A very short Gun x Sword.

Maybe Bear Walken was his only one kind enemy?

Again Brandon seems to win too easily for my liking. Bear Walken was the only decent man left in Millennion though so it was sad to see him die.

Sad , very sad. Rest in peace , Bear Walken !

That's right , the fight was way too short. Should've been much longer.

With this episode, the series returned to form. And it stayed great, all the way until the end.

Bear was always hard to dislike because everything he did was for the happiness of his daughter. As the memory montage at the end highlighted, he'd already seen Sherry suffer once when her mother died and he just couldn't bring himself to see her suffer again. He was disloyal to Big Daddy but a wonderful dad - willing to give up everything if it meant his daughter could be with the man she loved. It made my eyes water a little.

The battle itself wasn't great and was over before it started, but - in spite of being an adaptation of a mindless shoot 'em up - Gungrave was always more of a crime drama than an action series. It only became action-packed when the game content was covered, so I never minded all of the fights apart from Bunji's sucking.

Bear Walken, a real man who would anything for his daughter including betraying his roots. I had a hard time watching him as a Superior, but I guess if he thought that would help keep Harry alive he would have done it.

Am I the only one who felt that Mika's words to Grave were an invitation to take her mothers place in his heart? I hope not.

Grave should just accept Mika and go with her.

Well I have to say, Bear was one of the characters I did like in the show. But since he became a psycho just like the other guys who joined Harry suits him right.

Yeah and there goes Bear, he should have grabbed Brandon's left hand, no idea why he grabbed both his legs. Oh and Brandon talked.

that was really sad, bear was the guy was really hoping would survive the series but sadly he was too attatched to his daughter to betray someone like harry even though hes fully aware of just how corrupt harry is

id say this is one of the best episodes in the series, the clipshow of bear raising his daughter was tearjerking with the song playing with it being top notch

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

I totally didn't except Bear to be a superior, and while the fight itself wasn't the greatest it did have a lot of emotion's behind it.

So now we got floating hands controlled by the Superior's mind or something. Bear Walken's character was ruined the moment they had him give his daughter to Harry.

Unfortunate Bear had to die. He was one of the characters I liked. The mom was a milf.

I think I mentioned it already, but it's ridicious how these episodes vary in quality. From an admittedly entertaining edge fest to emphasis on a somber tone just like that.

Bear was a cool guy him and him dwelling on that incident with Sid was a nice touch, really felt that. Same goes for the flashbacks of the time with Sherry.

This. Bear was a good guy, and then turned his back on everything he believed in. Only appropriate that he was killed. Hopefully now we don't have to see Bear's daughter anymore.

Does Mika love Grave then? If so, I think she's a potential better partner for him than Maria ever was — partially because she didn't disregard him to bang an elderly mob boss, but also because she's up for travelling with him no matter where he goes. She even practiced shooting earlier in the anime, which is a useful skill to have against anything less than a Superior or Orgman.

Bear could've been a respectable opponent if he was someone who was only loyal to Millennion, but he instead pledged himself to be an eternal flunkey of Harry's, solely because of a one-time decision he made by evaluating him with "his eyes" years ago. If your intuition can't even deduce the true character of someone as transparent as Harry, then what use is it really?

I know Bear did what he did for his daughter, but dude! Not cool. He should have just taken his foolish daughter and left. No need to let her be Harry's hostage.

This anime won't have a happy ending, will it?

Poor Bear Walken~

Gotta say, I'm really not a fan of the "Anti-Superior bullets." Feels like the studio just came up with a cheap way to weasel out of animating an action scene. I mean, we already know from the fight with Bob Poundmax that Superiors can be killed with normal bullets.
