@Omarumba This is true, but since no specific roles were officially announced this time, I wondered if my guess was correct. I'm still very salty about the plot of the show itself and wouldn't be surprised if people just voted for VA of favorite character (although I am pleased with how much attention continues to receive Guel), but Suletta, Guel and Prospera themselves were really great voice acting performances.

@RobertBobert I think being in Gundam is one of the reasons why Kana won the award. She was really good, and Kana is a good seiyuu in general. You can see it in her other work.

@Omarumba So, do you think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say that she won the award only or mainly for G-WItch? Not a big fan of the character, but her role was really well played (however, if you think about it, counting Noto and Youhei, she is not the only one here who played well in this show).

@RobertBobert Maki Shijou, Yuzuriha Ogawa, Miku Suride.

And a lot of minor roles.

@BerriesSan I don't know why you think this year wasn't the best, but it all depends on what you consider "stacked". This year saw the premiere of the first Gundam in a long time and with the first female character in the franchise, an excellent musical CGDCT, a big premiere of an adaptations of a hugely popular mangas starring a new names, etc. Also, a veteran like Mamiko Noto gave one of the best performances of her career. And these are only female VAs.

So, Kana-chan actually received an award directly for Suletta? I don't remember her other notable roles during this specified period. That's fine, though, considering how well-known show and good voicing of a particular character have allowed VA to win this award in the past.

Also, I just now realized that Tomori and Anna are voiced by the same actress. Good range.

Kei Tomiyama Award
Kazue Takahashi Award
These two awards are mixed into one award starting this year, though (as Kei Tomiyama・Kazue Takahashi Award), like the major awards since last year.

I wish more awards programs would have the guts to do this. Some years, it feels like all the options are mediocre or worse.

Ngl kind of barebone
Though i do not know historically how stacked these awards usually are, but i feel 2023 wasnt the best yr for seiyuu fans? (Good work to everyone that one an award)
