not sure how are Ichise limbs different than any others, but I'm sure we will find out. :)

Also, It seems Ichise father was related to Organo and the development of artificial limbs somehow.

Did the doctor really die? I thought she collapsed because her test subject ran away unexpectedly.

Even if I didn't ask for artificial limbs, I'd at least like to keep them.
I have zero balance as is, and even if it's government/organization controlled, I'd utilize it until I could get something better.

And now by banging that arm against the table he may be abusing his mother. Three women so far. Breathing heavy, beating women, and falling down are this man's hobbies. And I like him.

Another good episode. Things are making more and more sense. Coming together nicely. Great character development, even with little dialogue. That's always impressive.

The scene were the doctor presses her naked torso against Ichise was strangely powerful. And the Organo leader doesn't need to do booty calls because his cute driver takes care of his carnal needs.

In all seriousness now, this is a damned good series. Atmosphere, music, story, intriguigin characters, it has it all.

Did he just kill the doctor? Now what is he going to do . . . Anyways I thought the technology he got would be some newer and better version, but I am guessing it either was and she was hiding it, or more likely it wasn't.

Hmm interesting anime, compared to the first episode where they talk once in the whole episode. These last few episodes were nicer. Still little talk but everything is understandable and no chat is required. As a side note: I do feel like this is a strange anime but then again it's from 2003, at the same time I find it interesting so I will finish this one too :).

I suppose, the black magic phase was just unnecessary. It is apparent that Ran will be deeply involved with Ichise and his future actions as he takes vengeance (likely) on his enemies. Seeing the fact that Yoshii will not be a main character; I wonder what will his role be from now on. A three-pronged formation in a dystopian setting - something different from the norm, at least. Organo as the main organisation, the Union opposition who go against Texhnolyzation, and the resistance led by the mysterious 'Shinji'.

Thanks to the slow pace of this anime, details are easily picked up (by me, at least) as compared to the spiritual prequel Lain. Nothing is severely confusing in Texhnolyze, only foreshadowing and further foreshadowing, couple by intense imageries. Only hoping that it would not end up as expected, or else 22 episodes would be boring.

Geez, I don't get it.
So, the doctor lady seduced him, and likely had sex with him for no reason.
Then he says "why are you doing this for me?" as if to be thankful...
and then at the end he gets upset and attacks her.
I can't figure out the main character's motivations or emotions whatsoever.

Meanwhile, I still don't know what's up with the mustache dude. He's just wandering around and getting himself in trouble, and they haven't told us what his motivations are yet, so everything he does seems pointless.

Also, it took a full four episode for the main character to get these limbs? Talk about moving at a snail's pace.

i think ichise is angry for having the arm and leg, because as the doc said, his father was involved with it. Witch means that they represent his dead parents, and maybe, this is me guessing, the reason they died.

I wanna know what about this guy got 2 important ladies wanting to have sex with him. Similar to episode 1, he obviously didnt really care for the sex and is like a lifeless puppet. I hope this is gets explained because right about know it seems so random.

1st lady was his boss's girlfriend, and like the doctor it was likely her that initiated the encounter because why not.

Interesting but lost at this point. I've got patience to see what happens but I think its losing my wifu's attention which would be a shame because I like watching anime with her. We are both into SciFi and this looks like it has a cyberpunk flavor to it. Just hope it picks up or starts filling in some of the gaps.

Did she actually have sex with him? I was wondering what that was about lol.

Like, obviously that's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure if she was actually doing something else. But judging by everyone else's reaction here and this quote...

...I guess they did indeed have sex. Yippee!

Anyways... another intriguing episode. There was some sort of cult, two implied sex scenes, a gang, and Yoshi taking down those thugs with his Texhnolyzed arm. Hell yeah

Nice episode, we got more details about Raffia and how it's supporting the Texhnolyze and some taste of Yoshiis fighting skills.

But I wonder what he meant when one of the thieves was identifying his arm as Tex and he just said "That would be nice". Seems like to be something different, maybe a predecessor model.

The guy is empty, nothing whatsoever. And this whole story is nothing. It's a story of nothingness, and pointlessness.
And still, Bill will live on.
He will befriend the next inhabitants of the earth, beings of light who revere him as a god.
And Bill will outlive them all... for millions and millions of years...exploring, learning, living,
until the earth is swallowed beneath his feet.
Until the sun is long since gone.
Until time loses all meaning and the moment comes that he knows only the positions of the stars
and sees them whether his eyes are closed or open.
Until he forgets his name and the place where he'd once come from.
He lives and he lives until all of the lights go out.

Same question here. Even after a rewatch I still don't understand why Yoshii says here he isn't texhnolyzed, because obviously, it seems he is.
I hope I will be able to understand someday, I don't think it was a mistake.

Edit : probably just a different technology than texholyze, a technology of the surface, but still not very satisfying

That part when the doctor explained some things about how it kinda works, I had to google some terms since I'm not all too familiar with scientific english terms. But if I understand it correctly, raffia can cause organs, grown by tissue, to work on the human body?

Ergo Proxy , Lain , Haibane Renmei and Texhnolyze.
All of these works are mostly done by same people and they have same kind of aura around them. Really fascinating and beautiful aesthetics , but sometimes too pseudo deep.
Pacing is fine tbh.
