I finished it yesterday, I saw everything at once and all I have to say is "Insane" - certainly the best word to describe this whole series.

Of all things that can be said about FLCL "normal" is not one of them. XD

The ending was... meh, but the anime was truly epic and incredibly hilarious. It would have been better if they went together to space >.<

Do you need to FULLY understand a visual/graphical story to be entertained and amused by it? No.

This was the most refreshing and inventive piece of media I've seen in a very long time and a hilarious, fast-paced and chaotic one at that. Not to mention a superb soundtrack and overall production values, funny (and literally invencible) characters, other works and franchises references and parodies and a lot of "hidden" sex jokes/puns.

Definitely an anime... and original, wild, daring piece of pure entertainment... to remember, rewatch, find new details and be be amused everytime.

I really enjoyed Furi Kuri, it was short and sweet. As for what actually happened, I completely agree with acdc123's summary of the plot... that's what I drew from this series.

In all honesty, I thought that was fairly easy to understand... but I guess when people are getting off on One Piece, subtleties are hard to grasp.

The ending seemed kinda lacking something, but it was Ok, just not the kind of sad or happy ending or anything, 4/5

And for the whole anime 8/10, it's really well made, but I'm not that into it, I think I should read the manga

from the story, imo. Thats why it doesnt have a "resolved feeling" to it.

Can't agree here. I think it emphasized that Naota IS really a kid. Yes, he wanted to grow up and be acknowledged as an adult, but in reality, he still is a kid. That's why in the end, both Haruko and Mamimi leave him and he's finally free from being torn between those two stages (being a child and being an adult). In the end, he's left in the stage in-between to begin growing up for real.

I guess...xD" Might be totally wrong though.

I don't think that you're wrong. You made a really good point.

FLCL gets 8/10.

To clear some things up:

First of all, I've known this anime for like 6 or 7 years now. It was the first I ever watched and will be my favorite one for all time. I've rewatched this thing probably like 100 times since I have the DVDs, and it obviously seems that a lot of you need some explanations on what the heck this show is about. There are two meanings to it

1) Metaphorical meaning - This show is all about the experiences of beginning male puberty and understanding your feelings. Try to rewatch the series without even paying attention to the Medical Mechanica bull crap. Throughout the show, Naota gains knowledge of his feelings towards either Mamimi and Haru. Think of a couple things, he can teleport shit through his head (he's so confused about what's going on it feels like his brain is absent) and also the whole transforming into a cannon (it looks like a dick and balls). There's hints of this kinda stuff throughout the series.

2) Literal Meaning - Basically, medical mechanica is a ruling power in the universe that is trying to take over planets for expanding their empire. The iron in the town is the prison for the pirate Admisk which they had captured for trying to destroy them. Through hitting Naota in the head with her guitar, Haru learns about Naota being able to support an end point teleporter in his head. The things that come out of Naota's head are basically prisoners of medical mechanica.Through this portal, Haru attempts at releasing Admisk from his prison. At the end, he is finally released by Naota but escapes into outer space, which is why Haru leaves.

This series only really pissed me off because Naota doesn't end up with either Mamimi or Haru!!!! But you can obviously see by the end, Naota finally understands the feelings he's going through and will probably end up being with Ninamori.

All in all, show gets a 10/10 from me, and that'll never change.
Hope this helps yall =)

Ta-kun, the dog was .... very hungry :)
Well... in some episode, when he was in hospital(or something like that), Harahu said about his disease - furikuri....
So after knowing its meaning .... this make sense :)

Fucking genius. I loved it. I finally was able to understand the metaphorical meaning behind all this. At first, it kinda sucked that both Haru and Mamimi left Naota, but it makes sense since that's the way he'll start growing into an adult. One of my favorite anime, it gets a 10/10 out of me.

I absolutely loved the whole series, though I did initially drop it after just two eps. The fault was in my mood/mindset.

This is the greatest and most metaphorically, symbolistically, emotionally significant anime that I've ever seen!

Btw, about Naota not ending up with Haru... well, I sorta figured Haru was a symbol for a rebellious youth, while the middle-aged guy was adult-hood and... well, basically I viewed half of them characters as metaphors. So all the stuff there makes perfect sense when not viewed in some naive "all-I-understand-are-facts-and-realism" mode ;)

Though I didn't explicitly handle many of them symbols, absolutely all of it was significant and meaningful (at least emotionally-implicitly)...

This was... different, in an unpleasant way, that is. I got this series recommended by a friend of mine but I still have no idea why. The manga-part again I didn't find enjoyable. I actually didn't like this anime, ep 5 was nice and ep 2 was okay but this last ep was, aside from the first 15 minutes or so, near to great. The confession was really cute and the ending was fine I guess.

While the show as a whole was interesting, and some of it was laugh out loud funny, in the end I found it depressing for several reasons.

I hope Mamimi finds what she's looking for.

Good anime overrall, confusing as expected, but I don't watch animes for clarity and enlightment. I think the 6 episodes represent that it doesn't matter how much you struggle against the world, it's going to win in the end anyway.

I thought it was nice at the end when they showed that scene with Ninamori giving her beverage to Naota. It showed how he had moved on yet he still had his picky tastes.

The character of Mamimi seemed really depressing, I think at the end when she moved out of town it signified her growing up too.

For those who didn't understand everything. Read all the character descriptions from this site. It really clears a lot things up. http://myanimelist.net/anime/227/FLCL/characters

Side note: Amazing OST

If you really want to fit in, just put Legend of the Galactic Heroes in your top 5 and have it be the only 10-rated anime in your list.
