FLCL

Naota Nandaba is an ordinary sixth grader living in a city where nothing amazing ever seems to happen. After his brother Tasuku leaves town to play baseball in America, Naota takes it upon himself to look after everything Tasuku left behind—from his top bunk bed to his ex-girlfriend Mamimi Samejima, who hasn't stopped clinging to Naota since Tasuku left.

Little does Naota know, however, that his mundane existence is on the verge of being changed forever: enter Haruko Haruhara, a Vespa-riding, bass guitar-wielding, pink-haired psychopath whose first encounter with Naota leaves him with tire tracks on his back and a giant horn on his head. Though all he wants is some peace and quiet, when Haruko takes up residence at his parents' home, Naota finds himself dragged into the heart of the greatest battle for supremacy that Earth—and quite possibly the entire universe—has ever seen.

FLCL was a literally a masterpiece, it was so unique, so goofy, so brainrot, I loved it. Animation and soundtracks are the best thing this anime has to offer, the songs perfectly matched the vibe of the show. There are so many Japanese references which are like so hard to catch (for me) and you can notice that Gainax team really did a great job with those Manga panels sequences. Every episode was so fast paced and chaotic which made this 6 ep anime look better than some of the other 24 ep animes out there (Better than NGE). I don't think I will see ... an anime like this ever again.
Haruko carried this whole anime W character.

Mixed Feelings

FLCL was truly ahead of it's time with both animation, but also creativity shown throughout just 6 episodes.

I will still be leaving it on mixed feelings as it might not really be for everyone, but it is without a doubt worth a watch solely for the classical feel.

I had such a hate love relationship with the overall crazines that was taking place with the switching from anime to manga panel was great but went on for faaar too long. Also really enjoyed that they could dwell into deeper meanings about growing up and struggling to find yourself and feeling stuck in a single place.

But ... as i said, if you are a person that can't really handle overstimulating craizines in anime, this one is not for you!
Mainly why i give it a seven is cause they could've gone into more depth with characters and also toned down the creativity to some extent. It was still an enjoyable watch that aged well into today's anime adaptation, still think the story itself could've been made better but the anime without a doubt elevated the source material.

Bonus points for the insanely good music!

To describe this anime to any sane person would make it seem like you’re high on crack, acid, dmt and horse tranquilizers all at once . The plot is either non existent or so dumb it makes slapstick comedy look like Shakespeare. The writing team must have been the people behind the infinite monkey theory trying to write out a masterpiece. It makes no sense, the comedy doesn’t land, the writing is fluctuates between terrible and actively gives you an aneurism. I can’t complain about the art style the visuals are fine and unique. For it being a comedy anime and comedy being subjective I ... understand some may find this funny but I legitimately don’t think anyone with an iq above room temperature could understand this or even enjoy it. This might be the original brain rot content. I watched the entirety of the show in one sitting and with each episode I felt brain cells dying. The description of the show is coherent, the show itself is not. Op and Ed are pretty good songs though. Long story short either I’m missing something or it’s dog shit
